Tropical Garden #34

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Nice article on the tree fern, RJ. I really like the picture with the snow on it; pretty. I wish mine would have a nice trunk like yours. That is probably my favorite of all your plants.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Patty, your's is growing very well- it should be starting a trunk anytime.

Rita, the only palms I have in the ground are Majesty palms...I'd say not over 5 feet in Height, one by bird bath in back and one by lamp post...Jeanne gave them to me.

That dogwood I have was given to me by a local here..I do nothing to it but ignore it..blooms every spring.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Rita, I went outside and sat down in my chair after I wrote that, and staring at me was..oh an 8 or 9 foot palm tree..LOL, glad you know what's in my garden, cause I sure don't....it's the foxtail hybrid palm I'm sure your referring to..it's still in it's spot, and very happy..

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

oh my.. all of your photos of flowers and plants just blow me away into heaven.. thanks for that.. gotta go wet vac up the melted snow in this basement now..
Rita: that bloom about to I posted way back when? was a blueberry parfait tulip pair.. LOL ( found the sticker I put on the bottom of it)

Red Oak, TX

vossner, thanks, that hibiscus is called Yoda, I do have a few with scary names like Nightmare, Black voodoo and Devils eye. I would like to have a Voodoo magic though. Which ones are your favorites?
The English dogwood is very easy to root, and is more shrub or vine like. If you would like to give it a try, let me know.

Rj, thanks, it is a beautiful palm. I wanted to know the name so that I can look for one.
That was the first time that I have seen one. I also found a Fishtail palm in the plant files today that is quite unusual.

joeswife, sorry to hear about the melted snow in your basement. I hope that your plants are OK.
It was a beautiful day. The garden is coming to life, and so are the weeds.
This is the only bloom that survived on the Dutchmans pipe vine, the others fell off.

Rita that clematis is so pretty. I just love em; wish I had better luck with them.

My iochroma indigo that I got at Zone 9 Tropicals is blooming. Can't believe it! It is such a small plant like maybe 8 to 10 inches tall and is has multiple blooms. I do like the color. I debated on getting the indigo cause I wanted the blue; now I am so glad that I got both! I do like the iochromas too RJ. How long into the summer will they bloom? My wine one is still going strong and it started blooming really early.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I don't know why I can't keep iochroma alive. I've killed it twice.

Rita, Mockorange, ah, that rings a bell. thanks for your offer. A local friend is rooting some for me. I didn't know that was the same as english dogwood.

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)
