Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #93
A funny..SAFE
Two Swedes from Minnesota, Sven & Ole, walk into a pet shop near
Brainerd. They head to the bird section and Sven says to
Ole, "Dat's dem."
The owner comes over and asks if he can help them.
"Yah sure, ve'll take four of dem dere
little budgies in dat cage up dere," says Sven.
The owner puts the budgies in a paper bag. Ole and
Sven pay for the birds, leave the shop, get into Sven's
pick-up and drive to the top of some big cliffs
near Brainerd Lake .
At the cliffs, Sven looks down at the 1000 foot drop
and says, "Dis looks like a grand place."
He takes two birds out of the bag, puts them on his
shoulders and jumps off the cliff. Ole watches as Sven
falls all the way to the bottom, killing himself dead.
Looking down at the remains of his best pal, Ole
shakes his head and says: "By yumpin' yiminy, dis
budgie yumping is too dangerous for me."
VAIT!!! Dere's MORE!
Moments later Knute arrives up at the cliffs.
He's been to the pet shop, too, and walks up to
the edge of the cliff carrying another paper bag in one hand
and a shotgun in the other.
"Hey, Ole. Vatch dis." Knute says. He takes
a parrot from the bag and throws himself over the edge of
the cliff.
Ole watches as half way down, Knute takes the gun and
shoots the parrot.
Knute continues to plummet down and down until he
hits the bottom and breaks every bone in his body.
Ole shakes his head and says, "And I'm never
trying dat parrotshooting either."
BUT VAIT!!! Dere's MORE , you betcha!!
Ole is just getting over the shock of losing two
friends when Lars appears.
He's also been to the pet shop and is carrying a
paper bag, out of which he pulls a chicken.
Lars grasps the chicken by the legs, holds it over
his head, hurls himself off the cliff and disappears down
and down until he hits a rock and breaks his spine.
Once more Ole shakes his head. "First der was
Sven with his budgie yumping, den Knute parrotshooting ..
and now Lars, hengliding ......"
Dats all. Dere ain't no more!
You always give me my morning 'chuckle' Tubby...
Do you live in town or in the country? Corn patch makes me think it's in the country...no rain here although the weather is heavy...now don't you overdo..seems like you are trying to prep gardens in a few days..you've all of spring remember...
was in bed early yesterday, couldn't believe how tired I was..up very early this morning, even worked out in the yard..omg I'm so itching to remove the dead leaves from the gardens but no/no/no...
Stacey is coming when she sees the gardens at their worse..2 more sleep Stacey...lol
Called the boys last night to tell them of the plans to date but all are away on March break..
Tubby, that was truly funny! I can always use a smile like that was.
Betty 3 acres 3/4 mile from Ames..Very small town..7 miles from Fremont where I grew up
I sure Stacey be more interested in seeing you than how the garden looks..We all have the same problem & can't wait to get out and get our hands dirty. And our bodies stiff..LOL
Good Morning!
Oh my gosh, you speak the truth Tubby.
I see only couple more days for your visit!!
Must be getting excited.
LOL, Betty...Steve insists on "helping" me cook. The man drived me bonkers, then when I say i know he gets all mad..So hands on the hips here, I say well if you me to cook, then let me or we can wait till you get home! Good heavens you would think I am first time ever stepping into the kitchen...Hello, I am sure I know the Milk is in the refridgerator!! Heavy laughing sigh here.
...So now, if he is going to be home, like weekends i hand over the mixing spoon, gladly too.
Although I have to admit i rather enjoy cooking. i've even started watching cooking show. Called Zonya, wow is fun!
Sounds like your trip with the boys is be planned quite nicely.
Shar and Trish, Finally got caught up withe the next story, I am thouroghly enjoying it...Nice spin.
LOL, I still haven't finished Emma, but almost to the tale end, I love on going stories like these.
Liz, How are ya feeling? Also , hows the new car running...in the right direction, I hope...lolol.
Waving Hello Wonderhug, hope you are getting stonger so to come an chat a bit.
Well, today gotta clean my kitchen and then We are going to dinner tonight with some clients!
So i said well how does the lady appear, he says she dresses kind of froofy!! What does froofy look like??? Ruffles? LOL I am thinking nice slacks and sweater for me. But i don't want to be overwhelmed with froofy.
be back in a bit.
Judy, is it the clients from the last apartment that you helped decorate that are taking you out? Just dress appropriately to the restaurant you are going to and not the individual...
men aren't great at describing another woman are they..sometimes for good reason, wouldn't want to go on and on to the wife about another..lol
Is it your March break, are the children enjoying their time off...
Liz, my girlfriend from Ireland called me last night to wish me 'Happy St. Patricks' Day' was telling me of her plans Sunday for Mothers Day..didn't realize diferent countries have different dates i.e. Mother's Day!
You best find a job Judy LOL, that's desperate you cooking and watching cooking shows..just joking..it's wonderful that you are being domestic and am sure that Steve just loves coming home to home cooked meals...
