and shade garden under development
The Long View 2009
love the progression shots Anita!!!
and your shade garden Ge
Thanks everyone. I'm lovin' this thread as it really gets the creative juices flowing.
Do you do annuals in the bathtub???
Yes, Jen, we do, usually. However, this year my little granddaughter wanted to plant some seeds in there. They are having a tough time.
WOWSER ALL! I could look at SongsofJoy's waterfall all day. eeviebeevie what a great job on the utilities box! wha you must have had an off day. How come you didn't replace that missing screen pronto? (tee hee) venu nice mix. I put annual poppies in from of my Maynight and I hope it looks as nice. Noreaster I luv that your lilac and lily of the valley bloom at the same time, and how the hostas are interspersed with the rocks and planters. I'm trying something similar on a smaller scale but it just looks like a jumble so far sigh. ge1836 cool birdbath!!!! Candyce I think my 'long views' look worse in person (snort). Yours look great!
Candyce I really like that! I love seeing creative gardens like yours, when I'm driving around. Makes the driving tolerable. : )
pretty Candyce!..... love the shoe Ge!!
Deb, that is a GREAT pic.
Tamberlin: OMG, what a garden!!! WHA ... what a pond. I have a little pond and stream myself and you've inspired me!
Cute inspectors!
And here we have a long view of where some nut decided to plant 75 asparagus plants among the weeds, roots, vines, poison ivy, etc. Why so far away? Because pug dogs LOVE asparagus and will eat them right down to the ground. This new far-off weed festival is beyond the reach of their electronic fence.
The pugs are cute and the Peony is fantastic.
Crockny: It's a cold-tolerant rose called Quadra. Cane hardy to Zone 3, or so they say. It was developed in Canada, I believe. I got it from the website, Spring Valley Roses (but I don't see it on their site today).
Thanks - does it have a strong rose scent?
No, I'm afraid that it does not. I understand these cold-tolerant roses from Canada do not have much in the way to scent.
Crock your yard is beautiful.
Yes, Croc, love your garden, very pretty.
Very nice collection of plants Crock.
Nice garden area.
Looks like a park, crock. Beautiful.
Ditto, to what they all just said, Crock. Wonderful!
Daisygrrl - oh too bad about Quadra -- it looks so pretty ... but I must have the scent!
O I'm greeeeen again. I don't mind my zone but everything gets so much bigger in less time in your gardens it seems. Crock your 4-5 years looks wonderfully established to me. Daisy do you golf? We could golf on all that green ^_^ Tamberlin I might have the iris, rose, peony thing together too this year. Everything is all out of sorts in my garden. Nice shot of the soaker-pond wha. ge1836 did you cut the sole off the shoe and put it over the plant or is it a plantershoe? Inquiring minds need all the details.
dahlianut - it's pretty much as they say - 1st year sleep, 2nd year creep, 3rd year leap! Things do seem to get bigger than advertised though ...
Those pugs are adorable, but their eating habits are weird. But I once knew a whippet that loved it too, but only cooked, with butter.
crockny, wonderful beds and mix of color and leaf combinations. Love the pale iris with the dark purple leaf Heuchera. It is so satisfying to do the work yourself. We hire a guy to mow, but all the real work is done by my DH and me. But I was blessed to have a friend visit this week who loves to use a chain saw and is tall, so he has been trimming lots of trees for us. DH was not happy to help me dig the new bed this spring. But now he likes it a lot.
I took some photo's from the second floor yesterday. Here is a view looking south toward that new Japanese Maple Bed with Nellie who had just dug a huge hole in that bed. grrrrrrrrrrrrr. She must not have liked the prostrate potentilla that I had just planted in her spot Patti
