Please go to the previous room, if you hadn't seen Kim's progress with her new home. We're so proud of her ^_^

So sorry Stacey.. forgotten to give you your hugs this morning!
(((((((((((((((((((((((((STACEY)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Hope you are drawing closer to being your old self back. We sure miss you..toots and all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone!

Kim beautiful hopuse and colors o n the wall!

Phyllis, I agree, Get some tough love, and put your foot down.
it is your house too!

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning All,

Phyllis so sorry you are still having problems with the step son. If you do what BJ says and throw everything out in the hall way. I would take the door off also, then he can't "hide".

Ginkgo, increases bloodflow to the brain speeding recovery from stroke and improving memory.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I remember reading that.. thanks Cindy.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ah, remind me again what CRS is? Oh, that remembering thingee, right? Dark, gray outside with the threat of yet more rain on top of the 3.5 inches we had yesterday. We won't even discuss the tree limbs that are down--green one not dead one!! Guess it is nature's way of pruning out excess limbs or something like that.

Phyllis, so sad to hear you are continuing to have problems. Wish I could help but I have absolutely not advice--other than to tell you stand strong! Know we are all here for you, now and always.

Tisha, old sun bonnets! I haven't laughed that hard in a while as it recalled memories of my "lil" Granny who always wore one outside plus the apron! I, too, wish I have managed to get one of hers but being the least favorite granddaughter I didn't. Even as a child I didn't go along with this "do as hubby says" attitude she grew up with. We won't even go into how my grandfather felt about that. To make matters worse, I had the "gall" to appear in public in a matenity bathing suit when 8 month pregnant with Kim! How dare I bring disgrace to the family? LOL We all survived to a point though.

Aprons? I still wear them, how many others do? Brain cells churning here---why not an apron swap? Thinking out loud now.

Flamingo Kim, I looooooove the colors you are using in your new home. The Zinfadel is a wonderful color. Keep the pictures coming. Of course, me I would have called it Flamingo Pink. Weird I know.

Back to sorting out the pantry. Will check back later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't wear aprons, but it sounds like a wonderful swap! I would sign up.
How are your sinus doing? Better I hope?
Marion have you seen the pj swap?

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Marion, did you wipe your feet?? Rick always asks me that when we think of the same things and I speak it out loud. Last night after reading about aprons. I was thinking an apron swap would be fun. I'd like to have one for out in the garden. There are so many cute apron pattern kits at Joanns. Every time I go in there I stop and look at them, and think I want to make one. But stop I've got enough to do now, lol.

So are you going to hostess it?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I "shore" did wipe my feet, Cindy! LOL Great minds think alike for sure. I have a beautiful garden apron Deborah sent to me but the problem is, I don't want to mess it up--I use it for my dress "company coming " apron inside. I know Deborah, it is for the garden but I just can't make myself do that!! Sorry.

Let me think about the swap and if there would be enough interest. I really need to finish up a few things before I get overloaded right now. Kim has been informed there isn't any funding to move the staff into the new school and each teacher will be responsible for moving their classroom's materials. Needless to say, Mom has been called in to help --other friends also. She leaves for Costa Rica the last part of June so she really needs to have everything finished as quickly as she can.

Thanks for asking Linda Kay, yes to a certain degree they are a little better but still not cleared completely. Don't think this would be bothering me if I had completely gotten my strength back from the food poisoning ordeal. Geez, why didn't my Mom tell me it gets harder to "bounce" back from things as you get older? Maybe she did and I didn't hear it or chose to ignore it. Most likely the latter!

Jaye, I keep meaning to mention that I wish you had been here for Easter. We had the "sugary" glaze on the side--I prefer my ham straight!! We had a little potato salad and loads of fresh veggies plus Dilly Bread. No dessert, can you believe how good we were? I can't. Actually I had baked a coconut cake for a gathering the day before and it was all gone. I didn't even get a slice--oh well, if I had been intended to get some I would have. That's my story and I am sticking to it!!!!

