Lisa, I know we have the rights to practise any religion, especially in our own home. That's why I love this country.

Barb, we will continue to pray for Norman. Prayers do change things, and when I pray, I understand that it's all according to His will.

Bonnie, if you're lurking, tell us what's going on in your world. Are you over your sinus/allergy infection?

LK.. I hope you and DH are over your cruds. Please plan not to get ill for the Ohio bash. I can't wait to see the quilt blocks you'll be getting. Hope all have turned in theirs to Janice.

Cody, so sorry you lost an egg. Hope the rest make it. I still say, you need to try roasting goose.. :D Sorryy.. knowing you, they'll have names and you won't be able to get rid of them.

Judy, sweet, sweet sistah. Thank you for posting the pictures. Makes me feel like I haven't missed anything. Was Cookie wearing the apron? She's certainly a 'ham' ain't she.
We were late in joining you all for that trip to the neighbours'. I had to take a rest at the hotel, and when we got to BJ's, the house was empty. So we walked down along the lake, thinking you all might be at a neighbour's house.. not thinking you all are just across the street. Yes, I heard how BJ's Mike described that intruder! That was hilarious.
Thank you for 'breaking the bread'. It was wonderful that evening when we all held hands while Deborah led us into prayers. Then here you are, honoring us with your ancestral spiritual prayers. That was one night, we will never forget.
Judy, so sorry we couldn't wait for you. But I'll get another hug from you! We got in the nick of time to return our rental car, and the flight was on time.

Yep Gwen, you never know a whole bunch of chatty sistahs truly only knew each other online. The moment we met, it's as though we've been this way forever and all our personalities just meshed. Look how you fit in (snapping fingers) just like that!
Laugh all you want at the screen.. we all do that.. but don't get caught!

LOL BJ, we ain't cyber anymore... and the funny part is we have NEVER considered ourselves as cyber friends. We're flesh and blood, separated by a monitor.
This then must be the egg, BJ.

Well I better get some work done in the house. Dallas is staring hard at me, and soon it's time for the 4 o'clock feeding.

Give little Dallas a tiny kitty hug for us...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey Trisha! Hope you're feeling better!
Dallas' eyes are bright and opened!! Yeah!! We'll soon have to set up a safe playpen where the other adult cats can't get into. My oldest Rimau keeps grimacing each time it gets close to Dallas.

Good friend just called. Don't have to cook, she has some fish ball soup and sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. I know you had that before, a popular Chinese ethnic dish.

In the meantime... the swine flu has arrived in Wilmington, about 65 miles away. Hope the carrier's quarantined.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, you gotta be careful with that flu!
How is the kitty doing Jaye?
Please forgive me, but someone mentioned the duck I gave to BJ last year. During one of the swaps she had mentions she liked that duck. Well, I did not get her name in the swap, but I knew I was going to see her for the round up last summer, so I ordered it, and took it too her. She was tickled that I rememered what she said about liking the duck! BJ, where did you end up placing the crash landing duck?
BJ, never any harm in having dreams? LOL
LK

(Gwen) Canton, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, Linda I think I'm hooked. Who could pass up a chance to have all you wonderful ladies as friends.

Cody, I use to raise little chickens and I remember thinking that they would never come out of the shell. Sometimes it would take a couple of days after they started the hole. Be patient and what every you do don't break the egg to help him come out. They say they have to do it themselves so they become strong enough to survive. Sorry about the little one that has not come out but just maybe he will come out afterall. I will keep you guys in my prayers.

Yes, mom... I will get to work... Nevermind it's time to go home. Kids never listen to their parents.

Jaye, you are correct.. When we came over to BJ's I expected to see alot of old grumpy ladies that had only met in cyper space but instead I found them most beautiful women that I had ever met. Full of viberance and energy. I never in my life imagined that I would find friends like all of you. Is Dallas getting up on this own yet? He looks to be getting more liveliness in picture. I hope he is doing better. I have nursed serveral back from the brink of death so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Judy, you are a great story teller. I really enjoyed the time that we got to spend together getting to know one other. Wish we all could get together more often.

Well, I found out yesterday that Kristi is going to have to have surgery on her shoulder. She has really loose joints. She tore some ligaments and possible chipped some of the bone. They will go in and reattach the ligaments and put pins in her shoulder to tighten everything up. They are going to call me on Monday to schedule her surgery. After surgery she will have about a 5 month recovery where she can't do much physical activity. Boy and I in for it. An ADHD child that can't do anything. Man... I think my ears will explode... Everyone that met Kristi can surely understand.