Tubby, sounds wonderful - 3 acres is just manageable..wish I had as much..we had at the farm over 80 acres, on the lake around 2 acres..now I have a double lot however there is land behind me and it's tree'd .. on the side of me there is a little mini-mall - 3 units and it's a tree'd lot .. the front of me to left is about 2 acres with nothing on it so come spring when the leaves are on the trees I feel as though I'm in the middle of nowhere...
Hi all! Just popping by with a note for Betty - I was at work reading a government newsletter Betty and I saw an article that I thought you might be interested in. It's about the new travel requirements between CA and the US starting June 1 - I know you go back and forth a lot and maybe you already have the required passport/documents or know about them but I thought I'd drop you a note anyhow.
Here's the link to the Canada website announcing the new Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative change: http://www.getyouhome.gov/
Terri
Thanks Terri you are a sweetie...,
much appreciated..I've been procrastinating for sure..kept putting it off because they were talking about the new smart card which would enable me to cross rather than passport...
I'm ok going to Washington D.C. in April and if arrangement end up coming through, Texas as well..so best I go to the link and read up..
Great information Terri, Thank you
Betty, I'm feeling better, but I'm going to have to do something about my knee! I had decided to do the lazer thing, but I was told it didn't do any good, so I might just do a total replacement. I dread it! If I can stand it till after we go to BJ's, I'll wait till then, but I don't know if I can.
Yes, that was Lisa who came to see me. She's better, her oxygen is back up. They found nodules in her throat and her thyroid is swollen. One dr. told her the pneumonia was a "smoker's pneumonia"! She thought he knew she bought a pack last week and smoked a few! I explained that it went back to all the years she had smoked, even though she didn't smoke many a day. They might let her go home today!
OMG Audrey, why would she smoke when it so affects her health? Know it's easier said than done but isn't she frightened..
Getting a knee replacement can't be much more pain than you are experiencing now can it? at least with it, you'd be sure your knee would improve...
Darlene's husband Mike who is only 54 had both done, one last year and one in the new year..he can't believe the difference, sorry they hadn't done it earlier but because of being so young, they wouldn't...
Have you finished the quillow...lol I keep ansking and you don't respond, that usually means it's sitting there and you are hopeful to soon finish it, but don't want to be reminded
Bev and Vicky, bet you are out in the garden working..
I picked up roast beef dinner, eating here why? lol because I spent my
time at the Garden Gallery..omg it's so pretty with all the plants and flowers out and for sale..so tempted...
going to wait for Stacey Friday afternoon and go there..need a couple of 'swap' items, might just find them...
Betty no gardening for me yet. I am a good 8 hours north of Bev. If not her Jude for sure! But I did start some more seeds today. I have to rush to get ready for work. Got called in a bit early! Bye!
Audrey, I had a total knee replacement 2 years ago. My knee is better than what it was before, so I would suggest you get it done. Don't wait any longer, and have it get worse! Is it your left or your right knee? Just wondering for your driving?
hi all
much better now and over the illeness.. goodness ~
ur all so busy getting ready for spring whereas we are getting ready for winter...
old man winter is on his way for sure but i dont mind being that we have had bad fired this year.
*waving*
Temps are cooling, best close the main front door, left open today to let sunshine in for the animals...
I joined the 'where you live' swap..omg did I get treated...
LindaKay, was telling Audrey the same, not worth putting up with the pain, which is to 'no end'...be brave, call and have it scheduled..
Laura (Wonderhug) glad you are feeling a bit better...so funny, the hug coat got there in summer time did it not? now I'm sending a sexy # which should be there next week and it's heading on winter...we'd best get your seasons right....
I should clean my craft room for Stacey's visit, make it nice and pretty, then I'm thinking almost the minute she arrives it will be cyclone city with paints/brushes/tools out cutting wood etc. so what do you think girls, leave it and let her see a functioning craft room...lol
OMG that froggie is just too cute Betty! I think you should just leave the craft room as is and save all your energy for making crafts once Stacey arrives :o) sure wish I lived closed, I too would take a road trip to visit lol! sure could use a vacation from my vacation right now lolol!
ROSES & HANGING BASKETS
A teenage granddaughter
comes downstairs for her date
with this see-through blouse on and no bra.
Her grandmother just pitched a fit,
telling her not to dare go out like that!
The teenager tells her
'Loosen up Grams.
These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!'
and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs,
and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on.
The teenager wants to die
She explains to her grandmother
that she has friends coming over
and that it is just not appropriate...
The grandmother says,
'Loosen up,
Sweetie.
If you can show off your rose buds,
then I can display my hanging baskets.
Happy Gardening.
lolol! great one! thanks for the chuckle :oD
Love that Frog!!!!!!!!
ROFL.....Laura, that was a good one!!!!
You are overdoing Bev....thank goodness for rain..did you not place an order or two for hostas? wish you were closer Bev, we'd go to Garden Gallery and pick you up a few..
Laura (Wonderhug) you must be feeling a tad better, you've got me laughing..you and Teddy would make quite the pair..
