:* How is Norma
A sweet grandmother telephoned St. Joseph 's Hospital. She timidly asked,
'Is it possible to speak to someone who20can tell me how a patient is
doing?'
The operator said, 'I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and room
number?' The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said, 'Norma Findlay
Room 302.' The operator replied, 'Let me place you on hold while I check
with her nurse.
After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said, 'Oh, I
have good news. Her nurse just told me that Norma is doing very well. Her
blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back as normal, and Her
physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged on Tuesday.'
The grandmother said, 'Thank you. That's wonderful! I was so worried! God
bless you for the good news.' The operator replied, 'You're more than
welcome. Is Norma your daughter?' The grandmother said, 'No, I'm Norma
Findlay in 302. No one tells me diddly

I'll tell you all what, either I'm losing it or someone is trying my patience...wrote a nice long post again, went to look and it's gone..
Hmmm..let's try again...
Thanks LindaKay, it's a beautiful day for a ride..high temps until Thursday then cooling off..slight chance of a few flurries on Sat.Sun....say it isn't so!
Will do in smaller segments again until I can figure out what's happening...
What a cute little 'fairy' Shar..didn't know you did polymer clay (?) you are such a multi talented artist...
Tubby, very interesting about the peroxide ..I usually have better luck just scattering the seeds...
OMG I so wanted to rake yesterday..you could see a lot of greenery coming through the blanket of leaves..there were a few lavender plants that when I took a piece smelled like 'heaven'..but I was smart, I know we're still bound to get a few more snow storms...will let them be doormant until after Easter..
But I was tempted by 'spring' yes I was..there were two plastic adirondak chairs near the front deck, took them onto the deck, washed them off, got the water feature out, filled and running..even sat for 1/2 hr. enjoying ..
Early this morning, I'm the early bird while you are the nighthawks, I sat and labelled and put the seeds Crissy sent me into my gardening journal..took a walk around the garden while Sailor enjoyed her outing, there I found a few stray hollyhocks full of rosets filled with seeds... I picked them and sat and took the seeds from the pods..do you think I'll get anything from them as they've spend the winter outdoors..could this be 'winter sowing' lol
tubby - over 30 bales of hay..wow..this is your 1st year doing it? hope you have much success...
That's just tooo funny..love it...
Shar must get back to reading the 2nd novel..and Stacey you've joined in, how exciting is that...well the days Stacey are less in numbers aren't they..anxious for your visit..
Mary I've a few hibiscus, the winter types, last year was the first year they were planted so not sure how they'll have survived..isn't Rose of Sharon a type of hibiscus..it does well in my gardens...I always would love a garden just with peonies and glads in memory of grandma, hers were to die for, but no luck with peonies..in the fall I purchased several bags of glad bulbs so will try my luck with them, let's hope I don't forget to plant them...
Portrait painting class tonight..long day..Suzanne tells me we're going shopping this afternoon, something about 'spring wardrobe' ...
Betty, yes, I do polymer clay, but the little fairy was Trisha's, not mine. I haven't worked in it for a while, but I am tempted to start again. Trisha is luring me in that direction.
For me, hollyhocks reseed, which mean the seeds stay outside throughout the winter weather. I am not sure for your zone, but it might be true for you, and those seeds could well be viable. The same is true for some types of morning glories and other vining plants, too.
Cute funnies, Tubby. Thanks for the smile. I especially liked Norma.
You all have a good day.
Hello everyone, just skimmed real quick through the posts. LOL Terry I need a 4-wheeler, I would be riding up a hill and one of the big farm trucks would be riding up the other side of the hill and wouldn't see me as we crested the hill and I would get taken out. Everyone has 4 wheelers. They are so expensive!!
Hi everyone. Just checking in. Had a busy week/weekend. We have 4 dogs right now (3 8 mo olds and one 2 yr old). That's 16 paws and wouldn't know, it's RAINING cats & dogs!! Had to hose them off TWICE yesterday. Now they get taken outside one at a time! Hopefully only have this for a week or I will need to get a good divorce lawyer!
Will chat later,
Jeannine
Jeannine, somehow I might agree with DH, does he need an ally in Divorce Cout..lol You are just loving it aren't you..I've that box ready to mail to you and keep thinking perhaps I'll put it in my trunk as not to forget it and somehow either mail or catch up with you when I'm in Washington..