Well, my husband if FINALLY ready to leave work. I will check back with you guys on the way home.

Hugs and Kisses to all

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I LOVE MY Duck !!! He's not so good at landing, though... but he's so cute!!!
He's sitting in the front flower bed so Don can smile at him everytime he passes going out to his shop... He loves it too.

Yep, LK was so generous to bring him to me... and we both laughed so hard when I opened the box... you'll see why... check it out.

Good Afternoon ladies,
Mom had an early am doc appt. Come to find out she has to have orthoscopic (sp) surgery on her knee. She has a torn minicus (sp) Dang I wished there was spell check here. Left doc office headed for IHOP for breakfast, yum love that place. Then headed to Lowe's to get some QuickWall to finish something. You will see pix of it soon. Then onto Wal-Mart. Was looking for some Hawaiian print to make DGD a dreass for an upcoming LUAU b-day party. Nothing there, so on the way home mom mentioned another craft store that we always go to. I toatally forgot all about it. Beverley's and found the perfect material and pattern. Will post pix after I get it made. Need to have it done by next Saturday. Came home watched The Doctor's, and mom fell asleep in her chair so I decided to come say "HI".

BJ & Marion, I posted in the "Welcome Spring" swap we are waiting to see your goodies so as soon as you get a chance Please post some pix. Then I will mark it closed.

(Gwen) Canton, TX(Zone 8a)

What do u mean BJ I thought for sure she could stay at your house. LOL My oh my who will that care of her. Oh wait.... We can let her birth mother and sister stay at my house and do it. ROFLMAO! To catch everyone up and as some of u already know, BJ is my MIL and kristi is my step daughter in which her mother had diagnosed with ADHD. That's a long story which nobody probably wants to here anyway... I'm not sure abt all that but I am sure that this child requires alot of EVERYONES attention. She is a VERY smart girl. Excels in all subject and wiz' all the UIL events but the day God was handing out common sense she was pickin flowers. I'm not joking either. She can work the most difficult problems but everyday stuff she just doesn't think about. Don't get me wrong I love her just like my own I am just giving u ladies a clear picture... I will stop rambling now. If u want to know more let me know.

(Gwen) Canton, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok to funny not to share. Steven and I are driving home right know and he say "I can see it know, I am going to become a Daves Garden Widow! I wonder how Kel does it?". I thought I was going to wet mysel. Jaye, any advise?

(Gwen) Canton, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi cindy. I am a new sistha. I am BJs DIL. Nice to meet u. I'm sorry abt yours moms knee. I can understand your pain as u can see in my last post.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Looks like you had a full day Cindy, and it's still not over yet, there.
Do you get quail eggs when you order eggs at your IHOP? We do, at the beach. Our 3 eggs on our plate come to the size of one medium egg. Kel got so p'o'd, he vowed never to eat at that place.
I bet that dress will be so pretty..

Bless Kristi's heart..... She is truly a sweet gal. Could chat up a storm, I agree. But she's a teenager.. all that hormones. She's truly funny.. each time we mentioned how things are different in Texas.. she'd say "That's Texas!!" and I think she got Mike doing the same thing too.
She had asked Kel one evening, as to where his 'beer' was. Kel stumped her by saying he doesn't smoke nor drink... to which she immediately replied.. "This is Texas!!" God Almighty, you would have sworn a lightning just struck then when you looked into her eyes!!

Steven, since you asked how Kel coped.. errr.. he doesn't.. he says, if you can't beat 'em.. join 'em..
I'd stop him whatever he's doing and tell him on what's being said here. AND if I don't do it.. he'll ask me anyway!
Lolol!!

Bad weather here.. looks like the frogs have their wish.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Steven can get pointers from Don... poor guys... somehow, someway, they just put up with us.

Gwen... I thought the plan was to have the surgery, then put her on the plane to her mom's ??? Isn't that the plan?
Of course, her mom will just send her back in a couple weeks, after she's totally in the loony bin... won't take much.

Then, we'll just have to figure out the next 4 months... she can be a handful.

Marion... when you describe your littlest pirate, it reminds me of Kristi at her age... I hope you were taking notes while you were here.

