Van Engelan/Scheeper, Buggy crazy, Eflower, OHG, and any coops and then I hope to find some of the pricier ones on sale at Thanksgiving. I am always looking for new ones for me and of course they most always are some of the more expensive ones. However, I want to support these vendors, so that they don't get run out of business by the box stores. That way I have a choice each year for unusual, healthy big bulbs beside just the landscape bulbs. But I try to draw the line on price. None of the 5 -12 dollars each ones for me. I have bought a few 3.50 ones. Painful. However, I am eyeing a 7.00 one...Narcissus 'Double Itzim'.. Breaking my rules. I don't show them, I am just interested in how they look with the other bulbs and plants. I just love to wander about the garden and smile when I find a new one opening up. I haven't ordered from Color blends. Not sure why. But I do compare prices on them when I see more than one vendor selling something. Brent hybridizes many of his which I generally like, so I add those too. http://daffseek.org/query/query-action.php?opt=M1&pagenum1=1 Doggie shows are as fun as bulb shows. Nellie and Winnie (white one) same litter border collie sisters born in the summer of 2003. That is "their couch" in our Vt house, the others were taken on Nantucket. Back to the blooms. The crocus is 'Cream Beauty' from a coop 125 @ ,10 each and the dwarf Iris histrioides 'Katherine Hodgkin' which I got more of last year from Van Engelen sale for 5.25 for 15. I love the dwarf iris because they bloom so early, but I like dogs more even when they flattened some today of the Iris Katherine H's.. grrrrrrrrr. Patti |
