hee hee

Like I said when my old friend that got me gardening - I HATE You. Now Bill I hate you.... kidding.

Now my old friend that I keep handing him plants to plant says: Sherrie I hate you! Gotta chuckle outta that one. I handed him 2 Daturas he looks at me like I am crazy and says - I hate you......... Keeps repeating - I hate you.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Your gardens are fabtastic Bill.
Its amazing what youve done in a year.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thx joanne - you should have seen it two years ago:)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Looks fantastic Bill. Now weeds in the lawn either. Do you vacuum the garden??

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

there are weeds - need to keep the lawn mower set high:)

all of you are funny - i weed before i put down the mulch and them a few times during the season. and one thing you can't due to mulch is bring out the vacuum - was that what you did:)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

beautiful Bill!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have an understanding with the weeds.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

glad you do

South Hamilton, MA

They spread if you promise not to look?

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Everything's looking great!

Bill - where did you get your Shirazz? Local nursery or mail order? I think I'd like to try one, but haven't seen any yet.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i got mine at mahoney's in winchester, ma - i did not see any there this year - if you google the tree you will find the grower. they sell other plants so you would need to call around to see if they have it - that freight from sooners is high - although i paid that much last year for a 4 ft tree i picked up.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like a bar, not a nursery.

I want one too.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

I added a new bed on Monday. You can't see much from this picture though :) I basically extended the bed that had the elderberry in it, in front of the pondless pond, going to the crabapple:

I have 3 sweetfern, 2 bush honeysuckle (possibly the copper one, not the true native), 2 little blueberry bluerays (garden club sale - $12!), 1 virginia bluebells, 1 solomon seals, 1 anemone, 1 tiarella, 1 dicentra exima (fringed bleeding heart), 1 viola and 1 foxglove. The start of my woodland garden!

I forgot to check the soil ph though...just remembered that as I'm typing. d'oh!!

Looks good Evie! Do you always check the pH? I have to admit that I've never done that...how do I know if the pH is completely different 3 inches from my sample? I just assume it's going to be acid, sprinkle some lime around (which this reminds me I have to do yet) and hope for the best. My bad.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

I've never checked the soil ph either, drumlin. I just assume it's acid and leave it as is, lol. That starts getting into the realm of science, which is sooooooo not my thing. The only thing I grow that I'm not too sure likes the soil I have is some varieties of Heuchera.

Great work, everyone. I really like seeing shots or whole beds/ parts of the garden.

The diseased vibernums are blooming.
One wouldnt know they are dying and will have to be dug. At least the one on the left will go.

That is cool, Anita.

Love the alliums, Allison.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

good idea anita i was just looking at some of my shots from ealier this year - the change is really something when things start growing

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I love the lushness of the gardens at this time, befor the snails and sucking insects get at them.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

I don't usually check the ph, but since I was planting blueberry I wanted to make sure it was acidic enough.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

Same here, ge. Most of my hosta are pristine right now....I'm wondering why the slugs are are still asleep? Surely the heavy rain we just had will awaken them. They are the bane of my existance.

Anita, I love the montage. I will have to do that next year.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We have those huge 5" long ones.
I just emptied the kitchen compost bucket and when I lifted the lid on the Black Box I saw the pile move, ugggg

I couldnt handle that especially in the morning.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

in summers in high school i worked for the town highway department - this included garbage detail on and off - the old ones where you dumped you garbage do the hole outside that had a pail in it and a heavy iron lid.
had a big breakfast one morning and of course that was my first tour of garbage duty - almost lost my breakfast a few times - we had the Italian neighborhood that day - real tough duty - you learned to breath through your nose real fast.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very cool, Anita!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey - watch that Italian stuff, Bill!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

uutttt - oh-oh

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

sorry victor - truth be told it really was the worst part of town for garbage duty:)

Yeah - probably alot of garlic!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)
