Lynn, your red strep appears to be Texas Hot Chili! Hey! Can I have a leaf?lol!
March Blooms VI
What are the names of all the plants? Those are very pretty!
Jim, Syrumani bought Orchid Lace on ebay and now she is sweet enough to tell me just to send something else.............thanks for the offer of a leaf, but I am safe now.
Kivit, you have to give us names^_^
Gail, I don't have Michael but may be getting one soon from a dear friend. You know I have to grow that one in my collection. Your photo reminds me of Marna.
Pretty array of flowers, kivit!
From Left to Right:
Very dark blueis Night Edition (thank you Jim). The pink next to it is Sweet Dreams, & the pale blue below Sweet Dreams is Crystal Beauty.
In front of Crystal beauty is Wintermint. Directly above Wintermint is a very dark Midnight Satin. Jim says that's not what it is but when I took a picture of it yesterday, it came out bright red. So now I am wondering if my camera is getting "funky' Tha's what it really looks like a maroon so dark it is almost black.
The big purple bunch of flowers is NW Purple Lightning. I really am enjoying that one.
On taop of that is another maroon with a yeloow throat & black rays=Spiritual Corridor.
BELOW the Purple Lightning is Emily. Right of Emily is Frankens Dainty Lady.
The wonderful lilac & mauve cluster above Lady is Happy Times. There's another Midnight Satin tucked in there before you come to the farthest righthand Inky Fingers.
Kivit, that pink and blue mix looks exactly like Weismoore...........they always come in either blues or pinks or a combination of the two?????????
kivit, your streps are beautiful.
bonnie
Lovely Streps. and Sinns.! Kivit, you are welcome to a leaf as soon as it gets a few more. It's still a baby.
Gail, I bought the lilac & mauve one as Happy Times. That is one I have managed to keep labeled because I love the bloom. I call it my floozie. It is a spectacularly large flower and free flowering at that. I remember looking it up on strep-info and finding several Happy Times-none of which look like my plant. Certainly possible that someone sold me a mislabled plant, but they are still selling the identical one using the Happy Times name, so it is not a one time thing.
You are absolutely right.........I had forgotten about Happy Times looking that way...........thanks.........
Getting ready to turn the computer off..........tornado is 10 miles away with 70 mph wind , hail and thunderstorms............say a little prayer that we don't get that wind........or my whole front porch is gone.....................
done!!
The worst is over except we are still under a tornado warning.......they say it is going to hit Gregory only 6 miles away now.
I was out on the front porch frantically moving plants away from the windows.....when I realized my life wasn't worth losing over plants. The sound and lights were incredibly loud and bright.........
I didn't think to get a camera until it was almost over.........
Oh Gail, take care! We are having storms up here already too and Jannich mentioned storms in Alabama. It could be a long summer.
Gail, glad to hear you are safe. Tornados are terrible. You really don't have a warning where they'll strike. We have hurricaines, but at least we have a week or more warning.
Actually that is the first tornado warning since I have lived here for 3 years. We don't get many of those but we have certainly had our fair share of hurricanes as i grew up here.
I can remember a hurricane (not the name) when I was in college and living in the sorority house. The house was 3 stories high and we had an oak tree in the middle of the back yard. The storm actually hit the southern coast where I am now but Austin got it hard too.......3 hours north. The tree broke like a twig and fell on the middle of the fraternity house next door. Fortunately no one was killed.
We only got 1/4 of an inch, rats. It was nice rain, just 20 minutes... We sure needed more.
I remember about 7 years ago, several tornados in the area. The college was hit and one man was killed. Thankfully it is SO rare.
Gail! Thank God you are safe!
Thanks, Kivit. It was scary. I think Corpus missed a lot of the wind and storm, Sally , from what I could tell on the news. We got over an inch in about the same amount of time.........20 minutes but it was a wicked 20 minutes for sure.
By the way, Sally, it is a small world. The man that was killed at Del Mar during that tornado you are talking about is a man I knew well. If I weren't so old I could remember his name.
Oh, Gail. Very sad. That was a shock for sure. Wasn't he a teacher there? The brick wall came in and he had helped people get to safety I believe.
Yes, and I am going to ask my brother tomorrow what his name was. Hate losing my memory!
Well, the more you try to remember the harder it is... for me anyway. I usually remember later when I am not trying.
Yesterday, I had the blues. Today is a red letter day!
From Left to Right.
The hot pink is Chigusa. The pale pink above it is Heaven Scent. The red with white stippling is Bristol's Red Typhoon. Then there is one rathered faded Georgette. Just below that are two more blossoms of Typhoon. The hot pink smack dab in the center is Dibley's Ruby. Just below Ruby is a cluster of Bristol's Petticoats ( Thank you Jim ) going to the very top is Burgundy. Beneath Burgundy is Ambiente'. The center pale pink is Sweet Dreams.Below & rightward of Dreams is a single head-hanging -down Poochie. Just right of that is Bristol's Doo Wop. The farthest right are two Blooms of Franken Strawberry Fondont, while the upper right quadrant is filled by two plants of Salmon Sunset.
Ususally sunset is a much paler coral but these are growing very close to the lights.
Ooops~!
I forgot one. Just on the right of the ruby cluster is a single bloom of Audrey. (Thanks again Jim) Looks very much like Bristol's Popsicle.
Nice photos!!! Beautiful Streps!! Glad the storms missed you Gail!! It is that time of year tho--we need the rain but could do with out the theatrics!! Can someone please start a new thread?- my satellite is taking forever to download the pics-- and I'm sure its hard on dial-up folks too.
What a beautiful picture Kivit!
