Sheila, thank you! I am sure I will have plenty of liatris. Mexican hats are pretty, and they are all over our pastures in the early summer. (LOL We call them weeds!) If I can determine which they are by next month, I'll bring you a bunch.
Pattie, I have you down for some 'Lady in Red' salvias. Thank you for the achilleas!
Thanks, Stephanie. I'll bring you several Mexican mint marigolds. If you see anything else on my list you can use, just let me know.
North CENTRAL TX RU **April 5th ** in ARL>>> (TRADES #2)
Thanks for the "shady" compliment, TexasLizzy. I had in the back of my mind that there was something you saw that you liked, but now I can't remember.Maybe it was the columbine. If my red mondarda doesn't return, I will be asking.
Sheila, It doesn't look like the cigar plant is back. How about yours?
Pbtxlady, I saw on your list to give me, limelight coleus. I meant limelight salvia. Sorry for the confusion.
Please check my lists to see if I remembered all.
Wasn't that rain wonderful? I was even able to pull out some dandelions with the roots intact...any takers?
ROFL, Sheila! You know I grabbed your Folger's container at the Jacksonville RU--didn't dig in it, just planted the whole thing. I didn't realize there were a bunch in there. Then I made the very large mistake of planting them in the ground. They are everywhere! Sending out runners about 6 feet all the way around, and heading for the pond. LOL! Luckily I knew about the horsetail rush. It's in my pond, in a mesh pot, but gets root-pruned regularly. I love it. I don't even have to put up dragonfly stakes any more.
Anna, let me check on the limelight. I have coleus seeds, columbine seeds, and salvia seeds. ONE, maybe two, of those is called limelight, but right now I can't say which. I'll take a look tomorrow and see.
Pat....Thanks!
Anna.... The cigar plant hasn't put out anything yet. It was the first year I had it, so I am not sure when they show life. I know mine didn't bloom until early summer but it was in part shade. Anyone else see life in theirs?
Pattie.....Oh yes, I stuffed those EE containers full. LOL!! I bet you did have a jungle.
Question about trading the daffodils.... What is the best way to bring to RU...ones that have already bloomed...should the flower be cut or not.
Stephanie , I have purple oxalis for you.
Thanks, Anna! Awesome!
I'm going to bring some daylilies and I plan on digging them up, cleaning the dirt off, whacking the tops down to about 6"-8" and then wrapping them in wet newspaper. Then, I'll put them in a plastic grocery bag so everything doesn't get wet.
Nice to be able to bring plants without pots!
Hint that I have to give my mother every yr when she thinks plants I have given her (like the Cigar plant) are not coming back: Ya'll had freezing temps last wk & your ground isn't warmed up yet! Give them time! They are hardy in FtW!!
She gets so upset every spring thinking that ya'll's harsh winter has killed something else. She will be 85 on March 31!
Like mother, like daughter. Every yr, I think my Mulberry tree is a goner. It is the last to flush out & the first to loose its leaves in the fall.
What is it that they say about gardening & patience? With Old-heimers kicking in, I have to remind myself every yr, also!!! lol
:~)
Thanks for the advice. When everything is starting to grow it is easy to be impatient with a "late bloomer"
Sheila, do I have anything that you would take in trade for your yellow sedum katchatam?
Sure aardvark7..... How about a rain lily and a pink/yellow 4 o'clock? I will fix you a big pot of sedum.
OK Sheila, got you down for four o'clocks and rain lilies. Thanks for the sedum - I'm looking for groundcovers for some hills in front and sedums should work great.
Sheila, may I have some of your four o'clocks? Let me know if you would like anything on my list.
Charlene
Hey Charlene, if you want some four o'clocks I have some. They are dark pink and pink/yellow splash. I will save you a couple if you want them. Do you have any daffodils left? I have been thinking that daffodils and/or forsythia would look awesome with my redbuds for Spring blooms.
aardvark, will you save me a four o'clock or two? My mom would just love some. I can bring you some great sedum groundcover if you need some.
Pattie, I will put you down for a couple of four o'clocks. Thanks for the sedum - I am starting a 'collection' of sedums for the front 'hills'.
Okay, got you down. Thanks for the four o'clocks--my mom will love you for bringing back her great childhood memories. :)
Aardvaark, I'd be glad to bring you some daffodils. Thanks for the four o'clocks.
Charlene
Oh, man... toss the primrose. LOL!
Patio
Shhhh! Pattie....Someone may want a meadow full of white blossoms and butterflies this year!
I don't know why it didn't post the rest of my comment. I spent the whole day pulling up primroses. I enjoyed the meadow full of white blossoms for about 10 years. Then I spent the next 10 trying to keep them from choking out everything else!
I'll take some Obedient Plants. I'd like to put some in a container on my back patio.
You have them Stephanie!
Pattie.....Well I guess with that recommendation, no one will take me up on those! LOL! I may take them down to the country and let my GNephew plant them along the lane.
I will take some Obedient plant and primrose Sheila.
Josephine.
Sheila, I would love some Obedient plant and primrose. I guess I may have to keep an eye on the primrose so it doesn't choke out everything else in the meadow. But a few here and there would be very welcome. ;)
If someone would like some tomatillos or cherry tomatoes, please speak up now because I was not expecting them ALL to germinate and I really hate to toss edibles. Otherwise I'll have to walk down the road to the neighbors and beg someone to take them.
Aardvark, I could use a couple of your tomatillos and cherry tomatoes. Please check my list to see what I can bring for you.
OK Pat I've got you for 2 tomatillos and 2 cherry tomatoes. Could I try your blackberry plant? I am wondering if they are self-pollinating though or do they require cross-pollination? My 14 yr old LOVES berries (birdies too).
Aardvark, if you still have some, we'll try a couple. Let me know if you see anything on my list you'd like.
Aardvark, thank you for the tomatillos and tomatoes. All my blackberry plants are the same variety and bear heavily, so they must be self-fertile. I'll bring you several plants, and you'll have a thicket in a few years.
I will have obedient plants too.
Aardvark, please don't toss the maters! If you have extras, please save me a couple.
Sheila, I will take some of your extra plants and I will add them to the roadside plants growing here on my road. They will be great there.
Charlene
Does anyone have brandywind tomatoes started? When I was sick, my seedlings all bit the dust. I would love any heirloom veggies.
Charlene
Pat, thank you for the blackberries - those will be a hit with my family.
I think I have everyone down for the fruits:
Patrob: 2x tomatillo, 2x cherry tomato
Pbtxlady: 2x cherry tomato
StephanieTx: 2x tomatillo, 2x cherry tomato
2 tomatoes and 2 tomatillos left, so whoever asks first can have them.
Charlene, I'm growing a 'packet' of assorted heirloom tomatoes, including four different Brandywines. Unfortunately, I don't know what seed is growing what tomato! :0 I guess it will be a 'surprise' for me to see what I end up with. I'm hoping the Brandywines are as good as I have heard they are.
Thank you, aardvark! My DH will be so happy!
Have you down for both primrose and obedient plants Charlene.
What does Primroses look like?
Sylvia, you know it's that white, pink, or yellow ("buttercups") flower that grows all over the place. Pretty to look at but it is a weed and grows like one, too! You see it all over the roadsides.
Here's the pink one: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53444/
bananna18, I need to take the blue mist off the list, one of the MG's gave me a bunch. Thanks though.
Jenpat I could use the Euonymous, if you still want the Yucca
