Uncle is holding his own....he moved his foot this weekend, he can't talk but he mouthed "I love you" to my Aunt. So we keep the prayers going out and hope he continues to improve.

Marion, braids work just as well, and I can never get out to get my hair cut often enough to have short hair; I’m too lazy and miserly, this way I just have mom straighten it now and then, of course mom’s threatened to take the #2 hair clippers to everyone in my families hair at one point or another.

Cindy, I stayed with family one summer while mom and dad got things set up to move to Tai wan and Grandma cut my hair into a pixie, if they hadn’t been on separate sides of the earth when dad found out I’m not sure grandma would still be alive.

That was a traumatic summer for me, I had my hair cut, by cabbage patch run through the washer and hung up by her pigtails to dry on the clothes line, I had to take my earrings out (I was sure the holes would close up over night), then got sent to my aunt’s and lived on a “farm” where I got my hatred of chickens, inability to eat eggs with anything red on them, learned what it was to kill things and eat them (it was chickens and I had the hatred of chickens by that point, was the best chicken I ever had), and basically got tormented by my cousins (about a year on either side of me age wise) I’ve gotten over most of these issues.

I didn’t really cut my hair from 6 to 18, for graduation I cut my hair, that was so long I was sitting on it, and the braid that I had cut off (and still have) weighed 1/3 of a lb. I cut it a couple more times, back to a boy cut and henna dyed it red. I figured if I didn’t do it then I’d wait till it was down to my ankles and regret it for the rest of my life. I found out that I really don’t like the upkeep on short hair and that I think I look better with long hair. It’s now back down to mid-back.

Bon, it sounds like you, mom and I would be in the small minority that would actually like to get jury duty.

mcrochet, my situation isn’t that bad, but I do have mom take Sage on Fridays so I don’t have to worry about anyone but me. My fantasy right now is to get that for 24 hours, except when Sage’s grandpa takes her for the weekend (about once every 6 mo. or so) I miss her. It’s not that I have to be someone else, I did too much of that in school. I decided that for better or worse I was going to be myself, not what I thought others wanted me to be. It’s just that I’m always responsible for Sage, even when she’s asleep, except when she’s in school, and then I’m usually asleep or doing something with mom.
DH spends time with her on his days off, but I still need to make sure he doesn’t have something going on before I can do something and I can’t really get alone time. I need my alone time and I don’t seem to get much of it as a stay home mom.

I was single for six years (20 to 26) and know what you mean about wanting companionship but not being lonely due to family, friends etc… I wasn’t willing to date for the sake of dating.

That’s a really good song; I’ll have to see if I can find it. I think with a few changes we’re all that; it hits a chord with me too. The only line I don’t connect to is “To my husband I'm an ordinary wife” I don’t think my DH thinks of me as ordinary, one of the few things I have to thank his ex for, she was so abusive and messed up that DH really respects what he found in me.

It’s always good to talk! I shut my self in too many times and had my problems grow, or on the other side, thought I was the only one who had my problems.

I love Iris’ they are probably my favorite flowers.

Everyone has to find the person who is right for them. I held out for a long time, for my age, to find someone who was really right, but I did find him. If you are looking I hope that you have the same luck I did.

We had such a hard rain the day before yesterday, we’re known for rain, but we get light rain, a lot, this was buckets. I had a bout an inch in an empty bucket I had outside. I so want a rain gauge!

Cindy, I have a lot of ghosts and demons from drinking and driving. I’ve never dealt directly with a true alcoholic, but I’ve lost a lot of friends to drunk drivers, directly or indirectly. I’m, rightfully, a true pest on drinking and driving. I don’t drive personally, but I’ve refused to get into a car with my ride if they drank too much multiple times. It’s just not worth it. Worse is that the drunk usually survives.

Sage wants clothes for her cats, so I’m going to try my hand at that. We’ve also been talking about doing Renfaire again, and I’d be making the clothes, of course my sewing machine, by choice, is a different beast from all of you, an 19th century trundle sewing machine.

Phyllis, it seems to me you should be able to search him. If he doesn’t want that he can always move out. If he doesn’t accept it, just kick him out, that I know you legally can do.

Sheesh... I didn't get to this page yesterday... and it's already full...
I must confess... I haven't read all of it... and honestly, I don't think I can... you girls were too chatty yesterday.
I got really busy yesterday and Don came home early unexpectedly last night, so I didn't get back on.

I did something really stupid yesterday... please, don't laugh too hard.
I picked Mike up from Track practice, and had a few errands to run before coming back home. First thing Mike said when he got in the truck was that he was hungry. So, I tried to rush through the errands. First stop was to Lowes to get some strawberry plants... they had 9pack plugs behind the sign that said Strawberries, so I grabbed 2 of them, and rushed around to find a couple other things... Mike is following close to my heels. I check out, and back in the truck... on to Walmart... got a couple things, and back to the truck. Then, we stop for a burger to go, and back home. After dinner, I went out to plant my strawberries in the "homemade" strawberry pots I made... and I got to looking at the plants... thought they looked kind of funny... not quite like strawberry plants. Upon closer inspection, I realized that they were Big Boy Tomato plants... SHEESH... I do know the difference between maters and berries...
Well, since I already have 17 tomatoes planted, I certainly didn't need 18 more... so I returned them to Lowes, and had to stand there red faced and tell the clerk that I had mistaken them for strawberries... she really gave me a pitiful look. Quit laughing now, I'm not done.
Lowes didn't have any strawberry plants, so I stopped again at Walmart. They did have them, and I bought 5 containers that had about 4 plants in each container. I get home with them to find Mike going to bed already... It's only 8:00, and he wanted to get a bit more sleep before today's District Track meet... As he's saying good night to me, Don walks in the door with a present for me... I'm really wanting to get those berries planted... So, I go about my business while Don is telling me about his day... and I set the pots out on the deck, in the dark, and water them in really good. Don's still talking. I go inside, wash up, get my jammies on... Don's still talking... I pour me a glass of milk and grab some crackers... Don pours himself a drink... and he's still talking... Finally, it's 10pm, and I head for bed... Don follows, and turns on the tv to fall asleep by.
I'm just about to doze off, when Don pokes me... HONEY, " DID YOU FORGET THAT I BROUGHT YOU A PRESENT?"

