Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #105 visit with friends!
Morning...grandma always wore black/white check aprons, most likely because it was the cheaper of materials...when she was in her late 80's I had ceramic doll parts..while I did crafts on one of her stays with me, she did the doll..took embroidery thread to make the hair, took her old black white check apron (thin as could be because of wear) and made slippers and a dress...this little doll sits in the spare room..I cherish her..thanks for the memories 'Tubby'
Dawn, omg can't believe you hollyhocks..I've a few growing as I have a few malva, but I must have them planted in an area they aren't fond of...yours are spectacular.. forgot that you live in a rural type setting...you've done marvels with the garden especially as you have watering problems...Baily is adorable..you lucky thing, 2 grandaughters - me 4 grandsons, yes, I wouldn't trade them for the world but sure would have loved a girl to spoil...yikes - gophers...we have moles that do mega damage as well...always something to offer itself as a challenge...
Crissy, I'm anxious to see some of your photo's..was the trip all you had hoped for..drats, coming home to things not working-not good! On my way in this morning I took the back way so I could enjoy the scenery, travelling along, just as I looked at my speed there was an Ontario Provincial Police sitting on the side of the road with radar..wow, did I put on the breaks...lol..thought of you..now how much would a fine cost when you are doing 10 over?
Trisha, family meeting might be for the best..how many of you are there in the area that could take turns..now it's your mom who lives next door to you correct?
Sounds as though you had a lot of bests yesterday..baseball team winning and bike ride..how far did you go? Kyle delivered to me the sheets for sponsors on Saturday, guess I'd best get moving to get some names on them...I'll leave one for the Wednesday day girls and one for Wednesday night painters..that ought to help..
OMG/OMG Carol, look at the trees...they are fragrant are they not..must feel like you are in heaven...are you having tea in the very back garden sitting area yet?
You've got me hooked on hostas', usually that's what is at the church plant sale the most, mind you much the same year after year...I'll look for new ones..neighbor bought one I think called 'powder blue' and I was at the nursery because they were advertizing one called 'stained glass' but they were out..must continue to look for it...it's not too late in the season to divide some is it????
Things are coming into bloom aren't they..wisteria won't be far behind..you know last year I purchased one, planted it at back deck ..you've just reminded me of it..think it must have died??? or are they late to start the first few years...
Did notice honeysuckle that I bought at the end of the season did take..paid $1.00 each so please with that...the silver lace vine I bought last year didn't come up yet and the new one I just paid a fortune for, isn't doing well
Tubby is that cute little puppy one of yours? Cheap to feed, just fertilizer and if you misbehave you can give it to Shirley in a bouquet..lol

Morning,
Dawn....how beautiful, and what a difference two years makes! I think that is about when I first saw your efforts. Like Betty, I am crazy for those hollyhocks. You have done an amazing job.
Interesting how things bloom in different zones. Our wisteria was great in early April, so where the rhodendrons...then in late April and early May the irises were wonderful. Now it is time for the daylily parade, and my first one bloomed on Friday morning.
I have been in Chicago with Ethan for the past week, now he is here with me but will be leaving this afternoon.
This is Purple Paw Print.....
Missed you Shar...waving Ethan..what all did you and grandma get into this past week? Are you helping out with the gardening..bet you've outgrown the tractor haven't you....
Wisteria doesn't bloom long? that's the problem with lilac's as well, short life span...we've yet to have iris open, probably not for a few weeks yet..my lily's are just coming out of the grown...so we get to enjoy all of your gardens and then ours will bloom..but I must say it's pretty just looking at all the greens..
Wisteria stays in bloom for about 2-3 weeks.
Your garden is lovely already, Betty, and yours as well, Carol.....I am enjoying the photos. But I missed Mary's, and I want to see hers, too.
Morning everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful week-end. Crissy, we are waiting for pictures and details of your trip please?
Betty, your garden is so beautiful, and can't wait to see what it looks like this summer! WOW!
LK
LOL Speedy Crissy, Love It!
I'm not hot anymore, but the first 3 days I did have the chills, hate it when that happens but at least my legs don't match my white socks anymore!
