Weird Weather of '09!! ....... #8

I'm sure that she will LOVE the new bed then. I would think that she's going to think that it's more comfortable. Then again, it could just be me as I don't sleep too well on futons.

ok.... pic #2

I personally like #2....can't even really say why....

She had the top bunk bed, it was one of those strange set ups, bunk on top, double bed/futon sofa on bottom.......don't know what ever happened to the futon.....oh yeah, my son is hard on furniture, and it wasn't a high end piece to begin with.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Can I vote? I like the first one. The pinkish sky is interesting, and the tree trunk is offset a little so it doesn't look like it's growing out of the HB..but that's just me...I'm no pro.. :)

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I like two, too, but they really do have different qualities.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I've seen those. They are definitely convenient when you need the space!

You're doing better than me. I've been looking at those two pics for a while thinking... i like best: #1, no #2, no neither, ok #2, no #1, get rid of both, ok no 1, etc, etc., and on and on and on..... :-p

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Thanks Katie.

Of course you can vote Susy! Anybody here, or where ever, can input!

And, I think that we're all pros!

What a beautiful day today! It didn't rain, and I spent the entire day in the garden. Don't even ask how badly I hurt. I got the new shrub border planted. That's putting the cart before the horse, but it's still too early to pour cement, and I wanted them in the ground. So I'll do the walls and gate later, that's all! Then I got part of a new alpine area put in, and the part of the berm I'm changing dug out, a few wheelbarrows of soil dumped into the space, and continued cleaning out the pond for spring. I probably won't be able to move tomorrow, but it was worth it!
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I was wearing only 1 pair of gloves, and NO wool sweater for most of the afternoon! Woo HOo!

Wow!! You were busy today! Nice job. We're gardeners and in PNWest you have to take advantage of non-precipitating days! Even if that means putting the cart before the horse if the horse hasn't arrived yet!!!

Wow, Pixy, you were working like a demon. Do we get pictures of the new improved berm and shrub border?

RC, just to make it tougher, my DH says he likes the first pic, too, but that they're really close.... ;)

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

That's good! I like all the opinions, even if it's a dead tie in the end!

And I'll take as many opinions as possible, even if it's one that is "neither."

I have another fun project with a picture. How many bugs are in this picture?

Thumbnail by redchic01

I vote for #2 with the sparkle of sunshine.
Bugs? You mean insects? I see no bugs, but I see at least 2 spiders, maybe 3. My eyes aren't good enough to tell if the third thing is a spider or not. Cool lighting.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

to me, at any gven time, they're all bugs. :-p. But yes, insects! I'm not going to give it up for a little while, but I will post a slightly larger picture if you want?

Eugene, OR

Feel like I'm at the optometrist. "Which is better, #1 or (click) #2?" I like #2 because of the cloud formation behind the flower..
Now if you could take it over with the pink sky, the offset branch, and the cloud formation........LOL

Pix....sounds like you need a good soak in a jacuzzi. Good job! I moved a pile of pellets day before yesterday and I worked most of it out in the pool when I went for water exercises yesterday. I was surprised, it really helped.

Trisha....what a great gift for Sage! I always wanted a girl bed. And at a garage sale too!

Eugene, OR

Bigger please.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

lol.. funny Sally! however, I can make the sky the same color in that second picture! If that would be the best picture! but, since I don't do photo shop, I can't move the clouds and branch. Sorry.

larger photo in a minute. My computer is super sloooooow.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

ok..... a little larger pic.

That's better, I think there's 4.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Sort of fun to look at huh? Ok, at least I think it is. :-s lol

Eugene, OR

So much activity on one little flower, which is pretty btw.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Thanks! I at least had a break in the rain for about 45 min. where I was at in town today, so I ran around and snapped these pics, plus a few others then. Doesn't sounds as if you had the same luck . That's too bad.

