RJ, Are you feeling a little cool breeze this morning? Old man winter in back in Dallas again! Hope for the last, THE EVRY LAST time i HOPE!!! Jerry

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Jerry, we are supposed to have the same cold weather tonight for us..........44 degrees, but the sun is shining.

Sunshine in Florida, there is a story behind that Tia Pink.........a man at a nursery in Boerne, Texas found it in Florida years ago and started propagating it, so it is not registered.. She is a magnificent plant. I had been looking for years to buy one but he likes to sell them in a little pot with 3 cuttings. Finally over a year ago, I saw one for sale at his place and bought it.

I feed my hoyas and everything on the front porch 3 kinds of fertilizer......and they stay in bloom..........First I use an orchid food by Better Grow with a 20 nitrogen count.......then I use a fertilizer that the man in Beorne makes urea free of 14-37-12 (1/2 tsp per gallon)...........
Then for good measure, I have been using the orchid fertilizer old time mix from a guy who sells the fertilizer recipe on line.
Here it is: It will do wonders for not only orchids but everything else too
1 Can of Beer
1 Cup of Epsom Salts
1/2 Cup of Ammonia
2 cups of water
Mix all four ingredients and put in a container
Use 1/2 ounce at a time. One time every two weeks. Add this mixture to the water (1 gallon) when watering your orchids.

phughes, I wish that I had some good advice to get your honeysuckle to bloom for you. Mine is in the very back yard where it does not get watered or fertilized.
The clorox and soap spray has helped immensely with mildew this last winter.(thanks)

Rj, I did not see the big dark leaf tree in the very front flower bed. LouC and I were wanting to know the name of it, and the Palm growing next to the deck.

Sunshinesw, your WBP blooms are awesome, Rj was trying to verify if his plant was putting out a bloom.

candela, It must be nice to have a chef in the house.

Happy_1, there are 4 things,I know about you now (1 )You are very funny. (2) When you sing to your plants they die, (3 )your coleus is in the Guiness World Record Book, (4) you are a Chief.
Here is another Florida weed that I love.

gessiegail, it was a pleasure looking at all your beauties, your Tia pink is also a new plant to me.

Texasbigleaves, the wind is still blowing strong this morning. I had to put extra weight on the edges to help hold the plastic down. I hope that it dies down soon. I am prepared for the cold but not the high winds.

RJ what dogwood are you growing? is it inground? information, pls.

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

Candela, your hoya looks like H. australis. They can take a lot more sun than the most hoyas, you can feed your hoyas with bloom booster or 10-10-10 weak(1/4 strength) solution weekly to help it along.

Placenciarita, nice flowers & photos.

Joeswife, pretty picture. I hope your plants are ok.

My CC in bloom today.

gosh those hoyas a CC are awsome, can they be kept inside as houseplants?
I have a dogwood tree still in a large tub, it was budded before the snow.. I havn't looked at it to see if it was damaged yet.
Couldn't find any Chalice plant at the lowes.. we are in Kansas here, Toto, and the tropicals are few and far in between .

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

Sunshine, that hoya photo was lovely... :)

hmm..dark tree in front might be purple castor bean.

palms on the deck or by the deck? I pulled two palms out of the back as they didn't seem happy.

Dogwood...have no idea , a guy from work gave it to me 5 years ago..it's in the ground by the bop...stays pretty dry all year over there.

Joeswife, I am glad that you found us again, I am very interested in your basement garden and admire your talent.
Hopefully that will be your last snowfall for the season. I love this time of year, with the garden really coming to life.

vossner, I do not have much information on the dogwood. I was given this plant and was told that it is a English Dogwood.

Red Oak, TX

Rj, now that I have all this info. on growing a Tree Fern. I will start looking for a larger size plant. I usually kill the little ones. I even have a spot by the pond to put it.
I hope that you did not toss those Palms, the one I was inquiring about is about 7-9 ft tall, and was very happy where it was.

rita, I can see you being able to grow dogwood but not randy or I (me?). Too hot here and soil not acid enough, so it must be a special cornus. I need to look into this.
