Common name for Lavateria?
Guess I could look it up.
Hackberry Trees, etc, #2
Don't think there is one, Sharon. That makes it lavateria not Lavateria! It's an annual that looks a bit like a sturdy mallow. Flower, shades of pink. It gets quite showy. Have grown some from seed this year, but they're not big enough now. Most common one here is 'Silver Cup'.
Had better get to bed - want to get a lot planted tomorrow, because we conveniently have rain on Thursday.
Get some rest yourself. Glad you're currently at least getting a break from heavy gardening.

Hi All,
Off planting annuals (after planting bulbs, my least favorite gardening job).
But lucky I only have to meet my own standards and weather (overcaste and rained last two nights) is perfect. Have read how meticulous annual planting was expected to be in Victorian times. Obviously much easier now and the money is better!
Anybody need a new thread? I can start a new one if you do.
I am going outside in a few minutes to fight the jungle again. I slept so late. The power went off during the night, and my clock did not tell me what time it was when I first woke. Then I went right back to sleep. Oh, I've been up a while now, but after my battles of yesterday, I guess I needed the rest. But tonight I'll be up till all hours again...doesn't matter I guess, since I have nowhere to go nor anytime I need to be there.
As soon as I get my beds sorted out, and plant a few veggies, then I'll fill up a pot or two with trailing things that will survive our hot dry summers. We have such extremes in weather these days. But I have a new spot for a hanging planter, and am anxious to do something with it. I need lots of color, so maybe petunias to start with.
Hope your day is good, and that you get every thing done that you need done. I'll be back later.
At least I don't have to fight ivy again.
Sharon - a new thread would be a good idea. (#3)
Just recording my plantings: it is Lavatera ( I mis-spelled it). Several common names: lead one seems to be tree mallow. I'm a bit confused because of Kashmiri tree mallow which I have used a lot.
Lots of rain. Am quite wet. Planting going well.
Done....
