Happy Mothers Day......as Pastor Jan said last night ...to all the Mothers and those with Mothering Spirits......
Was beautiful earlier......getting bit overcast now....guess we are suppose to get rain the rest of the week:(
I love the bi-color trees....we have a few of those around here.
Beautiful Pictures everyone.....Shelly, I really love the Dogwood Pics.
garden pics: you MAY see this in MAY....#4
Nice shot of the bee in the bloosom. I followed around a bumble bee yesterday..but he would not stay still for a second! Just a bunch of blurry pictures!
Love your driveway RJ. I think red huck is a beartiful plant.
Happy Mother's Day to you all.
My daugther came out with lunch and my sister came out for lunch. Everyone brought flowers; carnations, tulips and a bouquet from my yard for Mom. She said her room looked like a funeral home. I said,"Or a flower shop." That got a laugh. Good day
I always buy my daughter a present for Mother's Day because she made me a mother and she has no children. Except her 32 students.
Willow. Your bleeding heart looks so pretty against the brick wall. My daughters & I went out for late lunch or early dinner. Had some delicious Thai food! Mom got to pay the check. That has been our tradition for at least 19 years. Some traditions were meant to be broken! Hopefully I will see the change in my lifetime!! LOL!!
I received a new frog today as a gift. He is a very rare and unique one. Came all the way from China. That's what the tag says anyway! LOL!
Love the Frog and the Peony......I would take either or both in my yard!!!
There were tons of Goldfinches visiting today. A red throated humming bird also checked out all 5 of my feeders and flitted off, not stopping for a drink or allowing me to take his/her picture. Darn!
This picture was taken by a feed close to my front door. I cracked open the door just a few inches and shot it from inside so I would not scare them away. I think it is a pretty shot of them by the Japanese Maple.
And the pot a made up for mom. A little scraggly right now, but it will fill out.
I love columbines, got two new ones. Haven't written down the names yet.
I went for a walk today and made up my own thread. Didn't want to overload this one. LOL
Check it out. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/986949/
Thanks all!
Bea.... Feisty is so cute! But, is she really all that feisty? Love the pics. But, in particular, the one of the two tulips together!!
Willow.... I love your pathway.
Sally, I'll have to open the link in a minute... my computer is stalling a bit at the moment. Never worry about overloading this thread!!! that's what it's hear for! I love the sappho rhody as well!

Is that what my favorite one is....a calsap? These were all here when we moved in, so I don't know any of them.
It's either Calsap or Sappho. It can be difficult to tell the two apart at times.

There is yet a third one as well, however if the plant is more than a few years old.... that's not likely to be it.
Wow.....those are really close. Anyway it's so pretty.
Sounds like everyone had a nice day.
Trisha, Very nice flower/bee pic!
Willow, I love the bleeding heart in front of the wall too, and your preview of your peony/iris combo is awesome! It's nice of you to treat your daughter on Mother's day...32 students sounds like she earns the honor! I don't have children either... unless you count taking care of and mothering the seven boys that work for me..ranging from 21 to 50...that I am "Mom" for in all sorts of ways at work, my dogs, my cats, and OH Yeah, my husband. (And yes, Judi, plant mom's count too!!!) DH always takes the time to give me a big thank you on Mother's day.
Bea, your new frog is too cute! Love the peony, tulips, and the iris...you guys are quite a ways ahead of us still.
Judi, your shrub is beautiful! Have never seen one like that before...can see why it is your favorite!
Sally, Looks like you really scored at the plant sale. Your rhody pics are great...Sapho was the first thing that jumped into my head when I saw that one as well. It has always been one of Mom's favorite too. Will have to check out your new thread in the am...am absolutely bushed after yardwork at Gma's, mowing at Mom's, and topping it off by cooking dinner for Mom and DH while we watched "Twilight". A perfect day!
Julie....glad you had a good day. Sounds like it was a full one. With DH out of town, mom and I are eating frozen left overs. ha ha ha I've been saving them so they are actually 'planned overs'.
planned overs....that's perfect! I"m glad that you're getting a bit of a break. this is great.
red- Feisty came to us with her name. My daughter wanted to change her name ,but after just a short time living with us we found that the name fit her. She loves to play..and has an attitude! She will whine for you to pick her up, then whine while you hold her. Then you put her down she will pounce on your feet and hiss like she is mad. Then the whinning begins all over again.Yesterday she was having an issue that many long hair cats have on the backside. Something stuck where it did not belong..if you get my drift! Well, we had to hold her down to clean her up. Of couse she did not like this one bit. After the problem was resolved she pounced both of us and hissed. I would think she would have been happy that we "destinked her". LOL! She is a cutie!
She sounds as if the name fits her very well then, like you said! That's great. I like the ones that have personality and let you know what they're up to! Good pose for a picture too. Precious has that sort of thing happen to here every once in a while with, well...'something stuck to her backside' and it freaks her out. She gets scared of it and starts zipping around the house at her fastest sprint speed. Stops, jumps and her hair raises and then she takes off again. It's always good for several minutes of laughing.
Verry pretty tulips Sharron!
Hi Dbower and thanks! I don't believe that I've seen you here before. Happy to have you here! Hopefully you'll get lucky and it will be one of the smaller varieties of ceanothus!
Sally, Love the "planed overs"! Never really thought of coining an official term for them, but that is perfect!
Bea, Feisty is adorable, what a sweet grandkitty.
Dbower, Nice new addition! Like Redchic says, hopefully it will end up being a smaller variety. The one that I have has been easily kept contained by pruning, but I have had to stay on top of it. Thanks for sharing your photo.
So this is another one of the shots that I feel doesn't show the detail well (especially taken in glaring sunlight) but had to share my creek garden that is starting to come into color.
RJ..your creek side garden is terrific. I have never seen a pasque flower . Those are lovely!
Dbower..hope you can find space for the CA lilac. It is beautiful. There are some huge lilacs around
town that are taller than a single story home. I hope to get some pictures of them soon.
A few flowers on my Japanese Noid maple. They are delicate !
