You don't need to keep a dome over rhizomes, Nichole. Just plant one or cut it into two pieces. Plant it just like a seed.........and watch it come up. Sinningias have tubers, Kohlerias have rhizomes. You can plant them the same way.
March Blooms!
Just to add a little to the mix, rhizomes really do look like worms.Tubers come in a lot of shapes round, squat, tiny little 'bulblets',or very big, like a potato.
Susan...your first strep you were wondering about as far as ID isn't Waterfall. The one I have getting ready to open is white.
WATERFALL---Pristine white flowers. The throat is streaked and blushed w/two-tone purple, that pours out on to the lower lobes. (Lyon)
Wonderful pictures of your plants everyone. What a great way to start the day!
Brenda your sinn.guttata looks great! Mine is just now getting buds.Wow to darth vadar, that's quite a show it's putting on.

Beautiful! I'm ready for a little spring, how about you, mortswife? This rain makes me ache...
Nice pictures. We are having a big dose of spring here right now,50-70 degrees for several days.Too bad it will probably be followed by a blizzard. LOL.That's how crazy the weather is here.
We sometimes get a blizzard in March or once in awhile, even April. The good thing is it melts fast.
Hey........we need a new thread. We are up to 136 post for the dial up people like Jannich, etc......
I don't know how to say where we came from but I can start a March 2 blooms.
You do it, and I'll link it.

They are gorgeous!
Susan,
Your Waterfall looks a lot like 'Franken Vanessa'.Did you ever have that one?
Lynn
It looks a little like 'Selkie' too.
That Optimara Irene is a dream of a plant!!!
Nope, but when I first stared growing I put leaves down when Kim was here and I did know the names of them when we put them down... Then my new cat Fred knocked over the tray/box they were in and then they had no names... That name does not ring a bell... Then again maybe my brain can't hear it...LOLOL
Hugs,
Susan
Ok, I tried. We need Jim or one of the other Strep. experts here. "Fred, the cat,I love it"
Lynn
i thought it was pocahontas but then i saw a picture of waterfall or what someone had listed as waterfall so thats why i thought it was waterfall,i wouldnt mind growing out a leaf or plant and finding out,
JIM

Hugs,
Susan
The link Lin so kindly posted is a photo of Waterfall . It is white with some blue/violet lines in the throat. Mine has opened it's blossom and it is blooming true as described. I'll take a photo later and post it.
Also, the strep site has a good pic of Waterfall.

You all can tell I either don't read the whole thread or forget what I did see and read. Thanks, Lin and Goldleaf.
I have always liked Bristol's Blue Water, Gail.
Could you repost them PlantiMcPlanter on the new March 2 blooms for the dial up people? Not being bossy but I know there are a lot of dial up people on the av forum...............That cornflower blue is my favorite color on an african violet.
For some reason , she is growing slowly (maybe a compact plant?)
I sure will Gail :) Thanks for the heads up...