I don't know how many times Jeannine I swept and also washed the upstairs floors this past weekend ..with animals in and out and melting of snow which creates MUD..terrible..I hate seeing paw prints all over the floors..
Drats Shar, I am losing it, thought it was your 'fairy' that's what I get for reading too quickly early morning...
Trisha, love the 'fairy' how talented you all are..
Crissy when I lived on the farm we had trails made for dirt bikes and 4 wheelers..I loved to 4 wheel until some of the children started driving them..frightened me half to death..
Sad thing in our Muskoka's (lakes nearby) A young woman and her 12 year old daughter were going to a lodge after having a ride through the trails/lakes, hubby and about 5 more 4 wheelers all family members were behind her..not far from shore going to restaurant they watched her go down, her last words were 'oh no!' another niece which was 12 was on the back and a dog as well..one 12 year old jumped off, the dog was able to swim to shore, the hubby, BIL's all watched as this lady and her daughter who had helmets and had seat belts on drowned before their eyes..cannot for the life of me think why anyone would wear some type of belt on them..they must have felt more secure...
Doesn't help me feeling very positive about Greg and the lakes, 2 more snowmobilers drowned over the weekend, one also on trail..melting of snow turned to ice..lady not wearing a helmet hit a tree..
Early winter and last of the season brings the most fatalities..conditions are very poor..must call and put the guilt trip on that boy of mine..
Then here just outside of Barrie they ice-fish..yesterday for hours trucks on the ice were trying to find a way OFF the ice..was cold and frozen in the morning and by late aft. the shoreline had melted..
There was a young man and his son, guess the son was about 8 showing the fish they had caught..the man said 'yep, it's worth coming out when you catch a fish this size'...right, worth taking a risk for his and son's life...
I'm riled up..best I call Greg NOW!!!
Thanks Betty, that was one of my first Sprites....still need some practice, for something so simple looking the faces are very difficult to get right.....of course they are very small and I do so much better with much larger projects....one of the reasons I would love to get back into my "Mud Clay" work someday.
I dislike ATV;s and Skidoo's for those very reason.....a friend of my cousins was riding, came around a corner, hit a rock, over the bars head first and die instantly.....and we have had so many bad accidents reported with small children as passengers....I know how much fun they can be and, as with bicycles, that most riders are safe and cautious.....but I have come to hate the things.
Must run for awhile, Laura has an 11 O'clock to have her knee looked at....it is cold, raining with a bit of snow mixed in, going to sit in the nice warm car with my computer and
read the most recent installment of The Story......maybe run by Jo Ann's and see if they have anything amusing today.
Talk to everyone later.
Trisha I snowmobiled with Roger and boys, all 4 of us had machines..fantastic .. it's like everything else, comes with dangers, lordy our ski hills had 3 die recently..there are rules/regulations you must keep aware of..when the law came in that a 12 year old or those without drivers licence needed a licence I was one of the first enlisted to teach with the Ontario Federation of Snowmobilers...my kids and grandchildren have all gone through the program...
The danger other than just plain stupid driving comes when there is not enough snow on the ground, or pressure cracks/icebreaker coming into port and snowmobilers don't take notice of the warnings..
We make sure we all have floater suits and hand picks..next is to put away the machine due to spring like conditions...I'm sure he wouldn't go anywhere unsafe, it's just me being a 'mom'
Trisha, is there anything you don't try...lol
Mary-1 tbsp peroxide to 1C boiling H20-and then you will see tails forming in about 1-3 days...
Shar-I have already been doping that-when 1 post is there, I think oooo-this is what I would put next, then read the next post and it is totally different!!LOL
Trisha beings Laura's knee is on the outs.
.You'll not have much help raking those leaves up at her new place DARN..LOL
Jeannine do you foster animals ???
We have 4 dogs ..I think we will probably wear out a couple mops..LOL
We got the bales unloaded..Glad Shirley don't work today..
She quit tossing them up after 3rd row..She said I'm to short.
Its not like me to be a smart $%#..LOL
I said ,,When are you going to grow up..
