My Morning Glory Adventures
Debra - I love all the different plants you are growing! They really seem to love your yard and location!
I tried Liatris a few years ago. Planted a bunch of them (bulbs) and they came up, bloomed, and then promptly died. Haven't seen one come up since. I think my climate is too hot for them.
Have you grown George Strait before? If so, what did the blooms look like? I have one that is blooming, but I am not totally sure it IS GS or a volunteer from last season!
I hope Pauline is staying comfortable. How is she doing?
Good News! Pauline, age 78, Grandmother to my son, and my three of four daughters, always like a mother to me for over 33 years, has gone to join her husband Charles, married and together for all of their 52 years, today at 4:18 pm, and I am happy for them that her and Charles, and their son Chuck, and all of the rest of their friends and family before them, are all rejoined at last, and ,in my heart , believing in the Glory of God our Father, I know they are up there, watching me grow and live ,letting me make mistakes and accomplish boasted can dos', knowing that they and the others in my life I have lost, are really always here around me. whispering in the wind ..... I hear their promises and listen. I am Constantly Praying for a large unrealistic miracle at all times, and they let me see these little glimpses...

More good news!!! Becky, you are going to be a morning glory grandma or godmother of sorts, I have a spring from a gift you sent me...
now let me tell you, as soon as I came home, I headed out the door for my tour.. I am always changing soemthing, you know, well... I am ashamed to say, I planted the LAST two of these seeds tonight, not even caring that I had forgot that I had some planted already.. anyway, here is you first set of granglories.. this is planted on the East side of the dogrun fence, which of course, faces East..Everything on that fence is happy and likes each other so far..
I planted that last week..now I need a good cross to be named Willy Nelson, or Paulines'Charles
here are her neighbors on this fence( or at least a few of them)
sssfuzzy! but right abover this cross you sent me.. I just make it come or make it go.. I love this old vine... trim it, take starts from it, collect seeds from it, receive about 150 plantable rooted plants a year, I have no clue why I just throw them away.. the smell is fantastic, I keep a container of it to move around my patio heaven as I please.. I have made at least 6 good bushes from this little tuff old vine.. a good neighbor to have to grab ahold of, while getting a good stretch to reach it..
{{{Debra}}} Sorry to hear that Pauline has passed on. It's alway rough for those of us left behind to carry on in this world. Glad to hear she has a reunion of loved ones to see in her new heavenly home! :-)
Congrats on the Jishi x Ten Ten sprout! I hope it grows and blooms like crazy for you!
I, too, have some of that Honeysuckle vine. Love it! And the smell (and taste) is divine! :-) Your yard is coming alive with foliage and blooms and in some cases ... elegant scent! :-)
what is great about the honeysuckles there is the fact that I have pruned them to be an umbrella of sorts , leaving a semi bare fence with just woody parts, this is perfect for other vines to crawl up to for a hug. I am sorry if I have mis spelled in my other posts, I think I am just tired.. anyway, here is neighbor to the left ( south)
Dola, Ace of Spades, Frosy, Jacobs Cline, Marshalls' Delight, Plumeria , impatiens, Magnus, Coctail Gin,
Thank you, Becky, in my mind I lost her last week, I don't know why, but I am at peace for her.
Earlier you asked me if I had George Strait.. I have some seeds, planted some at the house Pauline lived in before she went to the hospital.. ( Paulla and Mikes house) I guess I was hoping she would come home to see them at some point, there I am, always having a postitive "hopeful going to get a miracle sort of hope "/
The comfort here is that she will see them after all.. whenever she wants.. how cool is that?
The only picture of them I have seen was from the person I got them from.. Emma.. so If you have a bloom, plz post it...
Can you find her in this picture? *hint* there is a marker and some space to climb behind her..
while I was out there watering tonight, I decided to plant some seeds in honour of her,, so there went the last two, in a white plasic tub. with another type of seed that is hard to sprout... those same ones... I found this flower had opened a bit.. too bad I didn't mark it.. I know it is a penstemon of some kind..
the crystal blue lobelia is really nice today..I had gone from work to water a freinds house yard while they are in Jamaica.. *sigh of envy* and theirs needs to be trimmed back if they want more blooms, so saturday I will go over with scizzors.. anyway this is pretty and I love it..
the babys breath is pretty, so is the bluet.. but I wasn't focussed on that... edited to spell it right and now to post the pic..

went outside, to sit in my spot at the table, so I could see and smell and touch my walls as they begin to grow... first thing zi see and smell as I step out the door, this petunia was a gift from a daughter.. it is really a deep aLmost fuschia pink.. I have been gathering seed pods as I trim them.. on the other side of the door is red nicotania, also a sweet smelling flower..
this one : http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6644020 is my fave you posted; its all over the front of my home aand along one back wall. It brings hummers during the day at in Summer Sphinx moths at night with its scent. Sadly it is not blooming as much this year, still adding a bit of fertilizers though~Thoughts are with you on your loss, Debra~
The Rootings you sent are all doing well so far too! Thanks so much!

today was a frustrating day for me, had to go to work, instead of playing in my heaven of growing things...today after the viewing thing ( I hate that crap) I went outside to find things that have come to surprise me.. and first thing I find is my mexican hats about to bloom, well some are bloomed.. and then I had to undwind four mg vines from various plants, and retrain them to grow up their intended growing sticks, found my Pink from last year had a bloom..good old pink morning glory to give me a smile.. and early one at that! too dark for a picture, but have pics of these from the other day.. corydalsi rock garden harlequin.. is throwing seeds now..
Debra - I dislike viewings, too! So relieved when my mother told me that she did NOT want one. She just wanted cremation and a simple graveside burial. Still hard to go through for me, but much easier than a viewing. Death is such a hard thing to deal with for those of us left behind here on earth ...
Isn't nice to see "life" in our garden during times like that. Same thing here, I immediately went outside to my garden after getting home from my Mother's funeral. I swear plants being living things ... somehow give off calming vibes! I really do believe that!
You plants look wonderful! You sure have a nice selection of beauties! Thank you for sharing so many of them with me! Love all your photos, too! :-)
When I saw the name of the forum "The Morning Glories forum" I thought oh my goodness, someone grows those on purpose! Before I moved down close to the beach in NC, I too could grow Morning Glories, and make them stay pretty much where I put them. But here in Hampstead NC (5 miles from the beach as the crow flies, 12 miles by car) I have to keep a constant vigilance out for the vines. More than 6 inches out of the ground and I could be swamped in a day or two. The Morning Glory grows like Kudzu down here. And I used to love the blue one I had.
Enjoy your beautiful vines.
One man's weed is another man's rose.
:-)
belledonna - I live in Florida, so some species of MGs are highly invasive here, too. But I try to stay away from those. I grow mostly I. nil vines which I do not find invasive here at all. (They are so beautiful, I wish they WERE the more invasive kind! lol) Between the heat, the cold, and all the rain as well as disease & pests ... they don't stand a chance! :-)
