I probable want either but it is still to early to say for sure. I think mine get a little to cold but I have a lot of nice new growth.

Spring Epis
Boojum, I agree with Sandy ... probably another night or two before that bud opens. I don't know much about Epiphyllum's at all, but watched mine closely last year because I didn't want to miss it. I must have gone outside every ten minutes watching and waiting for that thing to open! It is exciting seeing the changes. Mine got plumper as it got ready to open!
Phoebe: Do you have a name on your Epi? Keep watching, and keep us posted on how it's doing, it's always so exciting to see these beautiful blooms!
WillieB: Look forward to seeing the flower on Jerry's Jubilee!
Isn't this a great time of year when so many different plants are bursting into bloom? Unfortunately, I have no buds even forming on my Epi's ... it probably would help if I'd feed them!
I can tell you how tuff our Epi's are. Remember last year when I was having so much trouble with the squirrel when I had mine on the carport? Well I cleaned off the carport yesterday and found a cutting, STILL ALIVE, I have it in some water to plumb up. And I found a broken off piece of Epi oxy that had taken root. Our car port floor gets wet when it rains.
Sandy
Plants are sometimes a lot tougher than we give them credit for, aren't they? I think your pesky squirrels have traveled south Sandy! I can't hang my orchids out in the trees anymore, the squirrels tear them apart. I still have a few other plants hanging in one tree and some containers under the tree ... those critters tear plants out of the pots, dig up the soil in the pots and bury acorns. They just do their own landscaping! They are comical little critters and fun to watch, but I sure wish they would leave my plants alone!
Oops! No! Don't have a bloom--just got my first Epi! I'm looking forward to YOUR impending blooms! Would be cool if they opened on Mother's Day--we ARE plantmoms!
Try putting a little Vick's vapor rub around the pot. It is keeping them out of a couple of my bird feeders!!!!!!!!!!
LOL Sandy, it would take a couple of gallons of Vicks for all the potted plants I need to keep squirrels away from! I'm down to about ten bird feeders in the yard ... never heard of using Vicks to keep the pesky squirrels away, that's a great idea because they sure make a mess of things and with so many squirrels, the birds don't get much of a chance!
It does not take much and fact if you could fix up a tree that the could not get into from another tree you would just have to fix some around the trunk. Or just try the bottom most pots first.
I just read in the original thread that some one was having problems with squirrels biting off the orchid buds and it worked for her.
How about Golden Glow http://www.epigalleria.com/images/LGolden%20Glow.jpg
Could be or Winged Victory

YAAY!!! It's absolutely Boo-tiful! Happy Mother's Day! ^_^
:))))
My vote goes to winged victory---of course I KNOW nothing about epis--LOL!
Found another possibility. Yellow Florance.

It looks like Winged Victory has rounded petals so that is not it.
Yellow Florance looks more like it, has the pointed petals.
Wow! Whatever it's name ... it is Gorgeous! I'm not even going to take a guess cause I'm so NOT good at identifying from photographs.
I've always been a pink kinda gal and I love that one called German Empress!
Congrats on some lovely Mother's Day blooms!
Sandy: Squirrels ate quite a few of my orchids last year! I was finding bits and pieces all over the ground under the tree, labels scattered about the ground and a couple of entire orchid plants totally missing, nowhere to be found. This spring they (or some other critter) ate my geraniums that were in hanging baskets in the same area! One day I took a picture of these gorgeous pink geraniums blooming like crazy and two days later they were almost totally gone, chewed right down to the soil! I might just try the Vicks to see how it works!
Do not put it on the plant. some one found that that was bad for the plant. Either put it on the pot or one of those plant labels that lost their writing. One way to make them work.
LOL, I would never put it directly on a plant. I will try a bit on the edge of a few pots ... good idea of smearing it on one of the plastic labels. I'm assuming they don't like the smell of vick's and that keeps them away from the area?
Some one said that peppermint worked also. They put it on those makeup pads and put it around their greenhouse.
It is past time for my bed. Good night y'all

Oh what a beauty!. Does it have any fragrance?. Thanks for the photo.
Yes it does. But it's hard to describe!
Wow, how wonderful. How big is the bloom?. Thanks.
Oh my goodness ... Jerry's Jubilee is Amazing!
WOW!!!! Great flower
Thanks, folks!!
The color gets washed out to almost white in the photo, but they really are more of a very faint pink.
The flower is about 7 to 7-1/2 inches across.