Eugene, OR

Good and bad. We had to go to the nursing home today and help our friend, so I couldn't have worked in the yard anyway. Got his shopping, banking, computer clean up and bill paying done, so he's set for a while. It was funny, it rained like heck while we were driving, then let up when we stopped. At least we didn't get soaked. LOL

We need the water, so I won't complain too much. Just wish it would do it and get it over with, instead of dragging it out for days on end. But then, that's OR.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

That's true... definitely Oregon and the Pacific Northwest!!

I know that you hear this all the time... but, that's such a great thing that you do for your friend. He's so lucky to have found someone like you!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

a Rhody. The absolute earliest blooming rhodies, had their flowers zapped by the last round of snow, but this one hadn't quite opened yet so it was ok.

He always thanks me, even if it's just for listening to him on the phone. He's such a sweet guy, I hate to see him so lonely and depressed. He's bent over so bad that he looks at the floor and he tends to ramble and talks really slow, most people don't take the time to listen. He worked as an engineer, is very well educated, has a brillant mind at times and has some of the most wonderful stories. Luckily there is one young man who thinks he's just fascinating and he works the night shift, so he has time to talk with him. He also worked with the Salvation Army for 40 years. No one should have to spend their last days (or years for some) without someone to care.

Eugene, OR

I don't think I've ever seen that one, it's gorgeous. Just what everyone needs......color!!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

a close-up.

Btw... the Rhody is 'Airy Fairy'. I have one at home, but it's hasn't even opened a bud yet! although, it is getting close.

Looks airy. Are you in Saginaw this week?

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I absolutely love the Very Early blooming rhody's for color this time of year. But, the down side is that some years they do lose every last flower do to a late freeze. 'Lee's Scarlet' is one of my favorite of the earliest and it was open a few weeks ago. It lost every last flower in the snow. :-(

Lee's Scarlet is in the background of this picture. But, since I took this in Eugene, which didn't get as much of the snow, that plant did ok. Although, you can tell that about 1/3 of the blooms froze on it when you're close enough.

No, I'm at home for a week. lol. Back there again on Fri. I think, maybe Sat?. ( I have the date written some where). My 9yr. old nephew is here visiting until Thurs. night., he has been here since wed. night.

Eugene, OR

I think one of my neighbors has one like that, I know it's always the first. There's a purple/fushia color that I remember as being early too. Time to take a walk around the park.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Little flowers on the purple/fuschia one?

Eugene, OR

A 9 yr old? What fun, I like that age. They don't think they know everything yet. Too busy being boys. Spoken as a mother of 3.^_^

Eugene, OR

Think so, I always thought it was an azelia, but was told later it was actually a rhody.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I aree with that statement completely!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

It's probably PJM. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&um=1&q=rhododendron+PJM Usually pink, but sometimes Lavender. And some folks think that they have PJM, when it's really a mislabled plant. :-p

Olive opens earlier, it's blooming now. It's lavender, but much less known. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&um=1&q=rhododendron+olive

Eugene, OR

PJM for sure. Really showy plants too! Looks like the plant that has April 5 in the title.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

that makes perfect sense to me! They definitely are showy. I really like them.

Eugene, OR

These are showy and the first, so they get noticed more than the others. This place turns into a really pretty garden in the spring. Everyone tries to keep their places pretty. Some simple, some more elaborate, but all pretty. I should let you know sometime when things really start blooming, we could take a walk around, since I know almost everyone they wouldn't mind if you took pictures.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

hahaha..... I would love that. Definitely sounds like a good plan to me. when I sit down on the ground to take a picture, you can just turn the other way and make a circle around your temple with one hand while pointing at me with the other, to let anyone that sees you know that you are well aware that i'm crazy! lol

Good, I'll let you know when we're in full bloom! We have a few odd people in here, so no one would even notice. lol
Didn't explain, I program the gate, do the gate list, the phone list, the birthday list and the calendar.....that's why I know so many people. And of course they all know me.