Special feature in our paper today on rain gardens and rain barrels and composter being sold in Tallahassee by the Waste Management Department in a couple of weeks. Need to mark my calender. After the rains we have been having, I now see where I might have a very good place for a rain garden. Need to check it out a little more but a plan is starting to develop. Stay tuned for future installments.

Coushatta, LA

Howdy everyone!!!

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh I would be interested in an apron swap!!!!!! Count me count me!!!!
WOW! Kim, house is looking great! Keep posting progress so we can follow along with moral support, since we can't be there for the physical part.
Marion so glad to hear those sinuses are getting better. I'm right there with you on those. I'm still not quite over mine either. Got a good case this time.

Coushatta, LA

OH Jaye, you have your hands full now with apron.Tee he he

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maid M.. "CRS" Can Remember Stuffs.. to put it mildly!
Doesn't Florida run a state lottery like most states do, so say to 'help' with educational costs?
Same here too Maid M.. schools' budgets greatly reduced, but the football teams prosper!
Oh please start an apron swap.. I'll sign up too!

As for bonnets, I think you'll see some old Cajun ladies wearing them down in bayou country. So quaint.. maybe we can find patterns for them and make our own? It would be a wonderful competition! Any theme even humorous ones!!
What say you all??

Cody, I'll be cutting.. TODAY!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

thanks girls means alot for y'all to be here for me.

I am sitting in my car on laptop trying to find out if I can just go home since I didn't get picked and make sure that room is cleaned properly
before I left the house this morning he had gotten up and left for work and tossed most of the cans in the trash and brought the dirty dishes to the kitchen...I went in and stripped the bed and started a load as the pillow cases that were suppose to be white were brown from not being washed every 2 wks.
I then took the 4 12 pack boxes and the one case totaling 3 cases of beer to the trash and took all the clothes in the baskets and floor and put them in the kitchen ...when I left the bed only had the pillows that i had run through the dryer on them and had sprayed the whole room with Lysol

the bed is the one my daughter helped me buy for my son and it will stay in the room as it will be a guest room so it needs to stay good.....

I am hoping DH gets the hint with the laundry and does somehing if i dont or do go home

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Just wait till y'all graduate from CRS to CRAFT....ROFLLLL

It was raining, sun came out for 10 minutes, and now it's getting dark again... Yep... April Showers...LOL...I don't see how they are going to bring May Flowers if I can't get em planted....LOL

Have a good day girls...and Phylis....It's called tough love, and ya gotta do what ya gotta do...If they are over 18, not in school, not holding down a job, then they are on their own...My youngest used to be a bit wild, and he asked me if I was going to get him a car for graduation...I told him noooo, I am going to get you a beautiful set of luggage...FULLY PACKED!!!

Oh thanks Jaye. I have a rather advanced case of that disease!!! Okay Dusty, I have a feeling CRAFT is what we think it might be so spill it for us, please. I am probably already way along with that disease also. LOL

May flowers down here had better be real wet ground lovers to survive. Then I do forget, this is Florida, and in a couple of days of the strong sun it can be powder can dry again. Have manage to identify an area that I believe will be a perfect rain garden--gonna check it out and then see what I can do about making it a reality.

Jaye, patterns are available for the old fashioned bonnets. Some through the reenactment groups though can be really hard to put together. I seriously believe the people who make those patterns for reenactment outfits do not sew!!!! If they did they would not be so difficult to do the easiest thing!!!

Let me take a look at the list of swaps and see what I can do about a date. Give a couple of days to think--slower at my ancient age.

Oh, Jaye, Kim does get a lot of funding where she teaches but as she said, she will gladly pack her classroom to have state of the art equipment to use teaching. BTW, she teaches in Georgia at Bainbridge HS. Florida, I am embarrassed to say, does not pay as well as Georgia nor do they have the funding for class room equipment for some odd reason.

