Hello, Synda.
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞125
Does anyone know LouC ,aka ,Cristi from Desoto, TX, well her grandon drowned yesterday. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/975577/
Just got in.. thank you Synda.
Knew Christi from her frequent postings in Tropicals. She's the one who introduced me to Phyllis.. thanks.. will be getting there..
I just happen to run acrossed it and it took my breath away.
So sad.. Christi's just like you Synda, cheering others..
I know her faith in God will sustain her. I bet her grandson's already preparing a garden for her in Heaven.
Sistahs, I have a terrible, terrible headache.. must be from returning to the sewing machine :D
Going to rest this head.. will be enjoying your postings.. and shall return to engage in HAPPY convo as soon as I can! In the meantime, continue to make me laugh!
Welcome back Lisa2!
So sorry to hear anyone looses a grandchild! I know that whole family is inside out, but I do hope they find comfort in the hands of the Lord!
LK
LK, that bird will be a welcome visitor anytime here!! Lucky you.. I get only the common ones.
I added my prayers to her list... I can't even imagine the sorrow that whole family is going through... what a tragedy.
Well, ladies... here's the home made strawberry pots I made yesterday... Don laughed... but he won't be laughing when he enjoys a dish of strawberries and cream someday... huh?
Just thought I'd share so you can see my red neck side.
I found out it is a yellow headed blackbird. I have never seen them here before, and they are supposed to be marsh, and water birds! No water here for about 10 - 12 miles?
Yes they are very welcome here, and it made my Dad perk up when he saw them. Plus we had 3 squirrels here today. Normally have only one! Just a good day for Gods beautiful creatures!
LK
Bj, I love the ideas! Great job. Did you wrap a paper towel or coffee filter around the stem, before placing it upside down. I was reading somwhere that will make it stay there better?
Very nice.
Topsy Turveys work great!
Can't talk right now have to leave for mom's doctors appointment in about five minutes.
Nope... I cut a circle out of a piece of foam, the size of the coffee can... cut a slit to the middle, and wrapped that around the stem of the plant... then poked it down to the bottom of the can, being careful to guide the little leaves out the hole in the bottom of the can.
The chains are some hangers for some planters I've had a while, and don't use anymore... and the foam pieces you see there are guarding the sharp end of some curtain hooks I've had in a jar out in the shop forever.
I didn't have to buy a thing... it's just all stuff I had around the house.
Don will laugh at this too, but OH WELL !!!
I'm thinking that if I can find Don's stash of S hooks, I'll change those curtain hooks out... that does stretch to "red neck" thing a bit far....
So how does the plant stay in the pot? What a great Idea.
Lisa
ROFL!!!!!!
BJ, it's all about 'thinking outside the box' or redefining creativity. I bet it's universal, not only confined to redneck!
Lots of rednecks here don't think like you! Brilliant!!
What keeps the plant from falling out is the foam that is around the stem of the plant...
I had grown mine in a regular pot. Just made the hole big enough for the stem to go through. Kids had a blast with "topsy-turvy" tomatoes.
You have a great idea for a strawberry pot. Those terra cotta pots are getting too costly. Plenty of kitty litter buckets around here..
ohhhhhhhhhhhh Kelvin.................
...so why wouldn't that work? Way to go BJ!!! Great job.
Could supply a few kitty litter buckets myself--nope got plants in them already. Sorry.
Well, Jaye... I've shopped everywhere around here locally... and I can't even find a strawberry pot to buy... terra cotta, ceramic... I didn't care... just couldn't find one.
So, I had to get the juices flowing... cause I really wanted to grow strawberries this year.
Marion... I'm counting on it working just fine... thanks.
Just don't any of you come down here and laugh at my red neck riggin' in May... K?
Lololol.....
Kelvin said why sweat growing strawberries, when there's a strawberry farm not too far. All we need is to adopt the neighbour's kids for a day...they're low enough to pick a gallon for us!!
Maid M.. we 'repurpose' those buckets to hold cuttings, store granular plant food... etcetra..
OK.. headache's not going away.. see me later everyone.
I don't think anyone will be laughing. I hate to throw out those coffee cans and I am always doing something with them--if not storing things in them then planting in them. One of the nicest potato vines I ever had was planted in an old coffee can. Remember: Waste not, want not!!! No laughing from here!! Same with litter buckets--great storage and planters!!
