Just stick flowers in a vase!

london England, United Kingdom

I don't know much about witch hazel! Does it get the flowers first like Magnolia? then the leaves ?
I wonder how much that is in £'s ? lol!

Thanks again for sharing your arrangements, here's a spotty cuppa for you!

Scary people????

Christchurch, New Zealand

neat spotty cup!
The witch hazel is like magnolia in that respect - blossom first & then leaves come later.
Mine is late winter/early spring flowering.
There are some amazing varieties out there & many fragranced ones.
Shame mine isn't scented but it is pretty.

LIke that twisted palm leaf. Do you have a photo of it as it was, and then what you did to it, Terri?

Sally - If I recall correctly, you are moving to Houston? I have relatives there - and have visited quite a few times. Good luck in your house hunting!

South, TX

Thanks, yes, Houston area.

Great arrangement with the palm leaf!

Thanks Dianne and Sally! I will take a pic and show you how I did the palm leaf.
I went to the florists with a friend, to help her choose some flowers for a wealth she is making for someone.
I said to myself, 'you're not buying anything terri, don't even think about it' Well y'know how it is .......
I ended up getting a huge bunch of stuff (mostly foliage).
5 palm leaves, 10 hosta leaves, 3 leukdendron, 3 ginger, 4 protea ,2anthurium, 4 green amaranthus,
2 yellow carnations, 2 red canna leaves and a bunch of yellow statice. Not a bad tropical bunch for £6.00

Your colors are stunning!

Remember my "arrangement" above.... well look what the heat did to it.. sort of abstracted in a vase! Looks a tad "picasso" to me or is that Dali? LOL!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Merci Beaucoup Candee! I hope so , that would be nice to have Sally well again!

South, TX

I wish it would happen.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

So you are still not quite 100%? Sorry to hear that.

Candee - nice use of the iris leaves. Are they siberian irises? I had not thought to use them before. Looks like another good idea that I can steal. I need to move a clump soon, so I will have to cut the leaves off anyway to make moving easier.

Terri - weren't you supposed to show us how you did the nifty palm twist? Or is it just literally twisting it? and how do you get it to stay? just by sticking the other flowers in between? Inquiring minds want to know. LoL.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I stole the leaf idea from terri a long time ago, matter of fact I have stolen a lot of her techniques and tricks. I never noticed how interesting the siberian leaves were until I actually cut one the are in little groups of 3 connected at the base.
I don't care for bearded iris, but the leaves from them actually for a fan effect, check them out! They are equaly as interesting.