Well back to the routine for today.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sewing and Quilting: Collecting and/or making aprons okay so I did it wrong but atleast you can see where I want you to check. She is interested in doing an exchange or swap.

Coushatta, LA

LOL!!!Jaye.

Well ladies i will be back on tonight when my ANGLE is he bed and in dream land.So later gators.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Heavenscape, what kind of aprons are you sewing? I sew the 'diaper pin' aprons for the re-enactments, and today I am working on little girl dresses for that same thing. So far I have four finished except for the buttons and button holes.
I'm picking up a girlfriend for lunch and going to try to talk her into riding to Lake City with me to check out some fabric and more thread.
I also have one of those bonnet patterns around here somewhere that you all are talking about.
I had thought that I was going to have my own sewing room, so I could move out of the livingroom, but not to happen. One son has never left home, the one older than he has moved back in, so all my bedrooms are full again. I'm still in the livingroom. boo hoo.
I also have two sheds outside, either that would make a great sewing room, alas, full of those same two boys' things.
So still in the livingroom,,,,,oh, said that already didn't I?
I love to read all the posts here, I am as human as everyone else when I read the posts. lol
I'm not the only one suffers from CRS!
Ya'll have a great day, will check back in soon. Want to get one more dress finished before Terri calls for lunch. We're doing Chinese. love their rice! lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

My hat is off to you Marilyn for making reenactment costumes. Have some several for my son but it is an all out "battle" when I do and no pun intended!! The last one whipped me--could be I am not sewing under the best of set ups. I just have a tiny corner at the moment and my cutting table had one of it's legs fall off. Waiting until I can officially move into the craft area before replacing the table. Beyond repair this time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, we finally got the report from Dad's Dr. and it does not look good. His rested heart rate was 33, and his active rate was 96. He said it is not a bad report, but it is not real good either, and he still want to put a pace maker in, but Dad does not want it! So we have to go with his wishes. Everything has been explained to him, and was told it would help him breathe better, but he still says NO!
So we will just make every day, the best that we can, and accept what happens, when ever it happens.

Dusty, I liked the gift of fully packed suitcases! That is a nice idea I think!

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Prayers and a huge hug Linda Kay. Sometimes it can be very rough going with their decisions--know with late hubby--but ultimately it is their life and they should have some input and dignity with what happens. Having said that I know it doesn't make it any easier.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Marion, I have called my Sister, and Brothers, so everyone knows what is going on, and for once, everyone agreed, and no arguing!
Guess he is just ready to go home, and be with Mom!

Marion I just heard on the news, that a tornado went through Jackson Florida, and a bunch of people are with out power. I do hope you and everyone is OK?

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

That is more toward the central part of the state which from what I read on the newspaper updates, is getting pounded today. I do know yesterday they reported a tornado was moving across just about 8 miles south of us. From the lightning and the winds I can believe it. Hurricane winds at times--thus so many green limbs down.

I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LK, that is probably his wish. So sorry this is happening.

A little man that lives 3 mobiles down from me was telling me he has cancer both lungs and doc gave him 6 months. He and his wife just celebrated 64 years of marriage last Tuesday. He is such a sweetheart, gets out everyday walks around the whole park with his walker, WITHOUT his oxygen which he isn't suppose to do. Loves to talk to us about fishing. Always says how pretty the yard is and wished his neighbors would clean theirs up, lol.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

(((Phyllis)))
BJ’s idea is really a good one….and the three strikes and definitely and finally out is good!! You know you can call any of us any time.

Jaye I love that one!!!! Have to tell Bill….our 40th is in June!

Beautiful Kim….just don’t go and wear yourself out!! But is going to be so nice when it is all finished.

BJ let us know when you discover it…..Oh and then we will all have one reallllly Wealthy Sistah won’t we!!!!

Marion aren’t we glad times have changed……I think…….I have never had problems with swim suits…but .I am still not used to all the pregnant gals I see running around in the skin tight tee shirts and hip hugger jeans….must be getting old…..

