Some Azaleas are very sweet--Alaska and George Tabor are common ones around L.A. And I had a Japanese variety whose name translated as "White Peacock." Every evening in the Spring, when I came home and got out of the car about 20 feet away, its beautiful baby-powder-like fragrance was in the air.

I also love the scent of Daphne, although it's not very well suited to L.A. weather. The closest I can come is Freesia--another fantastic scent.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

first bloom on my dwarf Singapore Pink plumeria. Scent is sensational but you do need to get close. I wish I could grow daphne in the TX gulf coast.

will have to research brunsfelsia nitida.