OMG... I am not getting up for that !!!

So, when he gets up... I'm going to have to apologize, and find out what he brought home for me...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness, Bj, you had a day and a half! No laughing here, I have done the same thing. Read the sign that says what I am looking for, grab it, and get home to discover it is not what I needed!
And tell us how you made your own strawberry pot?
We will be waiting to hear what your pressie is?

WOW! I have a lot to catch up on. Hey ladies. How's it goin'?

Thanks to Cindy I found you. Thanks Cindy.

Lisa

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, LK... that's just the part that started at 4pm... before that, I weeded the steps that lead to the lower level, then finished hoeing the garden, and planted corn, egg plants, and brussel sprouts... then I made the strawberry pots out of two empty Folger's Containers... drilled holes in the sides, poked holes in the bottom... and when the strawberries fill out, you won't even know it's a Folgers Can... Made two of them, and put them on a double plant stand.

AND then, it was time to go get Mike...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Whew! Sounds like you will have quite the garden! Raising your own veggies, fruits... Wow! Can't wait to see it all.

Don't over do it, and watch out for those ants!

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, Don's up... He bought me a "mighty fine" staple gun to use on the upholstery for the boat seats... it's battery powered, and bought me LOTS of staples to use with it. SHEESH... he's so determined that I can do this upholstery.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, LK... it's too soon to tell how much food I'll actually produce... this is my very first veggie garden, and my sunny spot that I'm growing it all in is limited, so I'm having to be creative... Time will tell.

Hi Lisa... glad you found us.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

BJ, it will be easy to do, if you take the old cushions, and use them for a pattern. If you have the right foot for your sewing machine, you can even make your own cording for the edges of the seat.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Morning all, missed ya yesterday.

LK my heasrt goes out to you, went through the same thing with both my parents. Mom died at home and Dad died in the hospital after being there for 5 months. We repected their wishes even though we hated it.

Kim wonderful looking rooms, can't wait to see it finished and decorated.

Love all the re-enactment clothes, we do Rendezvous' sometimes and we dress in our Native American Regalia that we made.

Not sure if I have the time to do an apron swap but it would be wonderful to have a few for the garden and cooking. I have one I got from the RWB swap last year and hate to get it dirty. I used to have one my mom made me when I was little. It had a heart shaped bib on it. My daughter wore when she was little and so did Kali. It finally wore out and I had to throw it away, broke my heart to do it but it was almost unrecognizable from all the repairs to it.

Sunshine for the next couple of days finally, so I'm off to work outside and get some more seeds planted and some babies transplanted.

Have a great day everyone.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Phyllis thanks for breakfast! Especially the fresh fruit--love it.

Trying to be patient while waiting, yet again, on the newest yard people to show up to work. Have a bad feeling it ain't gonna happen today. Bummer!!

Bright and sunny but with a little nip in the air--great weather for being out of doors.

BJ, what a day you had --don't overdo it so that you are to tired when we all barge in on you in May. That wouldn't be any fun.

Laura, my 2 granddaughters have really long hair they wear in a braid--but me and long hair just don't mix well. Now that I am older and I enjoy my wash and wear style.

Well off to work on today's list of "will get done today" projects. Later.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I thought it was a law that if you lived in Florida you had to have short hair! ^_^

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Nope but it sure is cooler in the summer months. I am just lazy that is all--and with a "moon pie" face so short is my style.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Does anyone know what this bird is. I have 2 of them out front in the mesquite tree where I have a squirrel feeder hanging for Dad. Birds eat out of it too, and when I saw these I had to grab my camera.
I will post it on the bird thread too, if no one here can identify them.
Maybe some sort of oriole?

LK... I wasn't about to make my own welt... so, we bought that to match the vinyl we ordered... and we also bought the hidem to match.
The lady I talked to at the upholstery shop told me that the hardest thing I'll ever have to upholster is boat seats... so, if I actually accomplish this, I can upholstery anything... I do plan to cut the old vinyl off to use as a pattern...

Marion... I'm with ya, sistah... I'm all about wash and wear hair... the shorter the better... can always be dressed up with big earrings if I ever do need to dress up sometime.

Hi Robin !!!

Well, I got Don off to work... and now I'm off to start my day... got some more transplants ready to go in the ground... and some weeding to do... and Lord knows, I always find about a doz other things that need doing while I'm at it...

See you all later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This is a close up of the bird. I searched the bird section, but did not find any orioles looking like this, and there is no place to post a question on birds?

Morning Ladies,

Had a great workout at Curves today...545 calories burned up. Came home, Rick said my mom called. Called mom, wants to know what diet foods I want told her not to worry about. Talked for a while then she had to tell me about my DD's MIL. Not only does she have a 4 cm spot of cancer on her lung she also has it in her lymph nodes. She had 5 hours of chemo Monday and then again today. They put a shunt in that goes straight to the cancer, and her doctor seems to think that she will recover from this. Dear lord, I hope she does.

Well many things to do before I head out to Mom's. Many flowers all blown over. Dang wind broke 1 of my brussle sprout plant right off at the ground. Still have 4 left so hopefully I will get some veggies.

Will check in on and off until I leave so...........Ya All have a Great Day ^_^