Wont say what she said..LOL
Nice out today 68 degrees headed for 73
Thanks fairy I couldn't find the info, on peroxide

Terry the good news is Laura has mostly Evergreens so there isn't much raking to do......:)
She just came out and if her knee doesn't improve soon they will doing an MRI in the not too distant future....maybe mom should have kept the walker for awhile longer before turning it in.....guess we will see what happens.
I retain all kinds of crapola in my little brain;)
Hi all, I am once again, way behind on threads! ugh! no time to read now, off to a job interview and then a Dr appt.
Been busy visiting with mom, and working on yard. didnt get far on the cobblestones, it was supposed to rain this weekend, so I didnt work on the cement...it never did rain! but at least I got a lil respite before tackling it again lol!
DH did work on the arbor, all thats left is securing it to the ground, and he is going to extend the decorative fence to the other side of the arbor (left) and that area will be a new bed for my hibiscus. I did get the wisteria attached to the arbor...now it has something to grow on! lol! had the wisteria for 6 yrs now, and never had anything to twine around on, so I kept trimming it back. will be really happy once it covers the arbor :o) and all in bloom.
Anjl The arbor and cobble stone looks very nice.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss CA weather..We have a similarity of sorts.
I grew up in Fremont NB.
I live 7 miles west of Fremont now..
Question?? Do you lay cobble stones in place..Then fill in with concrete???
Spending an extra hour playing here in the office...had a late lunch so no sense leaving for portrait class before 6pm..
Darlene just called me..she was out shopping and she remembered that I said I'd purchase a sewing machine - basic in order to do things like rag quilts etc. as not to use my embroidery machine..well, guess she came across a deal of the century she said, dropped into my house to leave me a 'sewing machine' circle just goes round and round..she gave me a lovely birthday gift, I saw a few sewing goodies on sale so bought her a present of them, her birthday is Thurs. so bought her birthday gift..today she buys me a treat-sewing machine...I'll tell you..like Suzanne said, i have to stop saying I like certain things or need certain things otherwise as before they end up in my home...another one of my earthly angels...
AnnMarie, I'm going to purchase that mold..don't like my brick one, wasn't successful with it ..Jeannine has the cobblestone as well and she did marvels..love you garden, really coming along.now how many mold pourings do you get with a bag? love the arbor, can't you just see it all in bloom..so pretty..you are not overdoing are you?
Trisha why would they wait to do the MRI, hasn't it been bothering her for awhile???
Stacey, marking the calendar, 4 more sleep nights before you visit...
Tubby, surely you didn't have that little miss of yours lifting bales of hay???
Betty, she has to wait for a referral for the MRI, then make the appointment etc., etc., typical only in the US Red tape when dealing with State agencies and medical issues:(
one 60 lb bag of cement will do one mold. mold is 2'x2' (approx) so now you know why its taking me so long! lol!
bought all the stuff to do the bib overall planter....hoping to get that done this week, if weather permits. then back at the cobblestones. not overdoing it at all, barely doing anything these days! lolol!
yes, cement is poured in place. you just set the mold on the ground and fill with cement, smooth it all off, then immediately remove the mold and place it in the next spot. I put a thick layer of wet newspapers down first, so will act as a weed block. will wait a few weeks for cement to cure before I fill gaps with soil and transplant the blue star creeper inbetween stones. I cant wait til its done...want to at least complete the area outside master suite this month. May go buy another mold for days when I can get 'helpers' so the work will go faster. I have ALOT more to do lol! problem is, its such dirty work, and then I have to stop workeing and clean up for appts and such. think if I had a whole day to work on it, would get much farther. spend too much time cleaning up! ugh!
Sure is a lot of work..have you figured out the difference in cost from pouring them yourself to purchasing something similar? regardless of the cost AnnMarie, am sure it's being able to say I (we) did this!!! The molds aren't that expensive, think I paid less than $20. for the brick one!
Here I sit all alone waiting for 6pm so I can leave for class..could have gone shopping but just too tired...
Diane called about 3:30 wanting to know if i'd like to meet her for supper..not likely, only got back from have lunch at 3:05...
Won't worry about Sailor having to go out, usually I call Greg to have him let her out on evenings that I'm at Carol's..but, Darlene said she took her out for a walk this aft. when she dropped off the sewing machine..said the kitties were dying to get out but she thought 'not' as evenings are quite cool and I won't get home until nearly 11pm..
