other than that, no time to read. gotta hit the hay. DH is in VA. It's his thing that he gets DD up in the mornings. his quiet time. It's on me tomorrow a.m., and with my insomnia of late, gotta take a PM and rise at 6.

so sweet dreams, sweet friends.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

BJ I would trade all the clay specials to have my lake view back again.......I really do miss the water out my window......

That is great Audrey......will keep you in our prayers for a successful and rapid recovery!

Cut spin class short tonight.....between a headache and a 7 year old decided coming home would be a good thing....had mom's car and Bill had ours so worked out well......

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Good night Bonnie, sleep well......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yeah another year with Dilly and Dolly! No Joann's too here BJ. No lake.. so no loss if we were to move!

Audrey, that surgery will soon rectify your mobility problems! Sending out prayers to you.

Bonnie, praying too that your darlin' "R" return home safe and sound so you'll get your help!! :D

Good to know about Doris, Trisha. I wish I'm as healthy as you.. with all that running around. It's a wonder you don't get mentally drained too...

If any of you tried calling me, we've been having problems with our phone lines. Supposed to get that fixed tomorrow.
Cody normally calls me.. so Hun, if you did try to call, you know why..

So if you all don't hear from me tomorrow, or I don't show up online... (still on dial-up here) don't worry.

Have a good, good night everyone!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye,((((hugs)))))))....hope they get the lines fixed.....have a good night....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Coffee is on! Bicuits and gravy this morning.
Hope you all slept well!
Kim how is the moving going? I know your so busy, getting things boxed up, and cleaned. And possibly a new manfriend too? ^_^
Donna you too. I know your so busy getting things organised. Both of you take care.
Bon how are those allergies coming along. Hope they get better soon.
I found out yesterday that dad may have had another stroke, so we will do a CT scan Thursday. He has been having a lot of problems getting to the bathroom on time, and he is forgetting a lot more things than he normally does. He also has his left hand shaking a lot, so we are going to try and find out what is going on. Add him to the prayer list please?
I try to keep him busy during the day, just watering the garden, or watching the hummers. He seems to enjoy finding a new plant about to bloom, or when the hummers start chasing each other. He even enjoys the pressies that come to the house. I sit on the sofa next to him, so he can see what it all is in the boxes!
I know that day is coming all too soon, I will have no chioce but to put him in a nursing home, and my heart will break when that day comes. I know it will be for the best, but still not an easy job!
OK, just venting, so I will go for more coffee.
Later

Morning my BSFs !!!

Oh, LK... Kiss that sweet man for me... tell him I said a big HELLO
I will certainly keep him in my prayers... and you... that's a horrible decision to make. I couldn't make it, and kept mom at home till she passed... it wasn't easy.

More rain here today... and it's going to get cooler for a couple days, then warm up again Sunday... so, maybe... just maybe... I'll get this house clean by the weekend.
Gotta go get some groceries in this house again sometime... 15 year old boys eat A LOT!!!

Don's ordering the vinyl for the boat this morning... so I better be ready to start the re upholstery when it gets here.

Thanks LK... biscuits and gravy sound good... pass me a plate, please.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning, will be going to Curves in a little while then back home to get ready for camping.

LK, you may want to change your mind about putting your father in a long term facility. I was a CNA for 18 years, until my neck surgery. Some peeps can't handle being in those places and they pass on real fast from a broken heart. They think that their family doesn't love them anymore. I wll NOT put my mom in one. I wll take care of her until the day she passes on.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, I promised my Mom, I would take care of him till I could! You don't know how heavy myheart is, having to make this decision. I know it would make him go downhill a lot faster. If it were up to my older Sister, she would not have let him come home from the hospital, when he first had his strokes back in 2001. She just can't deal with things like that! But he is here, and I will do what I can. I have tried to get some help, but the State says he makes $100.00 too much for the year to get him om medicaid, there fore he does not qualify for full time assistance. he can have someone here for 3 hours a day. While that does help, his problems continue to get worse, and the State does not care if I get any help or not.
I go to bed at night and cry sometimes, because I know I will have to make the decision in the future. In the meantime, I will do my best, and take care of him, the best I can.

