Frank I haven't seen any Red-heads yet...how early are the gators?

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well thanks everyone for the spring updates.

I just got a call from my Mom who told me that she had a huge flock of robins in the yard today. *happy dance*.

I know they are staying around all winter, more and more but a whole flock! Her bluebirds have returned too.

Florence, MS(Zone 8b)

I saw the first gator a week ago. There were two out yesterday. Being cold blooded they don't come out of there winter dens till the water warms enough.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

No photo..but I had my first Red-winged Blackbird at the feeder today!! Later I could hear one singing while I was cleaning up more in the yard. 60 today at my house...snow showers possible over the weekend...UGH!!!!!

The Goldfinches are gone from my yard for now. I expect that the next time I see them they'll be yellow!
I am also hearing a lot of new bird song and I love it.
Here is a pic I took of a Carolina Chickadee resting on my Purple Martin house

I forget what a group of Turkeys is called, and I only got a couple in this picture, but they were part of one of the largest flocks of Wild Turkeys I had ever seen. I bet there was at least 20 of 'em.

Rose, so glad that your little Dickcessel made it. He is looking very handsome!

Purple Finch was here again yesterday...if he came today I missed him.

Here in the summer when turkeys scratch up our iris seedlings they are a nuisance. OK at this time of year except for the flock in Rockport, MA which chase the mailman.
