Want to share this great tip I found on Twitter to retrieve things dropped down the drain with a wet/dry vacuum and panty hose.

Coffee Break #12 - Remember those who sacrificed!
Pretty cool idea!
Watch for those baby alligators!
AWESOME! I'm sure I'll be using that idea.
OMG - I saw that funky-looking beetle here last summer. It was the long black and white antennae that struck me as unusual. Oh, Ugh! I had no idea of this newest threat to our trees. Thanks, Victor and Allison for those articles. Oh Dear!
Speaking of pests, Robindog, ya think you can send the Corps guy down here to eradicate the bikers on CL&P property?? I'm SURE there are habitats under those power lines that could be saved. Gad, give me my 50 acres...*please please please*. I'm glad at least someone is kinda sorta listening, I hope you get somewhere with that.
I have webworm all over the place now. Last year the Goldfinch gobbled them up, but this year I don't see him or her, so I'm on my own I guess. Trouble is there's also ladybugs around them, very strange, but if the ladybugs are eating the webworm they're not making much headway.
Apparently I also have a bear issue to contend with. Does this get any worse??!!
Had a scat pile on my pool deck last week. Had lots of seeds in it. I suspected bear, but waited for some other opinions. They agreed. We've had them in the general area for some time, but this is a first for my property and immediate vicinity. Ugh.
Oh, no! Sort of puts an end to the question of What does a bear do in the woods? You are so lucky he didn't end up in your pool! Hope it won't scare the boys. Drumlin, you brought back many memories when you mentioned the power lines----my friends & I would hike from East Mt., through the resevoir property, over the power line path & to the Prospect Dairy Bar. Miles for a soda! Sorry to hear the dirt bikers are in there----they need their own property, away from civilization!
OMG bear is not good. Do you have alot of berries Victor? They can be a real pain if you are berryful. I found that singing and whistling when I was out and about kept them on the perimeter when I lived in bear country. Geesh who knew bears were music critics?
Oh no!
If you go out in the woods today...
Huh! Instead of the bears having a picnic, it looks like they're having a pool party at Victor's house!
Here's a site to ID scat:

Nancy
victor now that is cool - we've had bears sightings around here athough never saw one here myself - only a mt. lion several years ago - thing ran off when i opened the slider to click a pic - actually it was two 20 ft bounds into the woods - and the news had a moose in the twon of woburn, ma last week, it is 6/7 miles from boston
We've had reports of mt lion sightings around here too, but never confirmed.
Cool, Victor....he's just looking for a bird feeder. Glad the kids weren't taking a polar bear swim though. If he didn't find a feeder, he will probably vacate the area.
My feeder is a squirrel-proof one.
Interesting. I hope it works.
So get this.....
Light burnt out above my kitchen sink..I couldn't unscrew it so hubby had to.
Told him to make sure to clean it because it looks like dead bugs in the cover, he takes the cover off and says "oh this ain't good" Well the spots weren't bugs it was ashes from a fire that was burning in there. Lovely!
Light is like this one...

I guess your feeder is also bear-proof! LOL
Thanks for that slug info.....think it works on human slugs also?
Politicians??
Wow, Jen! Glad you are all safe!! Whew....also glad you were home!
Not good. I wonder if that's why a couple of states don't allow it to be shipped there?
In case you missed it last week (5/24):

Nice shots!
love em!
Pretty, but not when you're there driving west
Was there a short, Jen? Glad it didn't turn into anything else.
Wow - scary, Jen.
Yes, short in the wires... totally fried.
wow - lucky!!
have you played the lottery yet?
Hope there's a recall on the product! Cool shots of Manhattan, Victor. We've had quite a few cougar sightings in the towns just to the west of us. Yesterday, as we headed for G. Barrington, just a few miles past the road leading to our son's place, a fox walked across the road in front of my car---he was walking because he had what appeared to be a bob white in his mouth----big bird for a fox to carry. Then later in the day while I was walking the dale, a hawk flew up from a field right next to us----looked like a Coopers.
Cool, Robin!
Jen - make sure you check that circuit breaker!
Hubby says "this house worries me" He'll be checking everything, and the other lights in the kitchen.
That's scary flowerjen! Glad you and yours are safe.
Nevada just recently named a state bug which a member is working on documenting so I looked up the other state bugs and they're not too imaginative IMHO http://www.netstate.com/states/tables/state_insects.htm
Of course Alberta doesn't even have a provincial bug. However we do have a cool provincial fish http://www3.sympatico.ca/goweezer/canada/embAlta.htm
It seems we northerners are really into trout. Check out the NE states fishes http://www.e-referencedesk.com/resources/state-fish/
Cool shots of "The City", Victor! Have you seen that phenomenon in person there?