Just think, the night owls might be on and I can have a few minutes to chat..
Best get all my things together, it's almost time...
afternoon all,
finally out of bed after 4 days omg! flu and bronchitus what a combo!
chrissy, happy dance got the seeds hope i'll have all my energy back this weekend to get them in the ground thank you...
sorry Liz, not a good combination....hope you are feeling better.....
Betty, another reason to write up long posts in word first; if you crash it tries to recover the document.
Mom, I still have my “cane” (walking stick) if it gets that bad. It can’t be any worse than my ankle was after I sprained it.
Hello Night Owls! Hooo Hoo!
I'm lurking in case you're around. Might move my bedtime up a bit tonight...had troubles getting to work on time this morning...
Anjl - love the cobblestone. The wisteria will be beautiful and ready to "go somewhere" !
Laura - sorry about the knee. As Terry knows...I'm quick to recommend a chiropractor...but usually (I know) you've already explored that option....
It's just my chiropractor really did wonders for me....fixed my ankle probs...fixed my carpal tunnel...fixed DS's tennis elbow....
Thank you all - Terry, Stacey for the 'recipe' for hibiscus. Maybe I can make that my "forte". I see where so many DG folks specialize....I"m probably still too new to find my niche...but it's something to think about that I am interested in. (Now that I didn't kill the 4 I planted last year). Basil is an interest of mine too...
Lots to learn learn learn.....
Betty & Trisha - I'm with you on the four wheelers. We used to have a boat but heard of so many accidents...Eventually I got to where I was a nervous wreck every time we went out. (sold it & bought the pool....so now I can stress about the teens diving in and breaking their necks!).
Hugs to all, back later...
Mary

I actually haven't done a chiropractor. No issues with them, I swear by them for my husband. It's most likely either a torn meniscus or reoccurring tendonitis, neither of which will likely be helped much by a chiropractor. If the doctor doesn't pan out I'll see about a chiropractor.
Mary its one thing or the other to worry about...
I sent my Mom a bottle of Worry Wart pills once..LOL
She worried about hurricanes when I lived in FL.
Earthquakes when in Calif.
Moms are that way..LOL
Now she worries if I work up on something when I'm home alone..Never Ends..LOL
Hey Laura;
Mom was a nurse and the medical community always denounced chiropractic in those days...and me right along with them...for no reason...
But a few years before she passed away she was seeing one regularly and recommending to me. Not just for back, for DS's ADHD....
So I started seeing one right after and have been ever since. I almost feel like a new person.
Tomorrow is "Band Festival". They made straight "1"s last year. Should be harder this year with so many freshmen but I had so much fun watching them last year...I am so looking forward to it. Right after we'll kick off the WHS Band Booster Jambalaya Fundraiser....
Betty - are you 'crashing' because you have dial up? What have you planned for Stacey's visit? (or is it a surprise?).
I ask you all for what exciting things are around you....don't forget....because 10 years from now, DH & I will get the RV and paint the US and Canada on it and Travel. (HA!) Coloring in the states/provinces as we go.
Can't remember if I told you Betty....but I STILL HAVE the Tim Horton Plastic coffee mug from my last trip to Canada. (in 1986 or thereabouts!).
Hugs,
Mary
My MIL just discovered from her Chiropractor that part of her knee problem recently (not the fact that she does need and refuses to have a replacement, but the recent problem) is due to disc misalignment.
yes - Terry - Betty is evident of that! :)
(Hand on Hip Shaking finger!).
It's a "Mom Thing". I remember times on vacation not letting DS get near the railing when we're on high structures...
Completely stopped planning a Grand Canyon vacation when learning about the heights we'd be around...
Mary, around here....the Pacific Ocean, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helen's, Snoqualamie Falls, The end of the Oregon Trail, The Space Needle.....I'm sure we will think of more...
