I love the last daffodil you posted, BeaHive, and congrats on the pretty crocus, Tammy. Kim, your croci are kind of late for us! LOL

Here are some Ranunculus - I got these as bonus bulbs

Those are very nice, Steve. Had some once, but they moved away and never returned. Maybe I'll try them again. Where did you get the bonus bulbs from?

Angie

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks Angie - yes I thought they were all white so it was nice to see a yellow one opening up. I got them as a freebie from Easy to Grow Bulbs.

Kannapolis, NC

TY, Steve. I'll put them on my list of suppliers. Better yet, I'll visit their web site and add them to my favs.

Angie, you've asked on another thread about your tuber anomenes? Mine are 'September Charm' and they're up and running now (about 4-6" tall), I'm potting them up for next round up.
Steve, those croci were planted with my Tulips last year....so they are a little later in blooming compared to those that I planted in years past. :-)

My daffs. are on their last legs though. Lots and lots of them have been faded since the weather is heating up in the 70'ish.

Lily: You're a little farther south than me, so I'll wait and see. I do hope they come up and bloom, especially after seeing Bea's lovely blue one above. I'll be terribly disappointed if they don't. Is there a right or wrong way to plant them? Maybe I planted them wrong.

Angie

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Oooops, Angie. The blues ones are different, as I recall they're like a black corms/bulbs and not a tubers like the windflowers. Those corms Anomenes survived a couple years in my climate, then this year they didn't.

Kannapolis, NC

I think I've confused the issue. Bea's blue one was on the old thread, but it was so striking. I'm going to revisit the thread, because I could have sworn she identified it as A. coronaria, but I may be having a senior moment. The ones I planted were little shriveled things, not corms, definitely, but they were A. coronaria.

Angie... This is my Blue anemone de caens. Is this what you were looking for? Anemone blanda is the small daisy looking one to the lower right.

That de Caens is what I want! I know where I can get them, too.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Angie..you will love them. Just poke a whole in the soil, drop them in
and cover. Nature will do the rest. I even have them bloom in the summer. Great addition when things are winding down. Enjoy!

This is a photo I entered in the DG photo contest last year.

Wow! That blue is so stunning. I love blue flowers. That will be such a beautiful addition to my garden. I do have Anemone `Honorine Jobert' coming from Bluestone this spring. Can't wait.

I agree on the blue Anemone - is that "Mr. Fokker"? Wow beaHive you must have a much better camera than I have to be able to get those close shots like that - what terrific pictures! Would love to see them en masse in your garden.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

I would love to see them in mass in my garden also. This is their second year so I hope they are multiplying and will get better each year.

This is the largest patch I have so far. If the sun ever shines again I will try to get a shot of these all opened.

Those are very pretty, BeaHive - thanks for posting!

Springfield, IL(Zone 5b)

That blue is very stunning!

I am surprised at the hardiness of my crocus..less than a week after having been mowed down by bunnies, they are returning to bloom their little heads off..

Prins Claus..

And this would be a pretty showing, if one can get past the critter-proofing kitty litter and mothballs..

All our southern neighbors are giving me zone envy, as this is what most of my tulips look like:)

So imagine my surprise when I saw this bud on what has to be Rjinveld's Early sensation daff:

Congrats, artemiss! Isn't it wonderful when the ground first "cracks" and you know there is lots of good activity going on down below?

Steve, Sparky looks spoiled. he's so cute, he deserves to be spoiled. My leucojum didn't do great this year. I wonder why. I thought they were supposed to be naturalizing fools.

Steve, I'm trying to get seedpicker_TX to become a bulb nut. Can you help me?

LilyLove, my pooches also love to bury themself in the mondo grass. I, too, use it as border and I, too, have to yank it when it gets too thick. I have been successful posting on freecycle and having people do the yanking for me.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

freecycle webpage? Please dmail me the site. I need 'help' thinning out those expensive mondo grass for free. lol. Thanks Vossner.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

These are the leaves of the tulip named corsage. They are cool. Look like a DNA chart. Hopefully the bloom will come up soon.!

Now that's a type of Tulips I must have. lol. That's so cool looking!

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

lily, here is the main page. You enter your town and I think you have to register before you read posts and post yourself. Great resource.

once I had 4 medium sized sago palms. I posted "free for the digging" and that very day a nice man took all of them. Some people may respond to the ads and turn around and sell, but I don't care about that. I just wanted it gone and let somebody else to do the work. I didn't require the person to fill up my holes but the nice man offered to do that. I said no, the holes were not very big at all and I had plans to put something else in there.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Hi Nery, I will sure try! Heheheh

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I just looked up tulipa 'corsage' a very nice color. I will be on a hunt for those for next fall. Thanks

Brent and Becky have posted their fall catalog. Guess what I am doing? Discount for early buying. Patti https://store.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/spring/genus.php

patti, I was looking at B&B narcissus yesterday and it seemed that ave. $1/bulb was still high. Isn't the disc. about 10%, that still makes them 90 cents ea. Isn't that high, and certainly higher than Colorblends? Pls comment on that.

having said that, I still may get a couple hundred of Golden Rain, a dbl yellow for the south.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Here is Sparky's counterpart - Lola - she is so funny and lively. Squinting here.

Wooden Shoe tulips in Woodburn OR is a great place for tulip purchasing or visiting during the tulip festival. I plan on going soon. The season is a bit behind schedule due our cold weather. All tulips are available at their web site also.

Bulbs are great...nice and fresh.

Vossner, I buy a few (ha) new ones each year at full price from Brent and Becky. Van Engelan/Scheeper, Buggy crazy, Eflower, OHG, and any coops and then I hope to find some of the pricier ones on sale at Thanksgiving. I am always looking for new ones for me and of course they most always are some of the more expensive ones. However, I want to support these vendors, so that they don't get run out of business by the box stores. That way I have a choice each year for unusual, healthy big bulbs beside just the landscape bulbs. But I try to draw the line on price. None of the 5 -12 dollars each ones for me. I have bought a few 3.50 ones. Painful. However, I am eyeing a 7.00 one...Narcissus 'Double Itzim'.. Breaking my rules.

I don't show them, I am just interested in how they look with the other bulbs and plants. I just love to wander about the garden and smile when I find a new one opening up. I haven't ordered from Color blends. Not sure why. But I do compare prices on them when I see more than one vendor selling something. Brent hybridizes many of his which I generally like, so I add those too. http://daffseek.org/query/query-action.php?opt=M1&pagenum1=1

Doggie shows are as fun as bulb shows. Nellie and Winnie (white one) same litter border collie sisters born in the summer of 2003. That is "their couch" in our Vt house, the others were taken on Nantucket.

Back to the blooms. The crocus is 'Cream Beauty' from a coop 125 @ ,10 each and the dwarf Iris histrioides 'Katherine Hodgkin' which I got more of last year from Van Engelen sale for 5.25 for 15. I love the dwarf iris because they bloom so early, but I like dogs more even when they flattened some today of the Iris Katherine H's.. grrrrrrrrr. Patti

cute pooches. I've always wanted to get a small couch to put in the garage for the doggies. DH has vetoed that, sigh.

Back to daffs, I'm gathering you don't think $1/bulb is too much. Also, when I went to daffseek and entered Gold Rain it said fall blooming-what???

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Your dogs are very cute, Nery ^_^

BeaHive, how is Wooden Shoe to order from? I have been to their website but have never tried them.

Wonderful collage, Patti. Your dogs were so kind to stay on the path and not trample your beautiful garden!

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

didn't Neal host a coop w/ wooden shoe for lilies? They were great.
