This is cool stuff and post # 3595 Babel Fish translates to:

It is [supamu] measure fatigue. Because this bulletin board is valuable source, we anticipated reopening. The picture is sparrow unevenness car 咲 peony system of the chimera connection. The buckling still, is visible simply ardently in the 咲 peony, if, but hybridization and selection are repeated steadily, it can create the flower of ideal once upon a time,…Yes and we can! dany my MJ are now up and climbing they are about two feet tall and running out of stick to climb on can I clip it, and will that make it bushier

mona

szarvas, Hungary

Mona I think that it's not a problem of clip or not clip . It' s a real genetic mutation .
But it's a good reflextion , the " clipping " of the plant increase the number of blooms , the size of the bloom , the size of the plant .
They are clipping and clipping.
Joseph on an other thread try to clip MG on the Japan mode , very early in the live of the plant ( to make a petunia LOL ) that increase the size of the bloom ( see the Japanese exhibitions ) .

Or later , when the plants are 2 ' high .I use to clip my plants because it make that the plants looks stronger. But when we see the Kyushu University garden they don't clip they plants ! or later

Dany - "chastity belt" LOL! Most definitely!!! Too funny!

I snipped mine back to very short and I did get a LOT of blooms on my window sill vines. But the heat really fried them, so perhaps more leaves are better!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

dany thanks for the info mine had hit about two feet and clipped off six inches this morning now I will wait and see on the bilateral growth on that one compare to the ones that I did not clip will also check on the size of the flowers

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Right,I`m sure the thread isn`t just for decoration. :)

The Japanese know exactly what they want to do with their best plants. Some Japanese people breed them as a hobby and it isn`t exactly rocket science either. What they think is normal stuff seems "technical" to some.

They also grow them and don`t care if they cross. There are many ways of enjoying morning glories in every part of the world.

szarvas, Hungary

Yes Karen , but look what happend to their baby !

Here is the list of the large MG by colour - " large Wheel " no pics .
But if I understand the list is in correlation with the book of Komeda Yoshiaki ( 2006 ) for sell on Yahoo-Japan
http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=_t&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.jp%2Fsakabe_labo%2Fasagao%2Fflavonoid_kanren%2Fflowercolor_index.html&sl=ja&tl=en&history_state0=&swap=1
Now the creator of new cultivar can know if the strain already exist or it can help to choice an original name - I don't know if those name are registred.

Here is one that I'm bidding for on Yahoo-Japan.
I don't know if it's Fujishibori after midday or a really red-purple.

Hi Dany, that is the book I have been having translated bit by bit. It shows some real JMG beauties indeed!

Joseph

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

as soon as my MGs got over a foot tall I started to fertilize them with 15-52-15 which is to promote blooming maybe the will bloom before 65 days with this stuff it worked on other plants made them bloom much earlier now i wait and see

This message was edited Mar 13, 2009 2:41 PM

The JMGs respond by flowering when daylength becomes shorter over time; that sets them off into making flowers. The fertilizer will get them to make tons of flowers afterwards.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

thanks for the info

They call this form of MG : Petrified Tree F3

Thumbnail by dany12
(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Dany - That is absolutely WILD looking! Love how it looks like a mini tree! Is this one that you have or just found on the internet?

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

It looks like a broccoli-glory. How unusual. :)

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

dany after getting a real good look at the japanese MG seeds it looks like they are a cross between MG and moonflowers is that why the blooms are so big
some of the ones I got from emma are already coming up I made sure to nick them and soak them in warm water that way they come up in two or three days lol I am not patient when it comes to knowing if the seeds are going to grow cant wait to see the difference in the leaves to see if they are more like the leaves from moonflowers or the regular MGs

szarvas, Hungary

On Yahoo-Japan , an other think very very interesting.

Ooooh! Dany - I really like the second photo mix! Nice selection of vines and blooms! I wish I could visit Japan and hit all the shows to purchase some seed packs of the newer cultivars that are coming out. But alas ... I will have to keep crossing mine to come up with some different vines, instead. :-)

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)
