Phoebe all it takes is a few mins and you will turn into a yorkie lover... it only took one visit to Michele's and I fell in love with them
I will be sure to copy & paste your comments to Michele... we are both so excited... and thanks!!!
edit -- Riley is playing with Michele's dog Wily now... he is such a good boy.. stays in the crate all night and only cries for a few mins... Wily has been playing the good dad role every peep out of the baby Wily was running over to calm him down and then Riley went back to sleep

Congrats Deb n' David!
What a beauty Wall-E is, Jen!
Thanks,
I've been looking at pics of other GS' that have more black like Wall-e and none have his light eyes, makes him a stand out. He's such a big doofy puppy right now.
Thanks, for the new thread Victor...I want to take the kids down the road to the Veteran's cemetary and show them all the flags the boy/girl scouts put out.
Remembrance came first this morning. Thought I'd post a link for anyone who's interested. This is the Korean War Project. It's a volunteer group helping people find info on anyone KIA or MIA in Korea. They are also seeking info on survivors of anyone MIA as several years ago Korea returned many servicemen's bodies from mass graves. They are asking for DNA to try to help identify the remains. I was able to find final combat info on a lost family member from someone who served with him as well as helped friends find info on fallen loved ones. It's a fascinating and moving read.

Very nice, storm. Thank you.
My dad turned 18 in November of '45 and enlisted in the army. Luckily, he just missed the war. He lost quite a few friends.
The 4-h club just got back from a parade for the vets. The horses, big and small, are always a hit.
My dad joined the Navy and caught the tail end of the war, he was on a pt boat touring the caribbean(poor guy).
My father served in WWII and Korea. Lost an uncle in Korea. My brother died from service related illness from Viet Namn. Also lost a cousin there, POW. Lost several friends in VN and know many vets with service related injuries and illnesses both physical and mental. Have a seriously ill friend with Gulf War syndrome. Another friend is an amputee from Beirut.
Thank heaveans for good VA Hospitals and great members of the VFW. These folks cherish their shared experiences and are members of an exclusive club. Doesn't matter if they are 90 or 21. They belong to a great brotherhood. And now, sisterhood.
DSO's father got purple hearts in WWII and Korea and died on Pork Chop Hill. Let's also remember those killed in NYC, PA and the Pentagon.
Nice thoughts, storm. Thanks.
Nice topic, Victor. We are so fortunate to have been the beneficiaries of the great sacrifices made by so many veterans and their families. My Dad fought in WWI. I also lost many friends in Viet Nam and one to Gulf War Syndrome. So sad. The families and the returning vets need our support for sure!! Such bravery. We've been watching a lot of the WWII movies on the history channel the last few nights......Wow....I can't imagine the courage those soldiers had.

Here's the pics from the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery....
There were a lot of people out there just about 1 hour ago, I wanted to get a pic of the wreaths placed during the ceremony today but there was no parking available anywhere near them.
Wow----that's quite a sight! A friend of mine visited Normandy a few months ago---she said it left a hollow feeling, very moving. My DH is a WWII vet, a Marine---we are usually in NH for the parade---I saw it all, he was in a car with his buddies---it left me very teary.
Robin - please thank DH for me for his service. I would have been teary too.
Yes - thanks from me too, Robin. Nice shot, Bill.
OOO, A marine, I LOVE marines!!!!
gotta love the marines!! - my wifes dad was a marine, actually the youngest sgt. major ever at one point, he did not like me dating his daughter:)
Changing the subject - this is alarming. They're already in NYC.

wish those holes in my trees from the woodpeckers were not there... has me worried now
here is an article from Rutgers

Excellent article, shows just what to look for.
Oh, Lordy---not another pest! I'm still hunting the dreaded red lily beetle.
Congrats to David debilu!
i've been on the lookout for those beetles and their damage since i heard about them last year. bad bug
I took some photos of holes on the trees last summer. There were two distinctly different types of holes. Round ones and long slit type of ones. I'm sure it's birds. I can hear them pecking. I recently deleted the photos. None had that "Dust". Now if only the voles would stop girdling the ground level bark.
Congrats Deb and all our other graduates or proud family members/friends of graduates. It's such a feeling of accomplishment.
thanks everyone
I'm starting to get anxious now - will go to NYC next weekend to look for living arangements
Ugh - my neighbor confirmed at the extension that she has the dreaded viburnum leaf beetle. Real bad news. I did not think it was this far south yet.
Here is where they are in NY - see NY map

Thanks - they show my county as not yet reported. I'll check with the extension.
March.
Met a nice fellow yesterday while I was out walking the dogs---he was with the Audubon Society, doing work for the Army Corp of Engineers----biodiversity studies at the 3 dams in our town---told him the dirt bikers ruined everything at the dam where I live, & he agreed---gave me his Email to send a list of problems with them, & also the sightings of birds & and other animals before the bikers came in May 1st----he's hoping the Corps gets rid of them---too much of a liability, & too destructive for the habitat---that would be soooo terrific!
did not even know about that bug!
