Morning,

Long day yesterday. Left at 8:45 in the morning, got home at 9:00 p.m . Had good visit with my brother. More later taking mom shopping.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Jaye... at least rabbits stop to smell the roses sometimes... and I do more then my share of that...
I think I just have a bad case of Spring Fever. I'll get over it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

As in your case, BJ, I think you stop to smell the dirt!!
Okay, Deborah.. you've been hiding long enough!! Pictures please.
Have fun Cindy!!!!

Be back in a few hours. Thai food first, then shopping!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

BJ, just in case you don't know! DON'T plant sweet and hot peppers close together! DON'T plant cukes, squash, etc. close to melons of any kind! They'll mix, and the melons wont be good, and the sweet peppers will be hot!
I'll take some oriental lities, if you have enough! BTW, do they come up late, later than hyathants? (SP) (Mind wont work this morning!)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Only if it smells good... like dirt should smell... but I have places in my yard that are nothing but clay... and it stinks.

Back to work now... SYL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Audrey... mine are coming up now... but they won't bloom until it gets much warmer. When these get a bit bigger that I put in pots yesterday... I'll send you some.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

No sign of mine yet! I'm still planning on going to your house in May, unless surgery gets in the way!

OH HAPPY DAY! OH HAPPY DAAAY! WHEN JESUS WASHED, OH YES HE WASHED, WHEN JESUS WASHED
MY CARES AWAY!

YAHOOOOEE!! JUST GOT TO TELL EVERYONE.

have been hiding a secret. fall 2007, I received over 1,000 irises. We prepped beds until Randall hurt his back and could do no more. I planted until I dropped every day. Kept very careful notes on where each iris was planted.

In the midst of all this, my ILs came for a visit Sept 16th, and I started a new job Sept 24th. for the next three months I worked long hours and concentrated on learning the new client. every night every morning, checking on my babies in the iris beds.

It would have slowed the planting process so much I wouldn't have gotten them planted in time if I'd made markers as I went. As I gained proficiency at tasks and computerized tasks, I literally created two to four hours a day of free time. Around Jan. 1st I started cataloguing all the new plants into my beds "seating chart" from all my notes. I started on my lap top at home, but decided later to use my thumbdrive and do it at work. At night I said I'd transfer the info to my laptop. Which I did for like 3 days.

Yep. You know it. I finished the task, threw out my notes, and promptly lost my thumbdrive. discovered I hadn't transferred anything for the last two weeks of working on it. last day of work I scourred the office and security room looking for it.

we continued cleaning this morning of the livingroom. finally moved the heavy box of 24" high markers, since I wasn't going to ever be able to use them, out from under the table by my chair, and guess what was under it? MY THUMBDRIVE!!

y'all have no idea how sorrowful my heart has been, all that work, and an iris without ID is nearly worthless. that's why it took so long for me to send irises to folks last fall.

Praise The LORD!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bon, so glad you found all that info! Now make sure you transferr it to your hard drive, and even make a back up on a cd or something.
Audrey, I hope you can get your knee fixed soon, so it can be on the mend!

Hi, LK....Have to go get some brown clays this afternoon then I will start on it.....I think I have put it off as long as I can.....I have a dozen places I want to put it for photo's so you will probably get tired of it before long.....

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Back from shopping. Showed my mom the geeky bird, now she wants me to make 8 of them for her bowling banquet. So we went to Michael's and got some clay.

I hunted all over this blooming town of ours found 2 things that said Spring, didn't like either one so I guess I will have to make something.

Gonna be busy rest of afternoon so TTYL ^_^

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, Bonnie... what a relief... I know you're heart is lighter now that you have all your ducks in a row.

I know mine is.

I got all the DL dug up... broke up the clumps... raked out the bed so it wasn't so lumpy (had planned on tilling it, but was running out of steam)... replanted the fans, one at a time... and scattered over the entire bed. Whew... then Mike, Kristi and I hauled shredded pine and oak leaf litter to the bed and piled it thick. I dare a weed to grow there now.
Best news is... I've planted and replanted that bed every since we moved here. It was the first bed I prepared here, and have used it to just bed down various plants until I had a permanent place to put them... NO MORE... I don't want to bring home another plant I don't have a permanent home for, ever again... *right*... sigh.

Then... the kids wanted to go out on the jet skis... I kept telling them it's still too cold for that... but they wouldn't believe me... Mike had never been on one... so, he was really anxious. So, I took each of them out for about 10 minutes each to show them how cold 50* water is when you get splashed. I 'bout froze my bunns off.

So, they charged up the electric scooter, and are riding the roads now. Sure hope one of them has their cell phone on them in case they get lost.
Was so cute a while ago... they were running through the sprinklers like a couple of preschoolers... chasing each other... I laughed so hard.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Bj, thanks for the stories. Oh to be young again!!! Sounds like they are haveing a great day.
Now it is time for you to take time out for yourself!

