Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

we need the rain - we're down 3" so far this spring -

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

The scroll bar is on mine but whited out & non-functional.
They turn blue & work only if I type more lines than what fits in the window.
If I keep hitting 'enter' to go to a new line, they scroll bar activates when I get to line 12.

Marcha how do you trim the hydrangea? Have a new bush planted last year.
It's about 30 in. high and has new buds? on branches...

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

geraldine87, Don't trim it until you know which kind it is or you could loose all the flowers. One type blooms on old wood and can only be pruned right after it flowers (lace caps and oak leaf) which is what grow . Patti

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

This site looks good. If you don't know what type you have go to the bottom of the page and follow his directions to id yours before you prune. I didn't know this for a few years and couldn't understand why mine bloomed so well one year and than none the next and so on. This was before I joined Daves. Patti

Thanks Patti, checked out the site and will check with my plant!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

44 now going up to 55... rain & thunderstorms all day

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Here's another site for hydrangeas - http://www.hydrangeasplus.com/pages.php?pageid=5 - this page is regarding pruning. I've ordered from them and have been thrilled with what they ship.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm actually enjoying a rainy day. It was beautiful yesterday. I got alot of yard work done.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Pouring all morning. No work outside today. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good morning, all. Drizzly and 49. Got rain overnight.

Plum raining. Here is a pic of the yellow finch's. I think we were talking about how they change color in the spring. This could be proof. Looks like the one right in front of the yellow one is just starting to change.

nice Sherrie

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Sherrie, Great example of color change. We have seen no bright ones yet. Dulls-ville here. Pouring still here and slightly foggy. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - cool shot. Hard to hide when you're that one.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

More foggy now, but the rain has abated. Patti

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Currently 52 and the fogg is starting to lift. Supposed to get to high 60's today.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

More fog I am down to being able to barely see beyond our property. Patti

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Rainy all morning, sun came out about 2pm and it got downright steamy.
56 now it's cloudy again

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yep, Jen, steamy is the word. It's 64 now. I went to the grocery store and when I came out it was HOT!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I was out pulling some weeds, said "nuts with this, shouldn't be working on Sunday anyway" and went back inside.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

It got up to 73. I found a TICK on me. ICK!!

There are bad storms west of here, in Lancaster area and north, with tornado warnings. The clouds are starting to billow up here.

Thomaston, CT

Hate ticks! Rained on & off all day today, but it was pleasant walking in the mist---no one else was about--temp was at 47. Worked outside all day yesterday---too sore to work today.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Raining pretty hard again. Fog has cleared. It is 50 now and the high today was 52. Peepers are blasting. The crows found the suet block. Patti

Did anyone turn out their lights for an hour last night? It was kind of cool sitting in the candle light. We had the computer on as well as the tv, so we had that electronic glow going on as well. We have no neighbors this time of year so no changes in the outside light for us. Patti

Getting a nice soaking t-storm right now.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Now hailing.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I don't want hail.. that would flatten my bulbs. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - hoping nothing was damaged. Did not last long.

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

An icky day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll second that, though we did need the rain.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Crazy hail storm, thunder and lightning....it was a weird storm. Lightning was coming from all different directions.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

44 now going up to 53... more rain today

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

My rain gauge showed just over 1" of rain. Sunny now, although they are calling for more rain later. My weather center is not in agreement. 47°

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

42, cloudy and very windy. I'll start a new thread in a bit.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)
