Thanks Allison! Pretty much just pulmonaria. But, pulmonaria and my cats are about all that's on the computer right now :-/ Oh well, pulmonarias it is!
Garden photos of '09.....#11
if it's not raining when I get home I want to take some shots of my hellebore... they are all opening up nice but one... I looked through my stuff... the one hellebore that I thought I waited 5 years for is actually 4 years.. and that one flopped over with the wind last weekend
:(
ohhhh..... that's so sad. especially after all of the anticipation. Did it have a bud on it? it sounds like it did. I've heard someowhere that if you take the stem with the bud on it and put it in water that is just a deg or 2 under boiling that it will hold on several days longer, which just might be long enough to get it to open? I didn't believe that when I heard it. But, I've tried it, and it is true that the stem and flower will last longer. I'm not really sure that it's all that much longer though.
yes it did... and didn't open up yet.... at least I know it's a dark one.. it's a royal heritage ...
not longer than my one last year... the one in front of my house held it's blooms until the middle of summer... can't wait to see what happens this year
ohhh great. That should be really nice then. still too bad about the one though. It will be good to see your pics when you have them.
I have one bud on a Hellebore that I've had for two years now that I'm hoping will open. I had to transplant it a few weeks ago to make way for the stone walls. I hope it will still open.
Here's a Pasque flower bud, 'Blaue Glocke'.
great pics everyone
yes - very nice. I need to get out there and click a few.
Pasque flower is lovely Dyane
Great shots, Shelly and Dyane!
You are about 3 weeks ahead of us. I cant wait.
Great to see those red tulips
I'm such a wuss...it's too cold out there to go take pics. April should NOT be this cold.
Hi everyone.
There are a number of you who hang out on this thread so I'll ask my echinacia question here.
I am thinking of ordering any of these varieties.
Has anyone had a BAD experience?
SunDown
HarvestMoon
TikiTorch
JoAnn i have sundown and tiki torch both were new last year - tiki torch flowers were true to the pic's - sundown i do not remember.
Thanks Bill.Sundown is pictured as a really dark orange-red with an almost brown cone.
maybe i have sunrise? to many of these to keep track - or i may have ordered one from a coop recently:)
Thanks for your efforts.
Drumlin, our son built all of those wall for us when he was in high school & college---he's 34 now, so they've been in place awhile. Some of the stones came from our property, but most came from the place next door to us---it was an original field stone wall, but in poor repair, & in an odd place---all of our hill was at one time an orchard, & I guess a farm before that. Anyway, our neighbors gave us the stones. Our son made 4 raised beds for us, but they do need maintenance. DavidP---my hyacinths are in a garden bed, but also around a magnolia tree, which I know gets mowed! Here are the garden ones---the others aren't in bloom yet.
I forgot to say how much I enjoyed everyone's photos. Shelley, the 'Raspberry Splash' is a winner. Also, Allison, & other hellebore growers, yesterday my art teacher was showing us examples of pansy watercolors, when I spotted one of hellebores---outstanding!
Nice shots, Allison! Love the hellebores. Stop cheating with the tulips!
LOL... I had to never know when mine are going to be eaten... at least these I can keep on the deck for a while... safer up there
I like the 'Floppy Noodle' hellebore for the name alone ^_^. That's not cheating Victor. Putting a picture of tulips on a stick in your garden would be cheating (she says, because she was seriously considering doing that)