Picked Mike up from swimming, after 4 hours... of course, he was famished... so, had to get some food in him.
BUT, I have managed to get him mad at me for the first time since he's been here. First, he asked me to take him to the mall this weekend so he can buy some shorts. I said NO, not in the truck cause it's not running right... will have to wait till next week when I have the Tuscon. Then, he asked me if he could go spend the night with Ryan (school buddy he was swimming with)... of course, I had questions... Like, who all is going to be there, how are you going to get there and home... stuff like that. Well, turned out that about 7 kids, boys and girls, were all going to ride in Ryans little Toyota pick up to Malakoff... I had to tell him NO again...
I even explained that besides it being against the law to ride that many people in that sized vehicle, it's dangerous. PLUS, I just can't imagine Ryan's mom agreeing to all this... a coed sleep over?... I mean, come on folks... I know I'm old, but really... do they do that now?

So, Mike isn't speaking to me now...
I think he'll get over it... but this is our first tiff.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

to answer your question there BJ and you can tell Mike I said so too.
No a co ed sleep over is not done not even now a days not in the south and not in the north where I came from .
maybe they hang out for a while but the ones not sleeping over go home they do not spend the night and your right as to the number of people in a small truck that is a no no too cops stop ya and it is ticket time and not just for the driver any more.

Gwen as for Kristi I understand that feeling my youngest is a boy and he is ADHD...he is adopted through foster care when he was 3 but had been with me since 3 mos. His nick name is Toad cause when he was little he hopped so to speak from one thing to another ...watching a movie, playing with his cars, to who knows what and back again,.
It is the everyday mundane things that are a problem to do but the fun trivial stuff is fun and the short term memory can retain it enough that it sticks.
I used to make a "chore list" for him and he had to check it off everyday and by the end of the week if he did it all then we would rent a movie to watch or a game for him to play on his Nintendo.
For school he finally got an 504 plan and was able to take his CD player to school and use it in class to block out the other kids acting up and he did good then.
when he had nothing else to do I found he would doodle/draw.
Is she into doing any crafty type stuff or draw ??? that might help when she can't do much of anything as it would give her mind something to do and keep her busy too without over doing it after surgery....Oh wait BJ can help in that area LMAO

Well girls I would offer cookies up but dang they went like hot cakes...soem of the mechanics and office staff were already into them before lunchtime even hit LOL
there is some ice cream left one pail is over at one of my co workers that just lives around the corner from work so we are gonna have that next week at work to eat too LOL

Phones in Church

A man in Topeka , Kansas decided to write a book about churches
around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started
working east from there.
Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes.
He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was Intrigued with a sign,
which read 'Calls: $10,000 a minute.' Seeking
out the pastor, he asked about the phone and the sign.
The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct
line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to GOD.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he
continued to visit churches in Seattle , Denver , St.. Louis ,
Chicago , Milwaukee , and around the United States , he found more phones,
with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in Georgia , upon entering a church in Alma ,
Georgia which is only about 30 miles from Waycross ....behold - he saw
the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read 'Calls: 35 cents.'

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor, 'Reverend, I have
been In cities all across the country and in each church I have found
this golden Telephone and have been told it is a direct line to
Heaven and that I could talk to GOD, but in the other churches the cost was
$10,000 a minute.
'Your sign reads only 35 cents a call. Why?'
The pastor, smiling benignly, replied,
'Son, you're in the South now .
You're in God's Country....It's a local call.'

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Phyllis... at least I know now that I'm not such a fuddy duddy...
Kinda makes me wonder though... if Ryan's mom knows what's going on...
When Mike saw the expression on my face, and I reacted with a startled gesture... his eyes got big, and he shrugged his shoulders... like he didn't know there was anything wrong with that.

Problem we've seen here lately is that Mike can be talked into things and told that that is how it's done in America... so, I've been asking a lot more questions, and keeping my eye a bit more peeled...
I think I'm getting too overly protective...
Mike is a great kid... and I just don't want some goofy American kid to ruin him.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

well like I said if it helps any let him read my posts my son is 20 so it hasn't' been that long ago that he was in school along with the fact driving a bus some of the kids talk to ya about stuff so I do know it is not done LOL
as far as being over protective..well maybe so BUT maybe he needs to ask himself how would mom and dad feel back home ..they have entrusted him to you and your care and if anything were to happen..how would they react and how would it make you feel let alone him it could change his life forever

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

RIGHT !!! We think alike in that way, Phyllis.
When ever I deal with him, I try to think of what I'd want a host mom to do if it were my son in a strange country... I'm trying to protect him... whether he needs it or not...

