Debra, congratulations on the bloom. So, Bonnie IS moving.. I did not know it had turned into a reality. I had a vanilla white canna for her.. I finally potted it instead of letting it dry out. Figured I could always dig it up and mail it whenever she was ready for it. I am soooo sorry she had to do that. She had such a nice place for all her plants. I wonder if she is able to take them with her. That would be so traumatic to leave any behind.
I don't think the stems of the tomato plant know weather they are upside down or ritght side up really.... stems are stems.
Shes about to....#44
Debra...Pardon the butting in here, but where did your Great Aunt Effie live??
I didn't know AuntB was moving either, it is so stressful for me moving and then she has all those wonderful plants...............Hope we hear from her soon and all is well with her and plants.
She is moving to KC? Oh I hope close to me.......I live outside of KC and work in KC.
So Debra on the 30th how many plants do I bring? I don't know yet if I can come but it sure sounds fun! May need to work, I will know more on Tuesday when I get back.
Hi Dusty, My Aunt Effie lived most of her younger life in Oklahoma and worked in the hospital there with the nuns as a dietician, and when she retired she came to Kansas and moved into a new mobile home in my Grandmas' back yard ( back then there was room, and even at 88 she was still gardening and mowed on her new riding lawn mower with her sun shirt and shorts and her big sunhat.. she lived to be 96 with me and my sister taking care of her and her gardens.
Originally, my grandma and her came from alaska where my mother was born and raised until my Grandma divorced, and moved to kansas.. I have no clue why they ended up here, but here I am.
Last I talked to Bonnie, she said she was looking for work near KC, and that she dreaded moving, but she would if she had to. I know she was involved in helping with a garden project there in eskridge, and was looking at going into a landscaping business with someone, but I havn't heard from her for a very long time. when she came down here to go to oklahoma to meet up with merpeg, she was really pretty clueless as to wherre she was going and when. I have called her on the only phone number she gave me and emailed her and sent her a card, I am sure she is just really busy if not getting ready to move.. but still, I have no clue atm. I know she would never go without her plants.. that is a fact! She had a large area and alot of wonderful plants. I miss her terribly.
Thanks Debra...I also had a great Aunt Effie...It is just such an uncommon name, I had to know...Mine was married to my maternal Grandfathers Brother...They had no children, but she had alot of neices and nephews, and I was very curious to see if you might be a cousin of mine....LOL
would be cool if it that were the case ... she wasmarried briefly, she divorced him the first time he came home drunk, they never had children, I never knew his name either.. dear old lady said to me and that's the end of that!
Debra, hope your plant trades went well.
Thread is really quiet.
I have been so busy. Earlier in the week forgot that Friday was my SS birthday, so we had a birthday party to attend Saturday. Sunday my neice and Sister came out and went fishing, then next Sunday is my G-neices birthday so we are having another birthday party to attend.
Been working every chance on the gardens. Hope I get done by the snow fly....LOL
Glad perennials can be planted in the fall cause it may take that much time.
Got all the brugs out of garden room, but it has been sooo warm and windy, that it is constant water. Had some buds coming on but transplanted the brug into a bigger pot, so I don't know if I will lose them or not.
Hope everyone is doing good.
I am here to say farewell to the month of MAY. I have had a real month from hell and if I live to see next May, at my age I will be praying for a better month. I feel I am still blessed since the only thing the Month of May did for me was cost me money. No life lost, no limbs broken, no plants died. So, Here I am to say I hope your month was better than mine and looking forward for a wonderful fun filled June. LOL.
Have a good evening. Hugs. JB