I have very, very bad news. I went to plug the camera into the computer this morning like I have done thousands of times with this camera, it fried the memory card so ALL of my vacation pictures are gone. I'm beginning to wonder what's going to happen next. What's really weird is when we started driving home in New Orleans I had bad feelings about coming home. It's such a bummer about the vacation pictures, but that just means that #1. we'll have to do it again, and #2 Dave said for me to get a new camera! Woo Hoo!!!!!
I have a bunch of stuff coming up in my yard but no camera to take pics with, guess I'll be getting a camera here before we know it! Bought a new printer yesterday while the sales are on.
Great photos, Jaye...tell us the names of those on the steps.
Shar,
Top steps.. BJWilson (BJ) and Fairy1004 (Stacey)
Cordeledawg (Deborah) and Elfs_Garden (Kris)
Ladydragon5 (Janice) and Abbisgranma (Marion)
JoyceT(Cookie) and Seedtosser1 (Judy) holding Cedric
Bottom step.. me.. aka Heavenscape.
This is the second get together for some, and we hope to do another one next year.
I’ve stumbled a couple times with the smoking. The anti-smoking drug made me dangerously manic; I was up for 42 hours and was still hyper when I figured out it must be the anti-smoking medication. Though, honestly I’m not noticing a big difference between being on the medication and off. Then yesterday I was so crashed from the nicotine withdrawal that I ended up smoking at the family reunion; I was afraid I was insulting people who didn’t know what was going on, and honestly I was around smokers. On the up side, smoking the cigarettes doesn’t seem to have made any difference in the long run.
Tubby, that ceiling is cool! But I’m perverse. That type thing has never had an effect on me and being told to quit smoking just made me want to smoke. Deciding to smoke had to be a decision I made to have any chance of success, and it’s based on cost.
Thanks, Jaye...good to know faces with names. What a great group, and how fun! Aren't gatherings like that just the best?

WINTER BLONDE
As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up. She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door. The trucker lowers the window, and she says:
"Hi, my name is Heather and you are losing some of your load."
The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street. When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again. She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door. Again, the trucker lowers the window.
As if they've never spoken, the blonde says brightly, "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the street. At the third red light, the same thing happens again. All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, knocks on the truck door. The trucker rolls down the window.
Again she says "Hi, my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next light. When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde. He knocks on her window, and after she lowers it, he says...
"Hi, my name is Mark, it's winter in Iowa and I'm driving the
SALT TRUCK!"
Morning all, loved the group photo and yes many times over the weekend I thought of all of you and just how much fun it would have been, but soooo many days in the car..perhaps another time...
Maybe we could have one here, get you all visiting Canada, shores of Georgian Bay!
Yesterday was such a long day, no wonder watching movies half the night, working all day and then class..didn't get home until 11:10..wouldn't have taken me much to just stay in bed..
Best of yesterday...was very busy at work ..helping youngest son test the new programs he's developed for us to make life easier..ooops now how can life get easier for me at work, I'm already doing crafts part of the day..lol
Worse of the day...Paul had purchased my dad's waterfront home after dad passed on..he's totally revamped it, more like a mansion now, nothing much left of it..oh yes there is, he kept the elevator my dad put in...showed me photo's, work downstairs and at the beach totally completed, upstairs is but strapping, all re designedr..my dad's home is gone...land is all that exists...
What did I learn today...Suzanne told me her son broke up with his girlfriend/live in..they had been together 5 years..Suzanne was heartbroken...as well Diane and Paul bought a cottage on the same body of water that I lived on..happy for them
morning all,
betty and carol omg yards are just beautiful!!!
dawn, wow your yard has come to life looks beautiful, ahhh the little one's are just adorable!
trisha, i found one set of cannas comming up will see if i can send them without wilting will try this weekend.
laura good luck
glad you had a great trip crissy
mary how was your weekend, dh hired my nephew he is 16 told him 100.00 every saturday to help clean up the yard yaaaay maby it will look nice again
judy, know you got lots of stories safe trip home
hello to everyone else, running behind now
have a wonderful day
Liz, tell hubby I'll fly down for the amount of money and do your gardens, 3 or 4 days and it would be done and I'd get myself a trip and a visit..lol
now that sounds like a good idea!
