Rocks and a vernal pool.
Stones, rocks, boulders and erratics 2009
makes me dizzy looking at that... not that it takes much
Cool, Victor!

Karen - never been in the park although i've been to Hingham many times.
I used to play Hangman.
Check out the park sometime, Bill. I'm sure you will like it. Have you ever been to the World's End park in Hingham? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World%27s_End_(Hingham) That's another beautiful place.

Here's a link to a site about Wompatuck State Park: http://www.mass.info/hingham.ma/parks/wompatuck_state_park.htm

Beautiful areas - both of them.....
i've been to world's end years ago - don't get the hingham anymore
I need to find some place like that. Walking can be so therapeutic.
That's for sure, Candyce. I took a walk today across the Powder Point Bridge in Duxbury. It's a long, wooden bridge that is half a mile across, so it's one mile round trip. Weather was brisk and quite blustery, but it was still a nice walk. That's one nice thing about my job that I get to go walking with my clients at nice places when the weather permits.
Karen
My DH wants your job!!! May I ask what you do that involves going for walks???
I work with special needs adults. Most of the ones I work with have some degree of mental retardation and some have some physical disabilities as well. Most of them like walking, though some will complain about it the whole time, like it's torture. Oh, well, we try our best to get them out there and get some exercise.

What a wonderful vocation. I'm sure you don't hear "Thank You" often enough so here's one just for you THANK YOU!!!!!
I'll echo that ....
Thank You!!
I just found this thread....don't know how I missed it before. Very interesting rocks! Victor - that ice face on your downspout was amazing!
Nice hat.
I'll tell my friend you like it.
big rocks
Well, thanks for the 'thank you's', Quilter and Candyce!
Nice erratics, Victor. I just love rocks. I took some pics of rocks at Wompatuk State Park yesterday. Will post as soon as I upload the them.

This is obviously man made - but very exciting for me! My dh has finally shown some interest in our waterfall. Hopefully it willbe done in time for one of my little ones b-day parties. Not only will the waterfall look cool - There won't be a mix mess where all the rocks he will use are thrown. Then I will be ableto start planting stuff in that area.
Man made definitely counts! It's gorgeous!
Wow, I'd love to have a pool like that.
Karen
The only reason we can have one is because my dh built it, that's what he does for a living.
Nice to have a man who builds pools!
Karen
I want one of those!
Me, too!
Great outcroppings make great conversation, don't they?
Thanks everyone, according to my dh we paid about a quarter of what a customer would pay. Otherwise we would never be able to have one. He did all the labor, besides a day here and there that he paid someone to help him out, was able to use company machines for excavating, moving rocks and grading. He used leftover tile and coping for a very reduced price and equipment his company didn't mind giving him free. You'd be surprised at how many times a company ends up with tile or coping that a customer changes their mind about. My husband is a whiz at fixing pool equipment, so all our equipment was from customers replacing old eqipment with new. He would just take parts off other older ones to fix the used ones and we end up with refurbished stuff that works like new. Most of the time he fixes stuff that the company had given up on - sometimes even the maufacturers. : ) The biggest expenses for us were the fence, pavers, gunite and plaster. He had to hire a gunite and plaster crew because his company he worked for at the time, subs that part out. It is nice that he can do it himself - the only downside is this is the third year of him working on it. A paying customer would be completely finished in an average of 3 months. Not that I'm complaining - he is just so busy at work it is hard for him to find the time and energy to do it all.
I have a in-ground I would love to get rid of!
Victor, I'll take it!
That's very nice, Meredith! I can't wait to see the finished project with your plantings.
