Spring Glories Part 2

Melbourne, FL

Continuing to post photos of Morning Glories from seeds sent to me from bluespiral and beckygardener. They asked me to grow their glories and take pics of them for the forum. I almost feel I need a separate thread just for the remarkable Morning Glory "Rebecca".

You have really lovely Blooms going on there, gardenpom!!! I really like your Rebecca, too!

Have you been getting a lot of rain the past day or two? It finally rained down here. :-) :-)

Holy Moly what is THIS one?! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6347575

WOW the second pic of Rebecca is really " pro " picture , I love it .

I was thinking not to grow rebecca this year , but your pics make change my mind.
If Heavently Blue is THE tricolor , I think Rebecca is The purpurea.

love those blooms!

I had this burgundy Rebecca last year...I don't know if this was a colour-change because of the heat, but could be...it was around mid-day when I took the photo.

Mine develop more purple later in the morning also. They are at their best early. Maybe Becky can answer your question, Gerris....I think it is Gray Mist ( or something similar).

The 2nd photo of 'Rebecca' is absolutely stunning in close-up! Well done!

gardenpom - The gray blooming vine could be Gray Fog : http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/beckygardener/7251/

Yes - Rebecca will turn more burgundy in color as the afternoon approaches.

All of your blooms and vines are doing very well, gardenpom!

Martin yours are just beautiful too! :-)

Thanks Becky, and yes we did have some nice rain yesterday. Had a beautiful white Poppy open today.

I like that poppy! Grey Fog has a nice lavender ring around the tube I am enjoying a lot!

Rebecca and Joyce Cobb (its partner) are my favorite MGs, I just love them, and I'm glad they are getting spread around.

Gorgeous pics too.

Thanks, guys. I find it easy taking pics of such lovely flowers. Becky, I got the Spanish Flags planted out, along with a few more MG varieties. I also have a Scarlet Runner Bean about to bloom.

Flowers from April 3. Today would have been my fathers' 91st birthday. I got my love of gardening and especially Morning Glories from him. He always had Heavenly Blue growing, wherever we lived.

You have the same idea I do - to grow Spanish Flag MGs and Scarlet Runner Bean. I have those growing along my fence, too! And I see a couple of Moonflower seedlings popping up as well! :-)

Melbourne, FL

My Moonflower from last season is coming back, I did not have to plant any this year.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

gardenpom - Okay ... you may have just confirmed my suspicions ... When I pulled up all my dead vines ... I noticed that the Moonflower vine roots looks really healthy and strong. But I yanked them up anyway thinking they would eventually die. Now I am thinking I should've left them in the ground. Is this supposed to be a perennial in Florida in zones 9-10?

Melbourne, FL

I don't know. All I know is I left mine alone and it is climbing back up the fence, and in fact the growth that is way up in a tree is also growing again.
