Time flies when you're having fun ..... time for a new thread, already. Hard act to follow with the great photos on the last thread. Here is a link to that thread if you wish to re-visit.

I recently ran into a flock of White-winged Crossbills here in Maryland which was a first for me. All of them were high up in a poplar treewhich was a little unusual. They usually hang out in the hemlocks. I had hoped to get some better photos, especially of the white wing, but it was not to be. This is a male.
Daily Pics Vol 192
Very nice pics Linth!
Thanks for starting the new thread!
Hi Seed, Good to have you here! Nice Red-bellied Woodpecker!
Nice pics nanny! How did you break your toe?
GP, Nice pics! There's been an Osprey reported in NJ recently.
Dave, Lovely pic! Can't wait toll we see little ones. What's the situation with the nestbox?
Well, they apparently prefer the Gilbertson. She is building in it this morning despite the fact that the grass is wet. Two days ago I removed the nest cam from the slotted box and installed it in the Gilbertson. Since it has a flat roof, I drilled a 2 1/2 inch hole in the roof and mounted the camera on the top, looking into the hole. Then I got a 3 inch PVC cap, cut it down and attached it over the camera, cauked it as well as I could and everything is working well so far.
My biggest problem is location. The nestbox is just 3 feet outside the dining room window and about 4 feet outside the kitchen window. If I shoot through either window I have to step back and my wife is already making noises about my cameras being in "her" kitchen. Guess I'll have to buy her some more flowers. :-)
Or make her a new kitchen!! LOL.
I ordered a gilbertson with two different hole reducers, one for chickadees, one for nuthatch. Didn't have the bucks for a nest cam though!
Didn't you move your old nestbox before? I thought I remember something about you moving it a few feet at a time. Maybe that was OP birder.
anyway, she's so cute with that mouth full of grass. I wonder if she'll be de-throned this year like years' past.
Seed tosser, you have two different woodpeckers. In the last thread you had a male Downy woodpecker. This last one is a male Red-bellied woodpecker! congrats!
Great shots all!
Must have been a sight to see those White-winged Crossbills linth, I saw a bird I haven't seen before today, I think it was a Siskin. It landed on my Nectarine tree about 2 feet from my eyes as I was checking the thermomenter. We looked at each other, I wondering how I could get my camera up to take it's pic, then it hopped to a nearby branch and we looked at each other again but it flew off when it's mate arrived. They alighted on my flowering cherry tree then flew off as I approached!
Love to see the Bluebirds again, and your lovely Grackles gardenpom, love the expresssions on the chipmunk and grackle nanny!
My 4 lady Pheasants, 2 immature, taking interest in my old Mitsi cat who is in her 19th year, she knows it's spring and warm even though she's blind. They were making a strange noise, sort of a scheeee sound.
Good morning All! Wonderful photos from everyone (as usual.) Linthicum, The White- winged Crossbill is another one that I've never seen. It has the right name for sure. Pretty pics of both of them. A blessed day is wished for all.
Hi everyone...I have been mia lately due to being under the weather. That is such a silly expression but you know what I mean. I have been enjoying all the great pics everyone is sharing and would write a novel commenting on them all but thank you all for posting.
I was happy to see Dave's Bluebirds...his commentaries and photos last year were my main source of info on how to raise Bluebirds and what to expect. His knowledge has been invaluable in my quest to attract and keep these beautiful birds coming to my yard.
Our Bluebirds have their nest completed and I am expecting the first egg to be laid any day now. I am hoping for an uneventful season but with birds you just never know. Anyway...here is a pic of Junior who is being chased away now that the parents have begun their season.
First, let me say that I salute all of you that take these wonderful pictures! I sat outside so long yesterday that my butt went numb, and only got a couple of good pictures! You all must have a lot of patience to get the pictures that you post here.
So, after all of my sitting and fidgeting here is my Red bellied Woodpecker
And, LOL talk about patients,
I sat and watch this Carndianl for about 4 hours and finally got this one decent shot.
It's one of my favorites.
Mrs. Ed Thank you for telling me about my woodpeckers. I think there is one more too, but we have been able to capture it.
I love the little bluebirds and all the others.
You all do take some incredible shot.
Hi Pell, good to be here.
Hi, Seedtosser. That looks like a Nuthatch in your feeder. Be sure to watch him (or her) as he (or she) scurries down the tree head-first or hangs upside down on a suet rack.
:-)
Nanny - I HOOTED at that chipmunk pic. It looks like he's saying, "Wha are you
loogin ad?!" Guess Mom never taught him to not talk with his mouth full! Thanks
for the belly-laugh.
Welcome back D-rose! I am always so amazed by the clarity in your pics and the types of birds you get. just LOVE that jr. blue!
