It's March

Yes Zuzu, the Regal Ruffles was at Peacock. I have my thumb over the price on the name tag so not sure how much he was asking for it.
Wait, just found a second shot, it was $10 for the gal.

pirl, I think I even said that the Zuzu, what a poor name choice for such a pretty thing.

Did a little simple edit on this one.

Great edit on that shot! It's wonderful.

Gorgeous pics!

That white flowered magnolia you wondered what it was is a magnolia stellata. Not sure of the cultivar. it looks slightly doubled, so I'm guessing Royal Star.

Love the hellebores. And that pond shot! And the moss all over is lovely.

And I like the shot of Zuzu too. Very attractive woman, you are.

My birthday trip to Annie's Annuals finally happened on Tuesday. Here was my haul, financed largely by a certain lovely East Coast blonde:

Annie's is a spectacular place -- 2 acres of 4-inch containers. Here's a view of one part of the nursery. Notice that there are trays under the tables too.

The prices are quite low at the nursery: $3.25 for annuals, $4.25 for perennials, and a few items at higher prices. This one, which was prominently on display in several places, is one of the plants that costs $5.25. It's a Sparaxis of some sort. They only had one left, so I let Fallon grab it because it was at the very top of her list.

While I was busy working (or procrastinating), several things in my garden started and finished blooming, so I thought I'd better get the camera out there quickly. This Clematis armandii has almost finished blooming. It's always a beautiful start to the blooming season. It has such an intense fragrance, however, that it's another of the plants I have to dash past when I'm walking in the garden.

At great peril to my nose, I took a closer picture of it for you.

Lots of daffodils blooming now. Most are garden-variety, but I have a few fancy ones (also courtesy of that East Coast blonde).

Here's one of the other fancy varieties:

And I love this double one:

The anemones and ranunculus are starting to bloom also.

And Sparaxis -- much plainer than the one at Annie's.

The first of the PCH irises to bloom each year is this white one with a pale blue wash.

My Magnolia tree is almost finished blooming, but it still looks good in spots from below. I found a good spot here.

A nice Cineraria that didn't get ruined by the rain.

Omphalodes -- beautiful flowers, horrible foliage.

Primulas are still blooming.

Such beautiful flowers, Zuzu.

Your magnolia is such a beautiful deep color and the clematis is a delight. I can't smell it from here. Each photo is lovely and the PCH is terrific.

I subscribe to Annie's emails because I love looking at the plants she offers but I enjoy your photos even more.

Love the magnolia, and the iris. Annies looks like quite the place!

Oh fun haul! i notice a few dianthus it looks like and Graptosedum ‘Bronze’ and her Graptopetalum 'Pinky', one of my favorites in my garden now. I bought one plant a few years ago and now have pieces everywhere.

I just bought your Sparaxis tricolor ‘Orange’ last month, it's so vibrant http://www.anniesannuals.com/plants/plant_display.asp?prodid=2801&account=none, looks like Fallon's is Sparaxis elegans, will have to get one too eventually! http://www.anniesannuals.com/plants/plant_display.asp?prodid=2642&account=none
This is another So. African bulb I want, shows it's now available. http://www.anniesannuals.com/plants/plant_display.asp?prodid=1958&account=none I promised myself I won't go again until I get my current 4" plants either potted up or in the ground.
Well, I loved the smell of your clematis, took a nice whiff of it last Friday! And when those lilacs bloom, I'll have to come up and get a bouquet of them to take home, to save you :-)
I bought a few daffodils last year and now they are starting to bloom again, I am really taken with them! Those fancy ones are real special! I will have to mark them with small sticks perhaps so I don't accidentally dig them up.
Zuzu, do you have any of the self seeding tall Cineraria? Love those!

Love the color echoes with those two, Sue.

Thanks pirl, a happy little accident in this case!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

As long as it works we don't question it!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Definitely a lovely combo.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Yes, Fallon's is Sparaxis elegans, Sue.

I've bought the self-seeding Cineraria at Annie's several times, but it does no self seeding here.

Here are some more March photos that didn't go into the blue flower thread.

My garden's full of azaleas, but they're not photographing well for some reason. This is the only photo that turned out looking good.

A nice Ranunculus:

Don't be misled by the rose foliage. This is my first poppy of the season.

I have three big Lady Banks roses, which are just starting to bloom. This is the first, which covers one of the gazebos. That's why you can see garden seats under it:

This is the second one. It spreads across several arbors and my garage roof:

This is the third. It's held up by four arbors. I took this photo at twilight because it really makes the yellow pop.

Most of the other things in the garden are still napping:

Zuzu's Enchanted Garden.
So beautiful.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks, Sharon. April should be a very good month for things to start happening here in a big way. All of the irises and many of the roses will bloom in April.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Well...can I count my one tulip that is in bud?

I am very anxious to see your April photos. Maybe in a week or so I will have a couple to share.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Sharon is right - your garden really is enchanted. Every flower is perfect - the poppy is glorious.

Lady Banks defies description!
