amazing no one has owned up to them yet.... they were great!
Coffee Break #11 - Moms rule!
Gosh, It still cracks me up...
Those breads were great!
Love strawberry bread, & do make it in season---don't know if the original recipe will show up, but if not, I have one.
That's hard to believe, Victor. Most women that I speak to are very cognizant of the present situation and are exercizing restraint. Layoffs are lurking everywhere.
It certainly is hard to believe - and is scary, if true.
Let's hope not. I've cut back spending on everything, even gardening.
And what kind of beer is that, schickenlady??
I don't fit that either. If I need something, I try to see what I can use instead. What kind of beer Schickenlady?
Sherrie, you have d-mail.
I know a few people who are compulsive about their shopping, and it is always for themselves, not for their children. They can't afford their selfishness expenditures, and they are the first to cry poor when they don't reciprocate on gifts. I find it hard to be sympathetic. They also don't seem to think anyone can see it for what it is. Amazing.
Shopping does make me feel better but I don't spend $ if I don't have it.
Somehow, I can't imagine anyone I've "met" on DG being guilty of this! Gardeners here are so generous and so inclined to put others first.
I don't know anyone like that, for instance my sil loves shoes and jewelry and is constantly buying such BUT she always gets stuff for our kids.
Can someone explain this one to me???......
We have an ING account and called today to update phone # well they go thru all this security stuff and then put me on line with security who proceed to go thru questions provided by an outside source...only 1 question pertained to me, about what county in NJ I've lived, all the other ?'s were about my second brother(age, month of birth) and some lady I've never heard of before. So after I answer them she puts me on hold, comes back and tells me because of the answers I provided they have to close my account???? WHAT????? How completely crazy is this?
Sounds very fishy. Probably you did not answer a question correctly and they are suspecting someone is trying to fraudulently access your account. Closing the account is their way of preventing that.
They asked my bros age and month of birth...I know both so was I not supposed to know it?
Sometimes they have the info incorrectly in their databases.
Well that's just scary!
That is total craziness. I think you pretty well have to do everything in person these days with picture ID.
Yea, but it's designed to protect you. It's better than them giving out info to anyone who calls claiming to be you.
Jen, I think you need a beer.
I don't mind all the security cuz I do feel safer, except once I raced over to the post office straight from the garden, looking like a mud muffin sporting a Pebbles Flintstone doo and they wouldn't give me my box cuz I didn't look like my picture and I only brought my driver's licence. I mean really. What nut would have shown up at the post office looking like that to steal someone's elses parcel! Anyhoo Postie finally relented when I named the shipper and every bulb that was in the box, much to the amusement of the old gent next in line.
LOL, D-nut! Louise, I spend more money on myself because I have to have special shoes and only one brand of pants fits me, I have to have wool socks AND long underwear, etc. But the frivolous shopping is always for my kids, and still we have to have the $$$ before we spend it.
DD#1 learned all about "overdraft protection" this freshman year at college! She didn't spend more than she had but she deposited her work-study check and didn't allow time for it to clear. Then she charged a hamburger or a cup of coffee with her ATM card and WHAM! all of a sudden it's a $39 dollar cup of coffee! Etc. etc. etc. Soon that scam will be against the law.
Carrie - I hardly think that your expenditures constitute a compulsive spending spree! LOL
Dahlianut, that's too funny!
Phew! My kids get upset because my shoes are too expensive.... but they never wear out. ^_^
Dahlia - that's a riot! Now, imagine me looking pretty much like you describe yourself that day, when up to the garden marches my DH's first love and her family. OMG, did I look HORRID! And dirty! She hadn't been here or seen DH in 50 years and we just proceeded to have a tea party and a wonderful visit!!! LOL She was probably so relieved that she hadn't been trumped by some glamour girl! LOL
Flowerjen - IMHO, I think I'd call ING and ask to speak to a supervisor and express your feelings about what happened to you. I agree that good security provisions are there to protect us and we should be happy they have a plan, but once in awhile, an innocent person like you gets swept into a net and needs to speak out to set the record straight.
Denfinately call ING & get it fixed. Over the phone? Sounds like they use any excuse to downsize.
Louise, i cannot imagine you looking horrid! Dirty is ok, but horrid doesn't necessarily follow.
Great story, dnut - please take photos at those moments.
Jen - that does sound strange. I would contact them again. Maybe email first.
You are very kind, Carrie, but if you could see me at this moment, you'd rethink that generous statement!! Hahahaha!!!! Hank has been away for the day and I must do some damage control immediately!!! I'll start with a shower and then figure out some strategy from there. LOL To begin with, I have "gardener fingernail syndrome".....the dreaded GFS!!!
Too funny D-nut.....yeah I'll probably contact them again, I couldn't call today I was too crazed about the whole thing.
Victor I'm sure my DH would luv to take a pic of what he calls my 'pig pen' look. DonnieB I'm sure you were the picture of grace at your tea party. Jen I too think you should let them know what happened so it doesn't happen to someone else. They've obviously got a HUGE glitch in their screening process.
Yeah, I get the looks too, at the store. at least I don't wear my gloves into the store. I have a farmer's tan on my wrist. I laughed the other day when I noticed it. It was either that or dirt. ^_^. Nope, tan, it's still there.
I finally saw a hummer today. Not at my feeder near mom's window, but out in the red honeysuckle. I also had a red hat on, so maybe it was checking out the moving red thingy.
I picked up some strawberrries today. WOW!!! they are so sweet. I need to get some strawberry plants. They were $4.50 a qt. Fresh out of the field. I was glad I got there when I did. I was behind 3 women. The supply was running low. He only had about a pickup bed and a half left, until more came in from the field. 4 more cars pulled in after me. I got 7 qts. 4 for us and 2 for DS and 1 for a friend. We freeze them. What a treat in the winter!
You forget, Sherrie, that we HAVE met you (twice, in fact, for me!) and I think you clean up real nice!! LOL (That's a southern expression) tee hee.
sherrie when i am in the yard i am soaking wet, depending on what i am doing, covered in dirt - i had friends stop by last year while i was rototilling and amending soil and all they could see was my eyes - think little rascals - really do not care what anyone thinks, there are things to get done!!
i usually hose off to come inside to take a shower.
That's the spirit, Bill! I don't know how you can be a gardener and not look mucky now and then.....or most of the time. LOL
