I hvae lots of golden tiara hostas, could i offer them in exchange for the indigo spires salvia?
thanks.
North CENTRAL TX RU **April 5th ** in ARL>>> (TRADES #2)
Pat, I would love more daisies. I only had the one last year, and every time I looked for more, they were sold out. I'll wait and see what my Lady in Red does before I ask for more of those.
I think I'm going to have some new named coleus from Rosy Dawn before the RU, but they won't get here until a few days before. If they are big enough to take unrooted cuttings from, are you interested? Or is there anything else I can bring you? I don't have everything on my list yet, but keep checking.
By the way, all the daylilies you brought me last fall are up and growing. Hope some will bloom this year--can't wait to see them.
Sure, Liz, I have a place for Golden Tiara, and when Indigo Spires is big enough to cut, I'll be glad to bring you one. (It roots amazingly fast.) I am concerned, though, that my salvias aren't going to come out and have time to root cuttings before April 5. I may have to bring some things that are potted up but not ready to plant out. Is that okay?
sure! that's fine.
Liz, I'd love to have any of your father's daylilies! When 'Prankster' is big enough to divide, I'll try to come up with something special to offer you for a fan of it. :>) If you have a spare, I'd like to have a start of the 'Golden Tiara' hosta too.
Pattie, I'd love coleus cuttings, of course, but don't cut your new ones back too much. I'll check your list again closer to the RU. I'm sure you will have something I "need."
patrob - I got you down for noid daylily and a prankster (I have a fan you can have now, I am SURE) and soem golden tiara.
L
Liz, thank you! I have some newer daylilies that may have divisions. The danged deer have just gnawed them to the ground again, so I don't have any idea yet what I'll bring for you. There may be venison sausage for everybody if the fence builder does not get here soon.

I'm nearly serious! A neighbor harvested a deer last week because it kept coming on his porch and eating pot plants. Not at all legal this time of year. Our little subdivision is surrounded by hundreds of acres of undeveloped pasture, so it's not that the deer are starving. They want the tastiest bites, of course, and the pastures have mostly dry grass, not green.
Pat, if they aren't big enough when they get here, I can always get you some later in the year. Maybe College Station--you're making that one, aren't you?
Yes, Pattie, I am planning to be at the CS RU, and that would be a good time for us to swap coleuses. I may have a few that you don't have rooted and ready to go by then. My little greenhouse is stuffed right now, but I keep taking cuttings, potting, and squeezing them in. I'll inventory better when I trust that it's really spring and can move some things outside.
Does anyone have a belinda's dream rose? Mine bit the dust last year. It was such a pretty thing and it bloomed often.
Charlene
PAT ... that is not the tree you posted. This tree have long bean pods on it at some time or the other. The tree has big rounded leaves .. I think the name starts with C ... maybe not.
Is there a section on trees anywhere?
Sylvia I think you may be talking about the catalpa tree: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1682/
Sylvia, there was a lady named Jo at the Arlington swap last fall with catalpa trees, some large ones. I don't remember the long beans, but here's a photo showing the mature seed pods. http://flickr.com/photos/judybaxter/5331064/ I traded for one of those trees and hope it grows. Maybe she will come and have more this time. I think, but I'm not sure, that she is a friend of Josephine.
Yes, we work together at the greenhouse, I will ask her if she has any more Catalpas and let you know.
Cocoa, I'd love to try some cuttings. So far I have struck out on all my rose attempts that I have undertaken seriously. However, I was given an unknown rose that was apparently a climber last month. I cut it back just above the crown and cut the trimmed part into pieces and stuck them in the dirt of the pot where I planted the bush. They have almost all greened out and rooted. Go figure!
I don't think my limelight salvia (plant or cutting) made through the winter. Anyone have a cutting to trade?
Charlene, do you have another passionflower to trade?
Anna, I have some limelight seeds sown. They aren't up yet, but if they do germinate by then, I'll be glad to share seedlings.
Oh goody! Keep me posted.
Thanks so much. Anything interest you from my list?
DATURA12, I have Blue Mist flower~ Eupatorium greggii if you still need.
Anna, do you still have any of the John Fannick phlox? If so, may I have one please?
Charlene, could you save a passionflower for me? I have lots of philipene lilies and rain/fairy lilies to trade for it. I also have alot of blue eyed grass coming up all over the place and could pot some of those for you. Thanks. Stacey
Anna, if you have another John Fannick phlox, I'd love to have it.
Banana, you are already giving me trades, so no more are needed.
Aardvark, may I have a varigated spider for a passie?
Charlene you are right! I just remebered tonight. Pat, your picture look just like the one I have seen. Josephine tell your friend I will trade for some Hostas.;)
Thanks Guys
Charlene, I will pot up a variegated spider plant for you today. Thanks.
Stephanie and Patrob, got you down for phlox.
Thanks Charlene, I am going to dig the mex. bush sage today, There is garlic growing near it...it might hop on board.
Thank you, Anna! I hope I will have some more plants that you can use.
I am beginning to see sprouts in the garden and in my seed trays too. The RU is going to sneak up on me, so I will likely bring extra plants that I have not listed. I usually don't have room to squeeze anything else in, but this time I think I will.
Oh thank you, Anna!! Growing up in San Antonio, we used to go to Fannick's Nursery regularly.
So far all I've got to "give away" is a red Canna bulb. But I haven't spent a great deal of time in my flowerbeds as yet, so I'm sure I'll have other things to bring. I have a GAZillion Cowpen Daisy seedlings popping up everywhere. Does anyone know how well they transplant? If they do well, I'll bring a bunch. It is a wonderful plant and was the #1 most used by the butterflies last year.
How are the Possumhaw Holly cuttings coming along?
Carla
Well done, Thicket! I've never been successful at rooting anything (except one Orange Esperanza), so I am mightily impressed. Someone upthread asked how fast PH Hollies grow. From my experience, they grow slowly if in the shade. But if in full sun, they will grow very fast.