The two “Aprons” I have are #1 a ¾ sleeve, shirt type that ties in the back that belonged to Bill’s Grand mother…..and #2 A white cotton “Chef Type” with Holly Trim for Christmas……I take after my dad, I am good cook, but a bit messy in the process at times.

Oh Dusty, I am getting so close!! ROFL!!

LK, we just spent yesterday morning at the Attorney’s office with my mother in law …..making changes in her will to Five Wishes to let all know what she does and does not want…..I don’t know if you have heard of “Five Wishes” (Death with Dignity) as Texas is not one of the Five Wishes States. But I think we are all going to fill out the paper work here...if you just Google Five Wishes.....there are several sites that explain it all and I think it is an excellent idea.

Well, need to get up and get some things done so talk to you all later....

(((hugs and prayers))) to all...........

Please keep Stacy in your prayers.....I have been through what she is experiencing....I was blessed that a wonderful lady working at our clinic recognized my symptoms and put me on the right path to deal with it.....she's an Angel now but I am forever grateful to her.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the info on the five wishes. Too bad I can't do it here. He has a living will, "advanced directive" some call it. But we need to go do a few small updates.
Well, tomorrow is tax day, make sure you all file your taxes on time. Don't need the IRS, coming to take on of the Sistah's away! LOL

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, we will all be here in virtual space, holding your hands.
Tell him that he has more 'daughters' that he doesn't know of, praying for him.
(((((((LK)))))))

Dusty, before DG, my crafting interests are limited to quilting and crocheting. Now.. hmm.. I think I need a barn just to store the new interests I have!
I want to do everything except glass blowing!!!

Marilyn, the aprons I sew are of the simple full aprons with pockets, and I like to line most of them.
Only ones I won't attempt are the ones with ruffles. Thinking of doing BJ's with ruffles.. hmmm.
Yep, I agree with Maid M.. you're certainly the queen of sewing if you do reenactments costumes. Those are truly brain busters!

Maid M, you are right. Nature's helping us along with getting rid of dead limbs. Same weather conditions here lately. That's all I do when the rain stops, picking up sticks!
At least the mosquitoes haven't return.

Trisha, you are indeed blessed. I wished I had help or have known Jesus years ago, when I was going through a rough period. I wasted 2 years.. yep, took me that long to snap out of my situational depression.
I thank God, that I'm still here.

Stacey, know that we love you and will be praying for you.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Linda Kay, I couldn't agree more with Trisha, I pushed and pushed to have every thing in place and a month before hubby collapsed we finally got it done. The hardest part was having power of attorney so had to sign papers I rather not have been signing as he was to weak to write. Took a long time to get over that but alas I think I have finally crossed that bridge. It isn't a pleasant topic but having to do things under stress can be much worse. Keeping allin my prayers.

Tink, if you are lurking, please get some help, we need you here with us and miss you so very much. If we are all honest with ourselves I think we will admit we all have been there at one time or another. Saying doesn't make it easier but alteast you know we do care and understand.

Jaye, dead limbs I can understand but I have great big limbs full of beautiful green leaves down now. Of course, it did thin out some of the canopy so it is a little more filtered shade. God's plan to shape and clean the trees I guess. Fine with me.

Have you ladies noticed the apron interest thread on the sewing and quilting forum? If not, check it out.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Geez, went to HD to get uv filter for pond, then to Wally World. The wind is blowing so hard it was all I could do to walk towards the store. Why did I bother combing my hair? Looks like someone took an egg beater to it. I'm staying in the rest of the day. Might as well work on some geeky critters, lol.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ah, the beauty of very short hair, Cindy! LOL That and I am lazy about doing it. Wash and go cut for me!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't see it Marion. Is it a ways down the list?

Jaye, thanks for the hugs, and prayers.
I do have power of attorney, so that helps alot! We had to have it when Mom first passed.

