Come to think ,the century plant "blooms every onehundered years"
Happy Birthday Redchic01
Thanks Willie, now I know what it is. I should have remembered that it was an Agave that was a century plant. Good grief though, how does anyone really wait for the blooms? I have a hard enough time waiting for my cardiocrinums, and they bloom every 7 years!!! I thought that was rediculus....
Reminds me of the movie Dennis the Menace with Walter Matthau. Anyone see it?
eyebrows
lol... cute.
Thanks Louise and Dyane. Great pictures! Naw.... you're not late! I'm eating part of my birthday cake for dinner at this moment. Actually, it's an ice cream cake and it seemed like a perfect thing to eat for a sore throat :-p
vanilla or chocolate?
Late birthday wishes!
Dave
lol.... Bill, It's both! Top layer is vanilla, "filling" is cushed oreos, and the bottom is chocolate. How's that for sinful?? :-p But, made for a great dinner!!
Thanks Dave..... you're earlier than much of my family!
Sounds like a great dinner to me!
Went to the Dr.'s today - bronchitis! Yikes! It hit me jsut on Tuesday, but felt different than the 3 other times I've been sick this winter, so off I went. I'm glad I did now. Started the antibiotic, but it hurts to cough. I'm trying to stay away from mom as much as I can. I'm amazed she hasn't gotten sick - between me and Jeff she has cetainly been exposed.
Happy birthday, again.
Wow - bronchitis is hitting this forum. Feel better, Jan!
I know, I was feeling like I had it pretty good and then BAM! Thanks, Victor.
Sorry to be late with this but I hope you had a happy birthday!!
Thanks GB!! Nobody here is late.... it just extends the celebration.
Geese Jan..... there's something funny going on here! Before I got on the computer this morning I finally called the doc's to plead.... fit me in....please!! They'll call me back here in a bit to let me know when. It's been mostly a sore throat and minor flu symptoms for about a week, and the low fever went away after the first couple days, so I thought: good this is just a cold, I'll get through it. When I woke up this morning I had that lovely rattling sound coming out of my lungs. I just thought: yep, it fits, I haven't had bronchiutus yet this winter. What was I thinking getting near spring without having had it yet!!
But, the better question is.... how did you guys get it all the way over here:-p ???
From your photos!
lol.... cough, sputter, lol.... shh...... t . Darn it, don't be making me laugh now. :-p I'm scaring the pets. the cats are staring at me now, getting ready to dart. Clearly they're thinking.. 'what in the heck's going on with you?'
Your forum had it first!! lol
Maybe the pets are afraid you're contagious!
hmmmmm.... if they understand, that's scary!!
I know there's a nasty thing going around here that is knocking people out for a couple of weeks. It seems to have all cold and flu symptoms tied together. Here's a fun facts site:
http://www.flufacts.com/symptoms/default.aspx
That all fit perfectly, every last one of them... until this morning. This morning brought on the rattling/gurgling lungs with wheezing and my ears itch. I fell like such a kid saying that my ears itch!!
Hope you gals feel better soon!
Thanks Jen! I sure hope so too. If I don't try to talk of laugh (ahemm.... Victor. Just kidding) I don't feel all that bad. Hopefully that's sort of the same for Jan. After my doc's appt. I know that i'm going to feel better as I let all of the cold and flu stuff that I took wear off for the appt. After the appt. I'm going to stock up again.

I hope everyone feels better pronto, too!! Being under the weather is no fun!
Hard to avoid it .... people, I mean ..... the last time I was in Wal*Mart, some young boy coughed right into my face, and I got a dirty look from his mother when I scolded him to cover his mouth and NEVER to cough directly into someone's face. You would have thought I struck the poor lad, the way she looked at me.
I was like W.T.H-E-double toothpicks to his mom, and said she should be ashamed of herself too, for not raising her child with better manners, and walked away.
He sounded like a chainsaw that wouldn't start up, the way he was hacking.
People wonder why I tend to not want to go to places where there are a lot of people, that's probably the main reason.
Everytime, I read something funny here and start to laugh, I cough and it hurts. I had a fever, my ears are full he said, and my head hurts. Sometimes, when I cough I gag cuz stuff can't get out all the way and then you try to breathe in and it just doesn't work. I wondered if it could travel from computer to computer. I know I've heard of computer viruses. :)
My grandkids that live close by have been sharing their sicknesses alllll winter long. It just keeps going round and round.
Hope you feel better after going to the docs.
Oh, and BTW, Happy Birthday, again.
Oh, there is now a massage therapist at my doctor's office. lots of choices. I am soooo ready for one.
Actually, Willie, I wish that there were more folks like you in public places!!! Especially since you're clearly very good at reminding folks of their manners! Boy, if I had been standing close enough to see and hear that conversation you had, I likely would have clapped at the end of it!!
In the store today and a guy blew his nose for like 1 min and 30 seconds. I had to walk away - he might not be blowing no more.
DH has had a cold 2 times now. The 1st time I got a sore throat but it went away in a day or two. He had for like a week 1/2. He got it again and suffered for 2-1/2 - 3 weeks. Raspy cough and head snuffing. Been good now for about 3 days.
I have not kissed him yet.
Good for you, Willie. I'm training myself to cough into my elbow now, but old habits are hard to break.
Do your ears itch too Sally? I've never had bronchiatus with itching ears, only ear infections. However, after the actual laughing stops, i feel better. I'd rather be reading funny stuff, and trying not to laugh, than staring at the tv. -
you should treat yourself Sally and go to that Message therapist.
I know that situations often make it tough for the sick to remain at home whilst recovery takes place, but ..... geeze, Louise!!! (and I don't mean our much beloved DonnieBrook!!)
Sometimes .... my mouth gets me into trouble ......
Now, EVERYone who's sick "Git yer gosh darned butts in that bed, NOW!!"
^_^
Schickenlady - don't hold hubby's hand, either. That's the #1 transmission method for colds, they say. Handshakes, doorknobs . . .
Willie - good for you. My line is, "Since you obviously take the time to explain this to your child, I thought you were expecting the rest of us to step up." Okay, I haven't ever really said it, but if someone confronted me directly about reprimanding her child for inappropriate public behavior, I'd be sorely tempted.
Smart Schicken! 2-3weeks is rough. That's the biggest reason why I'm going in, in hopes of not dragging this out forever.
It amazes me how many kids and teenagers that have never been given any sense of manners, especially when it comes to things like spreading colds and stuff. On occasion when I'm in a store and I see someone cough or sneeze without covering, if I have kleenex or my favorite - anti-bacterial hand wipes, I'll hand them one. They usually look at me funny. but, i feel better!!
go for it Katie!!
They probably wonder what it's for. :)
When is your app't?
at 2:00. I'm not even dressed yet :-p how sad is that? I don't have to leave for work until 4. So, hopefully i'll have time to go get something from the pharmacy if they deem it so.
Hope they get you something. Sick is sick - you're getting rest and lots of fluids, right?
Hope you can get some meds. I've just been lazing around today. I will have to cook tonight. We did take-out last night. Don't work too hard tonight if you can help it.
Lots of fluids yes. Rest, yeah probably. Tues was a half day for me at work and on wed. I found someone to cover the first 4 hours of my shift, which was great considering it's normally a 12 hr. shift. Today is variable, what i didn't do today I will have to find a way to get done before Sunday. I sleep fine until the chloroseptic spray wears off (about every 2hr), then I wake up.
Oh well, it's winter. It just makes me look forward to spring soooooo much more!
Did the doc give you anything Jan?