However... this is the first time I've had to just put my foot down with him... he really hasn't asked for much... much less ask for something that's unreasonable... until today... so, this is a first.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

hello ladies,,,finally made it! sliding in for a minute, and then slipping out to go to bed. What a day!
I was so thrilled on my highschool/middle school run though. Those kids gave me hugs when they got off the bus! And they all asked me would I be their driver for next year! Some even cried when they told me goodbye for the summer. I was so honored and felt like I was on top of the world. They made me feel so good! I've been telling everyone, I have the greatest bunch of young people,,,now I'm convinced,,,they are the GREATEST!
Gwen I know what you mean about common sense,,,my third oldest was like that. could NOT do anything requiring common sense,,,but was book genius,,,today he is a Federal Police officer in Missouri,,,and National Guard and right now is in Arizona taking more training on helicopters. He finished his 5 months training in Virginia, third in the class, and was beat out by two who had been through aviation before. So I thought that was really good never to have been around a chopper except to be flown from site to site.
So bear with her, and she will surprise you all.
Jaye so glad little Dallas is doing better.
Saving every cent I find for Ohio....if I see a penny I stop and pick it up. lol.
heading to bed now,,,you wonderful ladies have a good night's rest and wake up to a beautiful day tomorrow. Lots of sunshine,,,right temps,,,and blue skies.
good night and sweet dreams

Geez you sistah have been busy today!! Uh, uh Jaye thank you, I think! LOL Yeap, atleast I don't fall off jet skis--sorry Tink and Kris.

Gwen you can tell Christy that the lady in the green pants (the mean looking one) will take her for following her surgery! That really is a bummer about her shoulder and I am sure it has her bothered too. 5 months recovery--ouch! Well we can entertain her so send her to Florida.

Judy I am laughing so hard remembering the "uninvited" guest and how we left him across the street. Poor guy--I don't think he was feeling any pain or much else either. It is so funny after we saw the spreading gardenia you and I were talking about--I noticed one of my neighbors has it in their yard in the shade. Might have to add some to my lot somewhere.

As shucks, Phyllis no cookies? What will I do? Guess I might can ask DD to bake some this weekend--then maybe not as she is exhausted from the past 3 weeks packing up her classroom and the language lab preparing to move to the new school if and when it is finished. Doesn't look good for a late July opening schedule for next year. Time will tell for sure.

Steve a DG widower? Why doesn't he just admit he wants to join this crazy group and come on in--tell him the water is fine--but we do laugh a lots!!

Well I have a big date with the sandman and my pillow so I will check in tomorrow. I be tired!!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep... and to think... you almost forgot that pillow... LOL

Yep... we party shifted the drunk man...
Actually, he followed us across the street... and just didn't follow us back.
Could have been because we tippy toed past him.

I'm calling it a night too, my friends...

Expecting a report on Dallas in the morning, Jaye...

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Geez you gals get chatty real fast!!!

Gwen, I know about teenagers and ADHD Rick's daughter has it plus she's bi-polar. She is a rude loud mouth 300 pound 20 year old that has no respect for her elders. She calls her father as a-hole all the time and he just takes it. She uses the F word constantly. I could go on and on, but ^_^ I don't have to deal with it anymore. I feel for you, sistah I really do.

I forgot to mention that when I was in Beverley's looking at the fabrics. I found the most beautiful purple and sage green prints for my new quilt. I can't wait for the next fat quater swap whoever my buddy will be, will get some very beautiful quarters. I am so in the mood for sewing ^_^.

Well ladies it has been a busy day for me and another busy day tomarrow. I'm headed back to Marysville for the final load........I hope. Rick's daughter is not going to be there. So as soon as I've had my coffee I'm out the door. I pray the utility trailer doesn't fall apart, lol.

Good Night.......Sweet Dreams

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, glad the Kitty is doing better….look and sound a lot like Heli’s litter. In her case the mother had been hit by a car and there were three kittens left when Heather found them. We lost the first one but Heli and her brother pulled through and are really big cats now….