Mary, The medical community is still generally at war with the chiropractic community. DH has been trying to find a doctor that will take chiropractors seriously and vice versa, but with our current coverage it so far hasn't been possible.
oh I am a FIRM believer in Chiropractors! my DS was diagnosed with chronic asthma when he was 3 mos old. Medical Docs put him on steroids, etc but he spent most of the first 5 yrs of his life in and out of hospitals. My chiropractor suggested that I bring him in, and started seeing him for free! (I was a single mom, couldnt afford pmts) so I figured what do I have to loose? well, never had to take anymore time off work since then. DS saw the chiropractor for about 2 yrs and hasnt been back to the hospital since. Funny thing is.... before he ever even saw my son, he told me that right beteen the shoulder blades is a pressure point that helps bronchial area...well, DS has always been ticklish in that exact spot! Dr started adjusting that spot and the asthma pretty much stopped. Now, DGS has same ticklish spot...and asthma...so guess who's seeing the same chiropractor now? lol. He is also adjusting DGS for free, says no reason why the child should suffer, or take steroid cause mom cant afford it. Since I'm in the insurance industry, and usually the first person cients talk to after a car accident....I've sent this Dr MANY referrals over the years lol! guess it all pays off in the long run.
Betty, we figured out that if we purchased those ugly square cement stepping stones, it would cost about twice as much as the cobblestones...plus alot more work because I would have to make sure the surface was completely even in order to have a level walkway... think the cobblestones are much less work, especially since there is ALOT of baserock already in that area.... would cost alot in sand to level it all lol!
OH I forgot to show ya all my newest todo project..
Pics taken in SD..So cool
The man that builds these was plum full of helpful info..He's a retired biology teacher.(don't hold that against him)..LOL
Seriously a very talkative man.Nice & easy to talk with..Had a hard time leaving. But we were having a lunch gathering and I was late..LOL
way cool ...thankfully no room in my garden for one lolol!
Anjl - That is really good info to have b'c one of DS friends on the drumline has asthma....
I need to pass this info along to his parents...who have been very helpful with Band Boosters...
When I checked kids out for Indy.....she was in the office checking DS out for Asthma.....Do you have any more info I could send her?
Trisha - I've heard of most of those places but did not know they were in Washington! See how much I learn on DG!
We'll be ready for tour of U.S./Canada by the time we get ready!
Laura - I think this is the first year our Chiro has been covered by United Healthcare......
Hugs,
Mary

Hello girls and our Tubby, late night here, will respond to your posts in the a.m. just got in it nearing 11pm..wouldn't you know, forgot to get gas, watched the gas needle all the way home..had all the time in the world to get some, just didn't look..one day my not looking will get me into trouble...no gas stations around here open at this time of night..will leave a few minutes early tomorrow and all will be well in my world..
Yawning here..not sure I enjoyed my class, well I did and I didn't..Taye whom I'm sketching as a gift for Paul is a child of color, not so sure I've caught the effect but Carol tells me I'm not finished yet, save my misgivings for after the finished piece is done...
Too tired to open the sewing machine Darlene bought me..hard time finding a place for my Janome Embroidering machine and now I have to find a home for this one...it's small and lightweight! these models are really throw away machines, if they break, into the garbage they go...should save wear and tear on mine..you know, boat tarps/scoot tarps you name it I sew it..this way I can be rough without worrying..
Liz, sorry you aren't feeling the best, lets hope tomorrow will be better for you..
Checked the water feature on front desk, water still flowing..that's a good sign..lol
Sorry, I'm petering out here..need my bed..
Mary, just have your friend check out reputable chiros in your area. My chiro specializes in pressure points and muscles as well as chiropractic. He sees alot of the sports players (raiders and 49ers etc) and does alot of homeopathic stuff... next time I see him I can ask him what she should be looking/asking for. I'll let ya know what he says.
Betty, looks like I cross posted and missed ya..get to bed lol! I'm sure your sketch will turn out wonderfully, you are so talented!
Liz, forgot to ask earlier...are you planing on going to the final SF flower/garden show? I've never been, havent decided if I'll go or not...no money to buy stuff so may be more torture than pleasure lol!
Dancing with the stars is on, so will try to log back on later :o)
Good night Betty, have a good rest.....
Yes, it is Dancing With The Stars Time!
Thanks Anjl - I'll ask my chiro....prob going back in a few weeks....but good info to know it can help asthma...
Helped my DS ADHD and tennis elbow...it's amazing what else it can help!