No laughing here! I like those ideas. I got Dads topsy turvy hangers from QVC, they have them 3 for $23.28.

I have tomatoes on all 3 plants, and Dad can't wait to eat one of them!
LK
Hey... I'm just too tickled to have blooms on 2 of my tomato plants... guess I'm just slower than you are, LK... but, I'm trying my hardest to catch up.
You have been colder too! it has been really nice here, and everything is taking off really good!
LK
Not changing the subject but did anyone see the clip on the news about the Talent Contest in England similar to our Idol ? A lady sang "I Have A Dream" from Les Miz--awesome is all I can say!!! Still have "chill bumps"
Sorry Marion, did not know they had one in England too. Was it on the news?
LK
I read it on the news on AOL--you might can find it--England Talent Search might do it. Not sure but it is truly something.
Bonnie,i really enjoyed our talk on the phone.
Well ladies,my baby is up from his nap so we are going outside and enjoy the day.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY
Marion, is this the one?
She is amazing!
LK
Yeap that is the one. Were you shocked? I was and wasn't but really enjoyed her singing. Then that is one of my favorite songs from the musical so what can I say. Just awesome!!
OMG... she is incredible... I have to agree with the judges... I didn't expect that... and was so pleasantly surprised... I'd love to see her progress through their contest.
I was just as surprised as the judges were. Just goes to show, you can't judge a book by it's cover! I do hope she goes to the finish!
LK
Ahhh BJ,I want to come to your Mem.Day Bash sooooo bad I could scream..........LOL.It looks so nice at your house.Green trees and water and boats.........
And as far as being a Redneck.........ROFLMBO....My family wrote the book. And I have Maxwell House Coffee cans out the Wazooo. Can't bring myself to throw them away.So now I see I need to buy myself some strawberry plants...LOL.Rick is going to have me committed.Last weekend I had him borrow my uncles bobcat and go get me Rocks. He is from the city,I was raised pure redneck country in Hickville USA.And he says ,I've never met such a woman that only want flowers if they have roots and the rocks she wants don't come from a jewelry store they're out in a hill of dirt, and for an Anniversary present she want a tandem full of topsoil.
He about died laughing the day the horses go out and I went after them in my night gown up a state highway.Had traffic stopped coming both ways.
That's funny Synda!!!
Oh my.. thank you Maid M. Susan made me cry!!!! Practically made me 'fergit' that I have a headache!! She's going far.. no thanks to Hollywood. If it's American Idol, they'll instantly reject her application, cause she's over 30 and NOT Brittney Spears cute!
I can't believe the number of shallow people in the audience, and to see Simon's jaw dropped......... that's a miracle.
When Melinda Doolittle lost to Jordin Sparks.. cause she ain't cute enough.. I stopped watching AI.
Glad you all enjoyed it! I had goose bumps and tears! That is the second time I have seen a clip from that contest that the person performing just "floored"me. One was a cell phone salesman who sang opera!!! He did go on to get a recording contract. Now I am tearing up the house looking for my Les Miz CD!!! Kim is going to think a hurricane blew through--one did called "Mom".
Oh, Synda... you got to find a way to get here, sistah... you're a gal after my own heart...
I get Christmas Presents like Chipper/Shredders year before last, year before it was a power washer... year before I got a brad nailer and some other stuff. Last year I asked for a load of top soil, $5000 to have some trees removed, and wages for 4 yard guys to get it all done in a week... didn't get it... Don wanted me to upholster the boat seats, so I got a commercial sewing machine (it's still in the box). I'm about to have to use it though.
A few birthdays ago, I got a new tiller... one year, I got a chain saw. LOL... I think this year for my birthday I'm going to ask for boulders... I really want some neat BIG rocks on the lower level.
Well, I headed down to that lower level a while ago, and tried my best to pay some attention to that sad little area of what was suppose to be a tropical garden... OMG... that's going to take me forever... had to quit for now cause it's almost time to go get Mike from school. I'm hot, sweaty, and I stink... but I am making some headway, finally.
Lol you all are cracking me up over here!! Love the pics, thanks for sharing those links!
I heard the lady on nightly news last night, she started to walk off stage before the judges judged her! Simon Cowel is a judge on that show also.