I Love Sticky rice in bamboo leaves…..they sell it at one of our Asian Markets and I have it when ever I get a chance!!

I love that Duck!!! He is soooo cute!!!

Cindy, that is the same thing my mom just had done. She was to the point she couldn’t get across the room without a walker. She is doing great now. Just tell her to take her pain meds as prescribe and be sure and do all the exercises.

Gwen you and my daughter Laura will have to compare notes….her stepdaughter just turned 8 and was a little animal when we got her at age 4……she is a different child now, the love of our life, but still quite trying at times!!! In her case birth mom only gets 2 hour court supervised visit once a week…

I second what Phyllis said……”it ain’t done that way here” and you can tell Mike all his Aunties are backing you up on this one!

You take care Cindy and don’t over do….sure will be glad when you are through with all your moving.

Cody congrats on your feathered baby!!

Took Laura and Sage up to the garden center and had them pick out a few things for their new garden. They are going to work in their yard when I take Sage home tomorrow. Of course I had to pick up a few things for myself too….couldn’t resist a couple of the Oriental poppies they had…love those so much.

Hope you all will keep Laura and Sean in your prayers….they are trying really hard to quit smoking….not there yet but they are making progress…and I just hope they can make it this time.

Jaye, I had to comment on you saying maybe the doctor would insist that Doris go into assisted living. She had a regular appointment with her cardiologist this morning and he told them she needs to be moved into assisted living as soon as possible. He said her heart problems are getting worse and she needs to be where she can be monitored around the clock. That is such a relief to all of us! And it saves her children from the burden of having to make the decision and force her to move. I just pray her remaining days are happy, peaceful ones.

Sage and I have to get up tomorrow and choose some of house plants to pot up for her. She wants some Inside Plants to put in her bedroom windows....
Also, my mother hired Sage to deadhead this shrub next to her sidewalk....Sage has been doing a great job too! She likes to work in the yard.

Everyone have a good night.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Coffee's on. How about some breakfast sausage or crispy bacon biscuits? If you want something sweet.. there are chocolate chips muffins.

Congrats Mama Cody! So you practically stayed by the incubator until they hatched? Wow! That's admirable dedication.

BJ, when I had Harris' 17 year old great nephew living with us, there was no such thing as a coed sleep over.
As long as he is under your charge, Mike can get miffed all he want, but it's your rules! I agree... I don't think his parents would allow that either. Responsible parents are the same worldwide.

Maid M... I just read that Burmese pythons are invading the everglades. So, when you see one crossing the road......... (Susan, don't read this) you know what to do, right? I've seen one of those swallow a pig whole.

That is good news Trisha. A mandatory round the clock nursing care will be the best place for Doris. Glad it's one less mental stress on your and your mum.

Cindy, I do hope everything goes your way today.

Good news on Dallas sistahs.. and nieces...
Dallas *Poo*ed* solid turds!!!! He is eating more now, and very alert.
We've not let him run around yet, until Papa Kel makes a pen for him. His eyes follow us around, and he meows loud if he doesn't see one of us. Only way he'll sleep soundly, is on the heating pad. Today, we'll stop using it, as I'm sure his body temp. is back to normal.
Yep, he is spoiled already :D
Thank You Lord!

Hmm.. what are we going to do with him when we're shopping. It's Saturday today and you all know our routine. Guess I will have to bring him along...

You ladies have a wonderful Saturday. Be safe, stay dry... it's still raining here..

Wow, BJ, I know you made the right decision, telling him No to the co-ed party. I would have done the same. Maybe when he realizes that his Mother would do the same, he will re-think things? Maybe you should have called the other parents and told them too? Besides, if something were to happen, you would be responsible.
Hope he is in a better mood today?
Jaye, so glad to hear that Dallas is doing better!
Phyllis, is school out for you too?
So what are you school bus drivers doing for the summer break?
Cody, your flowers are so pretty! Glad to hear you have one baby chick? Good luck on the rest of them. Keep us posted please?
Off to water the gardens.

Morning All,

Mom can't take any pain meds because she is having her eye operated on June 8th. She was hoping they would give her an injection, but doc seemsed to think that, that wouldn't help her this time.

Having my coffee and heading out the door soom. Mom is already to go. I told her she didn't need to to rest her knee because she has to bowl this afternoon. Tough old gal,^_^
