When my Thai Caladiums expired about 5 months ago, I planted some impatiens in the same pot. Now they're starting to poke their little heads up and the impatiens are near their end. However, they're doing well co-existing and I'll wait till the last minute to pull them.
Container Renovations 6! (smile)
Thanks for the explanations on the ornamental grass.
Yall have such beautiful combinations!
Allllllllllllll these photos are just GORGEOUS! We are just starting to think about planting in this area. What a COLD COLD long spring we are having. This has been a wicked winter/summer for the coast.
The Oxalis is an amazing color...as are allllllllll the plants. These photos were worth waking up early for!
I also have a "Walking Iris" in white with purple beard. Kind of a reverse of what you have KatG! Mine's not giant...and it's in the house. It grows everywhere, and the size varies based on where it's growing. I have several babies hanging off of it right now that I NEED to get rooted up. It's starting to look like a spider plant...lol
Thanks for the "recipe" for your kale planter. That Cuban oregano really is handsome and I'm happy to know the name of the Marguerita daisies -- so petite and pretty! I actually have foxtail fern but never knew the name of it before -- just getting into gardening, really. Your containers are definitely inspiring!
On your ornamental grass photo, I admit to being intimidated at the idea of pulling something because it's growing too well, LOL. I'm still at that "gee, I got it to grow!" stage.

Kat,
I wouldn't wait for the tomatoes to ripen, I love fried green tomatoes. I've started my containers today and will still be working on them tomorrow. I found this fantastic greenhouse here so I'm happy now. Of course it is all the way across town and takes about 45 minutes to get there.
Henygirl,
coleus, begonias, double impatients, impatients, hydrengeas, ( which will have to be moved to larger pots and or into the ground eventueally). Ferns, up right fuchsia, such as "Gartenmeister...."some hostas can be put in but moved into yard eventually. will do well in this shady area. No grasses, need sun. Up north in NY i did all shady growing, very difficult. I'll post a pic what I grow here in shady area, longboat Key Fl.
Felicia! Do you just not find those walking Irises to be the most incredible plants? I love yours! Your right, it's the reverse of mine. I'm just in awe of them! I have new blooms today also! This can't go on...but I'm so enjoying it while it's happening!
Tina! I've just got to have ONE warm, red, ripe, beautiful tomato! I'm going to just pluck it off the vine, bite into it, put a little salt on it and just sit out in the potting area and just make a ceremony out of it! hehe. Let it drip down my face and just devour it!
When I was a kid, we had a pretty nice garden and I would eat lunch out there. Grab a pepper, tomato, some raw green beans...I miss those days!
Yes...after having my red tomato...I also love fried green tomatoes!
I just stopped in here to see some containers and get ideas...BUT KAT you are making me DROOL with your beautiful containers!! Gorgeous!!
Julie Up here in Michigan!
Thank you so much Julie! I understand you guys are finally getting some half-decent weather this week! Probably too early to start planting annuals, but it sure is a great time to plan!
This a new head that I just received from my supplier...Only bought a few because I'm just not sure about this guy. However, the more I look at him in the garden, the more he grows on me! I don't know why? Maybe it's because he reminds me of my cousin? hahaha. I'm thinking I might paint in his eyes! LOL
OMG...It just struck me! Tomorrow, I need to take a photo of him sitting on the chair (elevated) and having lunch! LOL
Today I spent some time trying to figure out how to grow vines in concrete. I want this vine I've got going to trail up the PVC pillars of my potting pergola..This one is without tendrils, so I transplanted him into a big pot and ran a little wire around the post with a loop to hold the plant??? Once he get's to the top and holds on, I can probably remove the wire...Any ideas?
Hey, Kat! So this is where you've been hiding out! Thought you might have been out of the country. You might try attaching a little sphagnum moss to that pvc and keep it moist. I was told by one of the plant guys at Marie Selby that I needed to keep the medium moist that I wanted a vine to grow up as it would be seeking out the moisture, but then if this vine does not send it's roots out to seek moisture, maybe the moss could just help cover the pipe. The whole world appreciates the beauty of your potted planters... which reminds me, I'm in the market for a mate for my young man!

katg, your containers are always like paintings. Thanks for sharing.
Katg, gorgeous pix as always! Great job! Love them!
Beautiful colors Jeri11! Very nice everyone!
Have you done herbs yet? I want to start some herbs. Are you looking specificly for color? I like periwinkles and some of mine from last year came back this year.
I love sweet potato vine mixed in with million bells, although that may be too close to your petunias.
had the same thought, Irwells50
I'm loving everyone's pictures. So much more unique and interesting than my boring containers! Helene, are those delphiniums in that last container? I didn't know you grow them in FL.
