I just had a pine siskin! Can you believe it? Seems so late.

Thanks Pelle and Nanny...those Pileated shots are awesome!!

Mrs. Ed...I've had several Pine Siskins around for the past few weeks. I think we are supposed to watch for signs of nesting but so far all I see is a bunch of fighting.

Beautiful, Margaret. Do you see the Ospreys anymore?

PERTH, Australia

Thanks, GP. I'm hearing the Ospreys, rather than seeing them. Things are very quiet at present. I am certain that Aussie is one of the three. That sound is unmistakable. I've been going to a small lookout a couple of hundred metres from where I view the nest. I can hear three Osprey and occasionally see them flying. I was offered access to another viewing area just a couple of days ago and could see two of them waaaaay down below me. This shot is from two days ago. I believe the nest reconstruction will start next month, that's if the new female decides to use the old nest.

The pair of Harlequin Ducks were still at the Eklutna Power Plant tail-race this evening 5/19/2009. I was able to take photos of the female with a fish about 6" long. A fish which seemed way too big for the bird. She spent about three minutes breaking up the fish to eat it.

While examining my photos, I discovered the male has a piece of fish line rapped around its body, with a knot at the lower breast and two ends dangling.
