Weird Weather of '09!! ....... #8
Hooray I found it!!
Tills you are getting so good with that camera!! Gorgeous pictures. Keeping fingers crossed you get a new car.
No sun here today either except for a minute or two every once in a while. Finally came out around 4:30 actually got up to 50 deg after being in the low 40's all day. Still too wet to do much though and that wind is just frigid.
The frogs are singing tonight, so it's staying a little warmer.
It's still freezing out there; I don't care what the thermometer says.
we didn't need a new thread for that Laura. It's cute! and we all know exactly what it's about! But, if the new thread makes you feel better, then a new thread is what's best!
rc.....sis posted a pretty picture of the shawl on her new thread. It's only a few pictures down.

Sally that is incredible!!!! Must have taken a lot of time and patience!
I just didn't mean it, forgot to put a picture and decided to just scrap that one.
Trisha...yes it took a while, especially when I started it and then decided to change needle sizes and had to take it out and start over!!! I thought the girls I knit with were going to cry, I had one of them hold it so I could unravel it. The pattern was charted, so it wasn't too bad.
Sally, that's excellent! very pretty. I can't believe that you started over. I almost positive that I would've cried over that. Especially since knitting anything would be an amazing feat for me! How long did it take you to make that?
Thank you, I was happy with it, when finished. It took probably 3 mos., because I could only work on it at night last summer. Could have gotten it finished quicker if I'd done it in winter. LOL I wanted to make it. but would never have an occasion to use it myself, sis does garden parties and such, so I figured it would be perfect for her. The yarn was lovely to work with and the pattern was designed by "Two Old Bags" , how could I resist!
lol... Two old bags, that's a great name. wow, 3 months, my attention could not have held for that long. You did great!
I loved the name they use and they write the instructions like two old bags. LOL I do some type of needlework almost everyday, finished a tatted dragon today^_^ and if I'm working on a long project, I do a few short ones in between so I don't get too tired of it. I knit winter caps for First Step most any time, they make a quick project so I can finish something.
Easy, quick, different projects, or whatever, you have my admiration! my sister took up crocheting when she had kids. She knew it wouldn't always be a hobby, but she just wanted to make a baby blanket for each kid when she had them. Well, her oldest child has one that is tiny, the others don't have any! She said she just could not take focusing on one project for sooooooo long! I'm sure you're considerably faster! But clearly, you have the talent of focus! However, I was relieved when she said that she had the same issue that I did, so I know that we just don't have the genes for it. The only thing that I've ever had the patience for is buttons!! lol
I'm way past the kids blankets, making them for the great grandkids now!! And the grandkids needed adult sized ones, have a granddaughter who is a sweater nut......see where this is going? LOL
Buttons?
Oh yes, I can definitely tell where it's going. At least you know that everyone appreciates it! Especially the sweater nut!
I should have clarified. I can sew buttons, thats the only thing of that nature that I can do. I don't know how or wont: knit, crochet, sew, darn, etc, etc, etc.... I do know how and will take the time to sew buttons back on if one has fallen off or come loose!
If you can find the right button!! Should have figured that, I'm tired, think it's time for bed. I was thinking maybe camera buttons. You have a gift for that.
Have a good day tomorrow.
I love to do all kinds of things, including needle work, I just can't seem to find the time to do it.
Thanks for the 2 new threads Laura! LOL!

Sally that is a beautiful work of art! And a very thoughtful gift to your sister. I did knitting a long time ago but switched to crochet because the arthritis in my fingers started bothering me. Packed it all away when I moved and haven't started again - maybe next winter.
Rain rain rain. Yesterday we had rain with short periods of sun and everyone was walking their dogs in the same 10 minutes that the rain halted. Tomorrow is supposed to be dry and I will plant a few things, including Precious the black hellebore. She has been sitting on my back porch to remain acclimated to the cold and is ready to take her place among the other hellebores who seem to like their spot in the garden. Listen to me.....six months ago I had never put a trowel in dirt and now I'm giving plants names. I've gone over the edge. LOL
LOL, Judi. 'over the edge'. Join the club
I'm almost finished a cross-stitch for the youngest granddaughter, but put it down to start reading. I should pick it back up and finish it before my hands get too dirty from digging.
We're up to 46. and partly sunny today. I have 'help' this afternoon. Henry (4)and Luke(almost 3) are here. So, after they rest, we'll go outside.
Mary, Your picture above gives me hope that spring is coming!
Tilly, mine are still buds and the Daffadils, Tulips, Irises, etc. haven't even put out flower stems. *sigh* I'll be glad when they flower.
I really hope we don't get post St. Patrick's Day snow again this year. Happy St. Patrick's Day btw.
Laura, I liked the 'weird weird' sort of fit.
We've had raining snow and sunshine again. Still have snow on the flower beds.
Sorry most of you still have snow, ours has gone away, replaced by rain. And I am starting to see things popping up, still lost a lot though.
Judi....thank you and I think we're all 'over the edge' so now you're a full fledged member!! Are you talking to your plants?
Today I started talking to a red twigged dogwood. I was cutting it way back on advice from my garden expert neighbor. It felt so strange to be cutting so much and it was kind of scary to me so I apologized to the dogwood.
You will both be thankful. You for the color and the dogwood because it will behave itself and you won't want to chop it down.
I love Red Twig Dogwood......I would like to get one this year.....need some winter color around here!
Judi, you're funny. I have several Red Twig Dogwood and love them. Yes they do need to be trained quite often and they grow back so fast!

My neighbor said that if you just stick a twig of the rt dogwood in the ground it will root so all of you who want this plant, go find one and get a twig. Apparently that is how the areas along the roadways are planted. I was going to use the cut branches to make a trellis for growing peas but my neighbor said I would have to dig it up in the fall because it would have established roots by then. I stuck a few twigs in rooting hormone and then in pots to see what will happen. We all want free plants!
Hooray Judi!!!!
Free plants are good! Love the look of red-twigs. Don't have any, but some day.
That's true about the rooting. Willows will do that also. And most shrubs will do the same and the best time to take cutting is in the fall.
Judi - your dogwood cuttings are still viable. Maybe some of the people who don't have them would want some in exchange for postage? Laura, Jan?
Sitting up, begging. :)
I have a friend who would transport from Portland to Olympia....Free!!
Jan, ROFLMBO!!!!!
