I don't know the names of any of these.

I seem to recall that this one had "Gnu" somewhere in the name.

Pretty pink one.

This one has an odd look to it. It might be another case of Roundup drift.

A nice blue one:

I hope that woman who didn't like frilly irises isn't looking at this thread.

And possibly the frilliest of all:

I was driven to distraction, trying to figure out which rose this was, but then I noticed the foliage. It's a Peony, of course.

Four straight days of unexpected rain not only knocked most of the blooms off the Snowball Viburnum onto the path below, but also brought the branches all the way down to sniffing level for Pepplegoose.

WOW ZuZu your alpine truimph is sweet.
I would never have the patience to grow anything finnicky.
I love the frilly Iris and your cats are the greatest.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks, JoAnn. Now that my son's grown up and gone, I have the time and patience for finicky plants.

Great photos and plants, Zuzu, and terrific shots of the kitties.

So who is the person who doesn't love frilly irises? I love them.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

It was in that thread asking people to name the three plants they hate. I didn't post in it because it was almost certain to offend someone. There are whole forums of avid fans of some of my least favorite plants. One woman said she hates frilly irises, and she doesn't see the point of growing roses unless they're fragrant. She also hates my favorite kind of daffodil. Three for three!

My friend Joanne just sent me a great photo she took of Mambo when she came over last week.

Zuzu Nice kitties , lovely iris, I love the frilly ones.
It is spring with a vengeance now, It was bound to happen, practically no spring then summer. Has been in mid-eightys for past 4 days, and of course no rain. So now it is constant irrigating, and not enough time in the evenings to get all the plants into the ground.
A friend and I went up into the high hills to escape the heat in the middle of the day. Here is what we saw.

Thanks for refreshing my memory, Zuzu. Now I recall the thread.

Joanne captured a lovely moment with Mambo.

That mountain scene is so beautiful, Donna.

This iris, not as frilly as Zuzu's, just opened a few days ago. Funny how we look forward to the same reliable blooms every year.

Gorgeous iris, Pirl. I love those red irises, and the frillier the better.

Donna, those are great photos.

Much like my interest in roses (thanks to Zuzu) I also have a sudden interest in iris (Pollyk). Does this mean I am easily influenced? Yes, I think so.

I love the red irises too, and I agree, the frillier the better. And pink! Of course our iris blooms have been gone for most of the month, and now starts the daylily parade.

This is Purple Paw Print, my first DL of '09....

I love those frilly irises! Especially the darker colored one. Girlie girl irises.

My first iris opened yesterday. A historic, and not frilly at all.

I love those old historic iris too, Polly. Older neighborhoods around here have a lot of those non-frilly iris and they really invoke that nostalgic feeling of a simpler time when life was less complicated.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I love the historics also. I especially love the ones from 1920s and 30s that have the wide falls. So graceful, and elegant looking.

I love the newer ones, too. I love irises.

i have no control at all over any plant that is my plant obsession of the week . currently its mini roses plumeria and lotus. this month alone i got 2 plumie cuttings and a rooted one from dutchlady1 and 3 from florida colors and another on the way . i was gifted one last yr and it did so well in the house over winter i went nuts . then in like a day and a half i dug a 5x4 and 2 ft deep hole for a lotus bog . traded for seeds bought more seeds then decided i wanted a specific variety and ordered a tuber . i have no room in any bed if i dont want to go through withdrawals i need some new beds. i dont see my self stopping until there is no room . besides i was asked to be on a garden tour next yr so i have an excuse . to "make it better". i also cant stop buying petunias . they look good everywhere
