And outside-A big pink tulip
garden pics: you MAY see this in MAY....#4
Kathy, that was some damage!1
Judi, I had no idea, hope you are feeling much better soon.
willow.. beautiful pictures today. I love the varigated leaves on that jacobs ladder and the anemone nemorosa are very pretty.
Judi..hope you feel better very soon!
Judi, rest up so you can get back to yourself soon. This is not the time of year to drag out any kind of ailments!
Willow, I'm thinking your cactus flower belongs to a family I call the orchid cactus. I have had them for years and May is their month to bloom. I have one starting to bloom now but it is in the greenhouse and it is pouring down rain, so a picture will be forthcoming. The one that did the very best for me was in my bedroom in with an East expsoure and I kept the room at about 58 degrees whenever I could as I like to sleep cool. (Not air conditioned, though, so warmer in the summer. I think it, like the Christmas cactus likes long dark nights in the winter time.
That does look like comfey. I love the leaf and the flower, but it is so invasive here that I have given up on it. At least I have TRIED to give up on it. It came with me 13 years ago from my previous house in Federal Way and I still have to dig out roots every year. If only it weren't so invasive! The bees love it too.
You are still obviously ahead of us here in the forests. We are only starting to get color on the bigger rhodies except for the few that are in mostly full sun.
It has been a very unmotivating day with downpours and a bit of light hail.
RJ is also feeling sick so we'll see how she comes out. She will hopefully just go home from work and straight to bed.
Guess I'll take the time to post a few pics from yesterday morning. (Not a one today!)
Kathy how awful, I hate to think of all the work it took to clean that up. I had mom's tree windsailed last year, it's a huge oak and now it barely moves even in heavy winds.
Judi and RJ...sorry you're not well. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Willow...beautiful, especially the Paprika Spice.
Mtngirl, Hi, I too lived in Federal Way. In '79-'80. Going south on 99 it would be to the right a few block, in a new at that time, development. Can't remember the main street that ran west from the freeway exit. That was when I worked at the airport. Very easy to get to work on the bus.
Willow, lived there then, too. Are you thinking about 320th? That area is a traffic nightmare now. We still own an autobody shop in FW, at the 348th exit, which RJ is the manager for now.
We lived off of Dash Point Road towards Dash Point then.
Sharon your yard and view are wonderful.
Thanks, Thistle. Hopefully you will be here at the Round Up for breakfast on Sunday so you can see it in person. (We WILL have good weather!)
Darn it!! Typed a post and then lost it. Sigh.
Sharon, that's a beautiful view. I, too, have Comfrey that I got from Balvenie before he died. My dogs love it and I have to cover it to keep it from getting eaten down. For that reason it's been in a planter. Should I keep it there? Is it really invasive?
Julie, you too aren't feeling well? I hope you recuperate soon. I got the Nicotiana langsdorfii seeds in the mail today. I'll get them started this weekend. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the sympathy about the tree. It really could have been so much worse. The cleanup was less than a lot of people and it was a great way to bond with my great neighbors. We have more wood than we know what to do with.
Kathy
PNW......What a view you have!!! Gorgeous and a lovely yard to go with it. I love your combinations with color and texture. You've all got me looking at things with a different eye.
Aguane.....beautiful pictures, thank you for sharing.
Kathey.... You asked what's in 7826..... It's a wisteria, with a companion spider. lol What an event with that tree! glad it's over.
Willos... all lovely pics... but paprika spiced is my favorite!
Sharron... I love those last two pictures, the textures are great! I could stare out of the landscape of the horizon from your place for hours!
Judi and RJ.... Get well soon!!!
Aguane... lovely nasturtiums! I'm definitely with you on that last picture. Great colors!
Aguane - which canna is that? Striking! I think I need one.....
Aguane... what sort of temperatures are you starting to get now? I thought That I read on the news that parts of Az. were starting to get pretty warm already.
I love nasturtiums - they bloom for you pretty early, Aguane!!
Thanks, Shelly, for the id. I didn't recognize the Wisteria close up. Have you found one blooming already?
Patricia - you must have a lot more space than I thought. How many of those beautiful rhodies do you have?
Yep... sure have found one blooming...... at a nursery :-p lol
Those nurseries - they cheat, don't they? It's an awesome picture. How warm is it down there these days?
they do cheat. It's not fair!!
I don't really know how warm it was today. Seemed cold... for this time of year. I think that your area and mine have pretty really similar the last few days. The news just said that it reached a high of 55 today. All in all, not too bad. rain off an on.
Yeah. It sounds about the same. We were supposed to have another thunder storm tonight before a few days of sunshine. It didn't pan out. I like rain for a few days and then sun for a few. The plants (and I) bloom and don't have to water.
Interesting information about overwintering fuchsias (see the last few posts):