I'd come with lots of ideas and energy...
lol now this sounds like a round up hmmmm
Laura, not as easy as many think it is to quit smoking is it? How terrible for you to be feeling so poorly..you can't do without sleep...perhaps you should have told family members of your plight to quit smoking..they may have offered a hug or two..how is it going today? does it help if you keep busy i.e. gardening?
Good day everyone....a little cooler and clouds here today...might get a little shower out of it but not expecting much.
I know how you feel Betty......Bill's grandparents sold their beach property shortly before grandpa passed......the people who bought it built what I refer to as a hotel on the property....much too large to be called a home.....gone are all the fruit trees and berries....nothing recognizable is left...really quiet sad....
Liz, how wonderful! Let me know how much the postage is and will get it to you as soon as possible!!
Trisha, you must have sent the cold weather here..just got in, brrrr, up the furnace goes once again...have a few projects to finish tonight..trying to decide if it's work then play or bath and play..sometimes I get into trouble having my bath first...lol
Trisha, my home on the bay that I sold is now surrounded by mansions..waterway is just so changed with all restrictions on what you can do and can't do to your waterfront, you are right, it's sad to see such things happening...what was family fun cottage now is for the very rich elite...
Good afternoon ya'll! Missed ya today, busy at work not accomplishing much lol! Did get caught up from my missing week, and someone was looking out for me, it wasn't busy at all when I was gone!
Trying to get an exterminator over here, have these big black ants with rings on their butts coming in through the baseboards, I'm on a cement foundation with no crawlspace. I've seen online that they are carpenter ants. I called Terminix and they don't do free termite inspections, they just start spraying for whatever you say you have and even with the online discount it's expensive, same with Orkin, talked to a local exterminator and he said they're not carpenter ants, they're just big black ants. I'm not sure I believe that, but will do a free termite inspection which includes checking out the ants, so that's a winner! The problem is they want to come out right in the middle of the day when I'm at work, so that won't work. Only two of the 5 I left messages for called today so maybe tomorrow will be a better day for it.
I thought about BJ's party last week and wished I could do both, cruise and be at BJ's. I am thoroughly enjoying the pictures though! I feel like scanning a picture so I can post it here for ya'll to see me and Dave. I'll do that!!!
LOL Betty, make your job easier, huh!!
The day's not quite over yet, but best of today, calling Whirlpool about my broke down 2 year old front loader Duet and the customer service rep saying, "I'm going to put an extension on your warranty at no cost, you shouldn't be having problems with that yet."
Worst of today, looking at my legs and realizing that I am mosquito bit big time.
trisha nonsence! have another creeper i'll show you if you want that too
Oh Betty that is a fantastic idea! As if I needed a reason to come to Canada!!! LOL Missed you. Trisha, Linda Kay and many others at BJ's --we had loads of fun, laughter, fantastic food, more laughter and now our lips are zipped. Just got back to Havana about 6:30 tonight, tired, happy but glad to be home. Will chat more later.
I saw a gopher sticking out of a big hole and I could have sworn he flipped me the bird, so I poisoned it.
My girls both have the cutest little triangular, bedroom eyes, that droop in the corners.
I am going to show you a great pix. I love it. Then I will show you my hollyhocks that are going to heaven.
Thanks Shar. I am working so hard and Greg got my watering system more done than it was today. My Wisteria did not bloom, as usual.
I need to go in the spa, my neck is killing me. I feel like I do drive bys.
Liz see the little Cannas you gave me, popping up?
drats, my hand hit a key and my post went bye/bye...will retype when I get to work..drats and more drats...
Barb, thinking of you and Norm..hope you have brought your laptop so you can let us know how things are going...hugs for you as you sit and fret... prayers for the Dr.'s who are operating on Norm....and it goes without saying...may the Lord watch over Norm....
morning all,
barb prayers go up to you and your family.
dawn, wow their poping up all over,

betty, when i told dh what you said he smiled
