The garden from hell. Not looking as bad as it did a month ago.
I was ready to plant the area in bushes.

Thanks everyone. I'm lovin' this thread as it really gets the creative juices flowing.

Need a passion flower that I have going? Actually I have 3 and can send you one.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I just found this thread. It's wonderful, and inspiring to view everyone's gardens. I'm glad that the consensus is that they are all works in progress.

Here's a long view of the front garden, which really looks a lot better in 'person'.

Do you do annuals in the bathtub???

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yes, Jen, we do, usually. However, this year my little granddaughter wanted to plant some seeds in there. They are having a tough time.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

WOWSER ALL! I could look at SongsofJoy's waterfall all day. eeviebeevie what a great job on the utilities box! wha you must have had an off day. How come you didn't replace that missing screen pronto? (tee hee) venu nice mix. I put annual poppies in from of my Maynight and I hope it looks as nice. Noreaster I luv that your lilac and lily of the valley bloom at the same time, and how the hostas are interspersed with the rocks and planters. I'm trying something similar on a smaller scale but it just looks like a jumble so far sigh. ge1836 cool birdbath!!!! Candyce I think my 'long views' look worse in person (snort). Yours look great!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Candyce I really like that! I love seeing creative gardens like yours, when I'm driving around. Makes the driving tolerable. : )

pretty Candyce!..... love the shoe Ge!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm awed by all your gardens! I'm wishing I had a little more shade to do a shade garden and get hooked on hostas like my friend Kassia. I guess I'll stick to the roses for now....
How often is it that we get roses, iris and peonies all blooming at once?

Deb, that is a GREAT pic.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Jen! My garden is being very generous with photo ops these last few days. Everything is blooming..... I can't get any work done. I keep walking outside and looking at the roses, the iris.....foxglove.....

Seriously....
I have to go take Andrew for a walk or he's going to bite me....

Tamberlin: OMG, what a garden!!! WHA ... what a pond. I have a little pond and stream myself and you've inspired me!

Speaking of the long view this morning, here are my two garden inspectors taking in this morning's "long view"

Cute inspectors!

And here we have a long view of where some nut decided to plant 75 asparagus plants among the weeds, roots, vines, poison ivy, etc. Why so far away? Because pug dogs LOVE asparagus and will eat them right down to the ground. This new far-off weed festival is beyond the reach of their electronic fence.

The pugs are cute and the Peony is fantastic.

Kerhonkson, NY(Zone 5a)

Daisygrrl: What's that red rose you have growing up your fence? Always looking for cold hardy roses ...

Here's a view of one side of my garden enclosure (deer you know) ... this was the end of May.

And here's one of the beds ...

Rhinebeck, NY(Zone 5b)

Crockny: It's a cold-tolerant rose called Quadra. Cane hardy to Zone 3, or so they say. It was developed in Canada, I believe. I got it from the website, Spring Valley Roses (but I don't see it on their site today).

Kerhonkson, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks - does it have a strong rose scent?

Rhinebeck, NY(Zone 5b)

No, I'm afraid that it does not. I understand these cold-tolerant roses from Canada do not have much in the way to scent.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Crock your yard is beautiful.

Rhinebeck, NY(Zone 5b)

Yes, Croc, love your garden, very pretty.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Very nice collection of plants Crock.
Nice garden area.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Looks like a park, crock. Beautiful.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Ditto, to what they all just said, Crock. Wonderful!

Kerhonkson, NY(Zone 5a)

Thank you all! That's very encouraging ... it's been 4-5 years in the making with me and my husband doing all the work by hand ... here's a picture of the herb bed and patio my husband made last year in the back end of the enclosure (in the fog) ...

Kerhonkson, NY(Zone 5a)

Daisygrrl - oh too bad about Quadra -- it looks so pretty ... but I must have the scent!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

O I'm greeeeen again. I don't mind my zone but everything gets so much bigger in less time in your gardens it seems. Crock your 4-5 years looks wonderfully established to me. Daisy do you golf? We could golf on all that green ^_^ Tamberlin I might have the iris, rose, peony thing together too this year. Everything is all out of sorts in my garden. Nice shot of the soaker-pond wha. ge1836 did you cut the sole off the shoe and put it over the plant or is it a plantershoe? Inquiring minds need all the details.

Kerhonkson, NY(Zone 5a)

dahlianut - it's pretty much as they say - 1st year sleep, 2nd year creep, 3rd year leap! Things do seem to get bigger than advertised though ...

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Those pugs are adorable, but their eating habits are weird. But I once knew a whippet that loved it too, but only cooked, with butter.

crockny, wonderful beds and mix of color and leaf combinations. Love the pale iris with the dark purple leaf Heuchera. It is so satisfying to do the work yourself. We hire a guy to mow, but all the real work is done by my DH and me. But I was blessed to have a friend visit this week who loves to use a chain saw and is tall, so he has been trimming lots of trees for us. DH was not happy to help me dig the new bed this spring. But now he likes it a lot.

I took some photo's from the second floor yesterday. Here is a view looking south toward that new Japanese Maple Bed with Nellie who had just dug a huge hole in that bed. grrrrrrrrrrrrr. She must not have liked the prostrate potentilla that I had just planted in her spot Patti