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I had short hair for soooooooooooooo many years, that I got tired of fixing it all the time. I love long hair so that's why I decided to grow it out. Around the house I have it up in a pony tail, but not when I go out. I had my very first hair cut when I was 9, it was waist length. I decided to get it cut in a pixie. OH MAN!!! my dad was so MAD that he tried to pull the rest of it out, OUCH!!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Here LK,
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/975160/

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL Cindy, I think we all tried the pixie at some time in our life. Mine gave new meaning the term "moon pie" face.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol Maid M... that's what my mom called me.. moon face!! So I grew my hair longer, part in the middle.. and had the Yoko Ono look way before the world knew her!!

Thanks..I signed up for the apron swap. This will be fun..

Raleigh, NC

I"m back.
well, didn't get picked, again. OH! it was a nice juicy one - 2nd degree murder, 2 24-yr old boys, in broad daylight in the street shooting at each other. ebony kid there was beefy enough to look scary until he turned around, he's baby faced kid next door and short. not intimadating, not exactly scared, but "trepidation" on his face. he's claiming self defense. there were drugs involved. oh my, that would have been a good one. both attorneys were pathetic. ADA was anorexic, lousy posture, no fashion sense and a famous last name hereabouts. someone should tell her stooping her shoulders at 23 will give her dowager hump by 40, law license or no. will wager defense was public defender, can you say well aged old poor quality suit, jowly, hair to long in back, looked greasy, and combover on top? with all kinds of weird tics and no law talent. hope that boy is guilty, his lawyer was creepy good ol' boy. but if that gal doesn't learn to talk louder - 35% of that jury had grey or white hair - maybe he does have a chance.

this time was 49th juror on the list. They seated a jury by #24. danged old courthouse with "slow train to hell" elevators - it took me 25 mins. just to get up to the jury headquarters early this morning and an extra hour to leave. made it home by 1:30. been plant trading since then.

was just about to head outdoors after lunch when lightening started. Randall says it's been raining pretty good off and on all day.

love that lamp Kim. Love aprons, too. well, might as well do laundry - Phyllis's got me thinking on mine now.

ex was alchie, but no one listened to me. ten years later, he plead guilty to domestic violence, was made to go to alcohol abuse program and anger management training. our son went out there to live with him and was punched at least once, (got the arrest reports) and within 14 months was in his own alchie program at high school. so y'all are not alone. Danny's not kept a driver's license for more than six months at a time. he just moved to Queens NY, where he can get around without a car. was driving him around since I left work. he can't move in here, ever. we've already lost our lives' savings twice with custody mess with his dad, there wasn't anything left to worry about losing with him. I've followed my folks' rules - never lend to anyone you gave birth to. did once - lost $10k. never again. If they need $, let them work and save like my folks had to, or do without. builds character, I'm guessin.

Randall is recovered alchie, been bone dry since Jan. 1982. Navy gave him training to recognize substance abuse, he saw it in himself and went cold turkey with AA help. He's worked with Danny. sometimes I'd like to butt kick his dad, but I should really buttkick myself for listening to the folks that said let my son go live out there. make no mistake. Danny put more stress on our marriage and my health than anything else ever has. EVER.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Have been reading the posts off and on all day. My prayers and my heart go out to you all who are in your situations. I have been in most of them at one time or another and can relate.
My last marriage, I discovered a song by Tammy Wynette and I swear she wrote it about me. title, "the only time I'm really me". I will find the words and post them. short of the story, the only time I was really me was when I was asleep. all day I had to be somebody else for everybody else.
I'm me now, and I can be me awake or asleep. I love my life, but to be honest, sometimes I do get lonely for companionship, but then I think of how lucky I am to have the friends I have, the family that is mine, and the health to enjoy all God gives me everyday, and I get over being lonely.
But ladies, please know we all care about you and what you are going through. Special prayers for you all tonight.

When my tulips started blooming I thought that I would have a huge mixture of colors. Not so, first all the reds bloomed, then little by little the other colors have started. The latest to bloom is these dark almost black purple ones.

Marilyn, love that poem in the picture and it is so true.