I'm doing that tomorrow, LK... a day off... and I'm meeting Phyllis in Tyler for an outing tomorrow afternoon.

I've got a few pics of around the yard... things I've been up to.
Here's one of the things I did yesterday... my first little veggie patch.
I also had to rebuild that drain... the last build I did on it had definite design flaws.

And here's one of the projects for today... each of those DL fans will multiply till that whole bed will be full in a couple years.
Behind the DL bed I have 3 Haight Asbury Hibiscus, a red shrimp plant, and lantana on the end of the house.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I did this bed last week... transplanted all the daisies to go between the azaleas.
you can barely see the daisies... but they're there.

This Wisteria was only a stick last year, about a foot tall... can you believe it? I'm so happy that it blessed me with blooms this year.

My Mexican Daisy and Spirea is blooming right now.

said I'd be MIA, but I'm back in my chair, exhausted.

That's a gorgeous camellia. let us know if you share cuttings. I'd give it a try.

cleaned all morning. Party started at 1, good group of kids, so we went on errands. took a load to the dump. picked up some special batteries at Batteries Plus. tottled on over to Auto Zone for new wiper blades for the truck - I couldn't see out the drivers side in the rain last week. came home then left to fetch pizza.

DD Bevin dropped by with the b'day cake. had unearthed a fancy set of Wilton decorator tips in cleaning. Thought they were hers, she says no. Just barely got out, "so would you like" she jumped up and down, said she was hoping I'd ask and grabbed them. made sure she'd lend them back to me if needed. wish she'd trade me a grandchild for tips. She says she's not passing on her genetics to some poor kid. the baby photo on here is making me go teary. so envious! what a little darlin' honeychild. Wish someone would call me Nana. we like her boyfriend now. ah well.

sinuses are freaking out. But The Clean House is getting awed remarks from all the kids. they are all into anime, they rented BOLT to watch! at 17, who would have thunk.

Raleigh, NC

LOL BJ, I told you, if you come for the pool, you'd best bring a blue swimsuit to match YOU. it's an almost totally shaded pool, water warms up about end of July! we have this little dangly thingie in the water. if it says below 50, if someone falls in, I don't go lifesaving 'em!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Amen Bonnie! Whew! That was certainly a relief for you. Hurry up and do a back-up on a cd-rom!! My nieces and nephew, under the age of 17 are into Animes.. in comic books form.
Go on Bevin, take your time to be a mama! See the world, start an empire.. adopt a baby for your mama!! Let her change the diapers :D

I have heard of the same too Audrey, back in Louisiana. So, it's not an old wife's tale, then.

BJ and Cody, my ex is trying to root some camellias. His cousin runs a nursery and his advice is the same as my favorite nursery person here... root them in mid summer and do a hothouse with soda bottles.

Hanging my head in shame.. I haven't done anything at all to my garden, not even remove the mulch. The fear of a late freeze got me in limbo! Didn't even attempt to germinate anything, except for a few brugs that I promised another sistah. Oh well, Kel's getting some wheat bales Tuesday for my veges. That's a start right?
2009, I had promised myself NOT to splurge on co-ops like I had last year. Did good so far... nope, as much as I'd like to get one of those Cajun hibiscus...

Great job BJ! You've certainly followed those plans you have in your head for your garden. You'll be beaming over those blooms and veges!!! Wonder if there are any cukes in those tiny trays?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

No thanks, Bonnie... this old Nana don't do COLD water. Didn't take me long to put that jet ski back on it's lift today.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

No cukes, Jaye... we don't eat them ... I can't stand the "burp" that comes after them.
Thanks... once everything grows up... I think it will look nice... someday, I'll be done... right?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lol!!! BJ, I won't answer that, so you won't be disappointed ;)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... thanks... Don figures if we ever get done, we'll have to move. He lives for the next project.

Raleigh, NC

the hilarious thing, Jaye, is that DS Danny was told he'd made a girl pregnant back when we'd just moved into the "McMansion". he came asking me questions about "when?" he knew when she was due and when they'd had sex, once. I counted the weeks and told him, "possible, but highly unlikely." He asked me what should he do. I asked him if she'd seen where he lived. He says yes. I said to be supportive, congenial, kind, and a good friend. Insist she take care of both of them with prenatal doctor visits. if and when he was asked for money, he should ask for a paterity test and not to be ugly about it, just tell 'em his mom wanted to see one. The baby was born and around 3 months old they came over. The mom wanted me to hold the child. I claimed to have a bad sinus infection and declined. I took my son aside and said "honey, your hair is almost black and wavy, her hair is straight as a board and chocolate brown. that child has kinky blond hair and looks nothing at all like you. what color is her former boyfriends hair?" he looked at me, said "he is curly blond." a few weeks later, he was asked for child support. he told them what he was advised to say, and her parents kicked him out the door. here is photo of "McMansion" I found on my thumbdrive

so I sort of had a chance to be Nana. doubt it would have lasted long when they found out we had gone broke. (the lions came with us, the house is long gone in financial problems)