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

LK Make sure if you have to do that check out all the Nursing Home at all different times of the day. When My Dad had to go to a nursing home to recoup it was bad we didn't have time to get him in other place and alot have a waiting list. When My Mom had knee surgery she got into this Nursing Home and now that she is better she is a volunteer at the Nursing home.
I so sorry that we all or most of us go threw this.
None on a little happier note I am doing good on the moving My son came into town and is on his way to help me pack He is with this uncle and they both drive a Moving truck cross country its a semi and they work for Allied Van line so he has a crap load of boxes tape and the Paper In good time cause I ran out we will pack the garage and the Attic. The one thing I need him to do is rake and clean out the gutters I want that done before I move.
Well the bedrooms upstairs and the bathroom are clean with the windows I want to get everything down from upstairs so I can wash the carpets and than it also makes the move easy I may have to start parking outside of my garage and put stuff in there.
As Far as my guy he is on vacation for 2 weeks I should say my guy as I just meet him. OK I have to get dressed my kid will be here soon
will check latter
Hugs
Flaming Kim

I don't know yet what the recovery time will be. It's better than when I had the other one done, about 10 years ago! I dreamed about the pain for 3 years! But I'm pretty tough! If they give me enough pain pills, I can work through the pain! Wish that worked with backs! Thank you all for the well wishes!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, please keep us posted.
When I had mine done 2 years ago, I was using a walker for the first month, and then on crutches for the next one. I was not allowed to do any driving for 3 months. Then I could slowly start putting more and more pressure on it.
I know all Dr.'s are different.
LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LK... YOU GET that 3 hour a day help... NOW if you can. I did the same thing, and OH my how much difference it made in my mental state.
That small break during the day (I only had them come in 3 days a week) that I had to myself was worth millions.
I didn't leave the house for a while till mom became comfortable with the home nurse... then, I went to the grocery store, just for a drive... worked in the yard, just anything to get my mind on something else for a little while.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

LK, I just can't use crutches any more! I was on a walker (hate them) for a while. I would sneak and go without at home some! Did you go for therapy? They brought it to me. I drove over 100 miles to the dr. in Nashville 3 weeks after mine! I did ask him first, though! Didn't have anyone to drive me!
How long were you in pain afterward? That's what I'm worried about! They couldn't wake me up after surgery, and I had to wait for morphine when I did wake up, and I begged them to just let me die, stop the pain! I meant it, too! It was excruiating! I'm hoping for better this time! At least maybe this will get it all over with at once!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Truthfully, the pain was terrible. I can't handle morphine, it makes me sick to my stomach. They were giving me 50mg of darvocet, after 2 days I told them I was going to seriously hurt someone, if they would not give me something more. They started giving me demoral, and that helped. The first week, I was in the hopsital, and they start with the machine to help you bend your knee. I went home with that machine. I had home therapy for the first month. The nurses came to my home everyday for therapy. After that, I went to town for therapy 3 days a week. My worst part was getting my knee to straighten out. So I made sure I took my pain meds, just before the therapist got there to work on it. That helped some too!
Don't walk on it sneeking around at home, You will do damage to it! and you don't want to go through that again!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Audrey Im hoping and praying for a quick recovery too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Deborah, how are you doing today?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning all!

Meant to get up at 6:30 to be ready for my dad to get here at 7:30. Bill woke me at 7:00 and said, "What time did you want to get up?" So a very FAST shower, needed to wash my hair and that always takes a few minutes longer, but with a swipe at makeup and the blow dryer to just my bangs, I was ready when he got here at 7:30. His appt. was for 8:00 in Springboro, and lord knows it doesn't take a half hour to get there, but that's one thing about my folks, they don't EVER want to be late for anything. This was his last acupuncture appt. He will be seeing a surgeon for a consult on his knee. He already had the other knee done and said he'd rather have the surgery than the constant pain. Audrey, good luck to you on yours!

I wanted to put my 2 cents in about nursing homes. My parents live in a retirement/nursing home and I am so glad they do. It was their decision to move there and they live in a small patio home on their own. However, they have an alarm system there that they can use if anything happens to either of them and if they need to move to the nursing part of it, they can do that at any time. Since it was their decision, I didn't have to decide to move them and they are happy where they are. Dad will be 91 next month and Mother will be 89 in July. I would have gladly taken care of them, but they are where they want to be. I do agree that it's important to check the place out, as there are many bad nursing homes.

The friends that we travel with and eat out with a lot had a rude awakening in the wee hours yesterday morning. Mark's dad had an aneurysm and by the time they got to the hospital he was gone. He was 81 years old. Sad thing is, he's to be buried Friday, Mark's birthday. :O(

So with Dusty's MIL, and now Mark's Dad, with Kathy's MIL that makes 3.

Okay, I'm ready to post some pictures!

Here is the beginning of the pond build.

And here it is just yesterday.

It is raining now, so it won't be finished any time soon. Only two more feet to go!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Joyce, that is moving along pretty good. Can't wait to see it finished. I bet you can't either?
Sorry to hear about your friend, but I pray when it is my time, I go quickly. That is how my Mother passed away 3 years ago!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

HELLO!!! DId you all miss me??