AnnMarie, 17 million is the draw tonight..only reason I'd love to win is of course to treat family/friends..but if I won, by Sat. I'd have a nice RV with all the trimmings (nothing too big) just something to travel around Canada and USA..I'd be visiting each and everyone of you...omg what fun we'd have..dreams, we all have to have those right....
Trisha I've already got ivy in it...lol...needs a bit of color so when I'm out over the weekend I'll purchase a plant for it...
Debbie, our paperwhites are doing well, how are yours, will you have flowers shortly? Do hope you are feeling better...
Don't want to be baking while Stacey is here, just made 2 Ruby Applesauce cakes, I'll cut one in 1/2 for work tomorrow, the other 1/2 for Cathy who comes and lets the dog out, more than that, emptied my dishwasher as well..so I'll wrap 1/2 up for her and her mom..the other, we'll have with our tea/coffee..
Stacey, best you tell me what you enjoy having for breakfast..I'll go shopping just before my painting class tomorrow night..don't want to waste any of our time together doing such things..better things for us to do!
OH! YES! Betty, I have ordered Hostas,Daylilies, Oriental, and Asiatic lilies, even some Viburnums. I am downsizeing Betty. YEAH!!!! LOL Would be so much fun shopping with you. My blue Scillias and Purple Crocus are blooming right now.

close enough to be emotionally effected and far enough away not to be materially effected. an aweful time for sure.
Betty-I eat snack things usually for breakfast-nothing much really-I LOVE lunch though-my fave meal!!LOL Usually I have some muffins or something like that-I just don't like blueberry-I usuallly get lemon or chocolate...
Do you have a coffee maker??
Hey Laura - Funny joke! LOL.
On a sadder note - I admire how you say that "close enough"....that is how I would have described Hurricane Katrina.
Now on a happier note...DS is on his first dinner date. Norwegian Friend of Norwegian Foreign Exchange Girlfried wanted to try Sushi before she goes back to Norway (which is this weekend).
So he has taken both girls out for Sushi....one of his fav meals.
Sorry - just popping in....headed to watch American Idol.....be back for the Night Shift... :)
Hugs,
Mary
Mmmmmm Chocolate chip muffins.are the best..Our traveling breakfast.LOL
Bet you can't eat just one..The commercial should say...LOL
Teddy
Will try to get on later, Laura is borrowing my air card, so it just depends on whether or not I can "borrow" WiFi access from my neighbor.....
If I disappear for the night, or in mid sentence at least you will know where I went!
Wow -
Hello To All -
I get emotional when I watch American Idol....so I'm emotional right now as it is...
BUT - Did I tell you DS's band got all "1"s in Performance but a "2" in Sightreading at Festival yesterday?
It was up in the air whether we would go to State and ALL the parents wanting to know....
The Band Director just sent me an email to Forward to all. We're Going to State! (and I get to forward the email - I feel so special)
Home alone tonight...DH working late all week...DS on Date with 2 Norwegian Girls :)....DD1 at friends studying....DD2 at church.....
I know I vent about the kids sometimes...but please feel free to remind me when I do how much I will miss them when they're gone. This quiet house is SO WEIRD and Unusual!
Hugs,
Mary
Off to compose the Band Booster Email... Happy Happy Happy :)
Congrats on going to State!!!!
Kids, yep they drive you crazy but you really do miss them when they leave.....
Congrats, Mary....way to go!!
I'm back! Just sent the email....I really feel special for getting to share that information....
Thank you for sharing in my Happiness!
What is going on in your worlds Sharran & Trisha! ....I missed you last night!
DD2 home from church now...I'm expecting DS & DD1 to walk in at any moment. DS is bringing the "Norwegian friend" by to say goodbye. She leaves tomorrow for Norway...was just visiting the exchange student.
I really want to ask her..... "Best / Worst/ What you learned" from being in the U.S.A......So maybe I'll get a chance to...
Hugs,
Mary
Not a lot going on here, Mary, just working in the gardens and when inside, working on my couch and chair. They are almost finished, just in time for serious gardening, I hope. Tomorrow I plant some Dutch iris bulbs, so that will be fun.
Yes - as of tomorrow - 1 day till Spring! Yay! There is a Garden show at LSU this weekend....
Still here -
Just took the dog out and it is still in the upper forties....warm for what we have been getting!!
I have some really pretty amarylis blooms....I'll try to get a pic tomorrow.......
Still 62 here but will drop a little or stay the same for tomorrow. Still beautiful weather. I have worked and worked in my gardens and loved every minute. I was so so tired of winter. I am sure there will be more cold to come, but still, it's lovely.
After 11, Mary......your kids still out?? You must stay up for them, just like I did. And that's a good thing.
Well - They are all finally back....
DS - Took 2 Norwegian GIrls out to dinner....Came back with leftovers....Visiting girl liked the Sushi, GIrlfriend did not....
DD1 - came back with frustration - Biology test tomorrow
DD2 came back....from church.....
Crazy week...more in a bit.....
Hugs,
Mary