Deb-what great pressies-did you get my card-you will get a package soon-but as Auntie M says "perfection takes time"LOL

WEll, boy did I have a busy weekend!! On friday, I left about 9:30 and the only prblem was the guy when I crossed the border wasn't nice-but he was HOT!! I got in about 3:15 and we went on a tour of Barrie, went to a couple garden shops and went for dinner. Then went to Betty's unleaded my car and Betty opened her Bday pressies-she LOVED them!! Then on Sat, up bright and early, base coated some things, and then went for a tour around the Georgian Bay-so pretty-went to this warehouse place where I got some neat garden things for hardly any money-I think my most expensive thing was $7 canadian $$-all togehter I spent about $22 american $$!! There was a metal butterfly that both Betty and I loved, but neither of us got-about 3' X 2' or so-only $20 american $$!!! WE then went to HD to get some wood and went home. After we ate some pizza-which I had to to get to be able to pay for as Betty didn't want me paying for things like food, I also asked about something her DGS loves called Poutine-it is fresh cut fries, that after they come out of the fryer have mozzarella cheese and brown gravy on-sounded weird, so when I asked about it, they gave me a free sample that was more like an reg order size-HUGE!!! And it was pretty good!!

Then on Sunday we made 4 sleighs, 2 sets of wooden candles, a pressie, and some wooden butters. I will take a pic. Oh-we also did some chalkbord plaques and Betty showed me some painting techniques. WE were POOPED!! On Monday we mainly finished up some touch ups on a few projects, then did my 1st sewing project which is a pressie, so you won't see it til the person gets it and posts pics. Betty showed me some simple shortcuts that save a bunch of time and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. It wasn't perfect, but I think for my 1st project it turned out good:) 1 thing I learned was to have a plan of what you want to do and have some prep work already done for it-that is how you get things accomplished at a fast rate:)

On tues am, I was up about 7:30 and left about 9am-got home about 3:15, ate lunch and relaxed for a while while chatting with DH-he is so sweet-he made me a cake:) I did get stopped and searched at the border-guy was nice and all, but asked me all kinds of ??, like Betty's name, her address, how I met her, which things I made/which I bought, searched all my bags-he didn't search my duffle thank god as someone going through my dirty socks and underwear would not have been nice...asked me if the car was mine, how many times I had been across the border, I was surprised he didn't ask me my shoe size and date of my last cycle!!LOL

THis is what I bought

Here is the fabric I got-the black is for my dahlia quilt and the greens are for my rag quilt, and the brown is for my dining room chairs:)

Stacey i love your mushrooms and the things in front of it.Pretty fabric too.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

THe glass things are mushrooms too-thought they would look nice with my gazing ball!! I just wrote schedules and to do lists for myself for the next week:) Have to get things done ya know:)

Thanks for the fabric-the black was a little pricey-about $12 american a meter, but SO pretty and I LOVE the spider mums, so I had to have it!! Got a little extra in case mom wants some too:)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I am trying to make a collage photo of my projects-darn puter is taking forever with it!!

Coushatta, LA

The black fabric is pretty though. It's would look good as a summer dress.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Tink, we got searched when we went for my brother's funeral last September. We had a hard time explaining coming back into the states that I had close family in Canada. Duh!!! They live there--get over it! Nope didn't say that but sure did think it.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I guess I was just surprised-do I look like a terrorist?? And he asked me if I was alone and I REALLY wanted to say well, no in fact there are 3 other people in the car-don't you see them!! OyVay!!

Here are the things I made-can you see the sled I tried to do the northern lights on??

Stacey,I love your new buys they are so cute,i love summer stuff. And you are very gifted ,you did a beautiful job,and yes can see the northern lights.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, Stacey, love the sleds, and the mushrooms, and all the pressies you got, and made. Looks like you had a great time! Did you ever sleep? LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Finally got connected to civilization!

Welcome back Stacey! About time you give Miss Betty a rest!!!! Hmm.. so she did taught you to plan and prep!! So your trip has certainly been an educational one besides a smart buying spree.

Got all sorts of email from home too Cody.. wondering why I don't answer the phone when they call me at 3 in the morning! They thought I was hospitalized again :(

Cookie, I see a nice gazebo overlooking the pond.... that will be a nice place just to daydream...

Cindy, hope you can make it to BJ's. You could use the motorhome.

Sistah LK, I feel your anguish. Taking care of a man is not that easy. Most of us have been through this caretaking experience. And unfortunately, you have to make the decision.
You're a selfless daughter, and if you decide that a full nursing facility is the best for him, none will think the less of you. We are all here for you.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Hey kthere Linda Kay. I'm lazy today. Great trip to Betty's, Stacey. No being lazy there, huh.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Deborah, did you see I got my EYE-Talian frog back???? Robin sends me one!!!! ^_^

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Huh? LOL Is it like the one you sent me?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes!! Go check the spring swap.. God knows our hearts!!!
