This vine , for me it's a enigma !

Dany - What is the enigma about the MG that you posted above (?)...are you wondering what the species is (?)...or why it has heart shaped leaves (?)...

szarvas, Hungary

Ron, the problem is that there is no Ipomoea Purpurea totaly dark pink (the Crimson Rambler family has a white tube ) , it's I. Purpurea or Tricolor leaf .
It's not Scarlett o'Hara with his trilobed leaf ( I. Nil ), so what is it ?

dany - it looks like an Ipomoea nil...

my babies are starting to look like morning glories and they are growing really well so thanks dany for the info you have given me it is all working out cant wait to get the rest of the seeds I purchased to get them growing also, it is going to be a great summer with such beautifull blooms I just cant wait

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Dany, some ipomoea nils do have heart shaped leaves. I had some purple i nils similar to the red ones in the picture you are showing with the solid heart shaped leaves and the sepals are long and thin typical of i nils.

szarvas, Hungary

I'll buy those seeds ( 10 Yens ) and I'll grow them this summer .
Here is a rare from the new generation !

you do have a sense of humour hahhahahahah

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

To illustrate here is a obviously ipomoea nil that has cordate shaped variegated leaves. They also can come in small flower and solid green cordate leaf.

WOW! That is a striking blue and very pretty!

The easiest way I learned the differences was to view them side by side.

Hi Dany,

I think that is about donating bone marrow to cure diseases in patients with leukemia, aplastic anemia, and some immune deficiency diseases. The marrow of our bones is the spongy middle part that makes our blood cells. We would die without the marrow in the bones making new blood cells. The treatment they use to destroy abnormal cancer cells in a patient will also destroy their healthy bone marrow cells. Harvested marrow is transplanted from a donor to replace and grow back so the patient can live after the treatment.

School children in Japan grow morning glories for projects. I suppose maybe they are using the morning glory for a theme to encourage healthy people to donate marrow to help sick children? It is my best guess. :)

Karen

Edited: I came back to add more information.

In the past, donation of stem cells from bone marrow involved surgery to draw marrow from the hipbones. Stems cells were then collected from the donated marrow. Today the most common way of collecting the stem cells is by filtering them directly from donated blood. Many people still refer to it as bone marrow donation, even though bone marrow isn't directly involved.

That is a bit off topic but interesting I think.

Dany,

I love this picture. If I could get what I wanted from this greenhouse they could keep the plants. I would buy the dirt in the background and take home a truck load. :)

Oh let me rephrase that! I mean boat load. I would also go seed shopping and find out what products they use on their plants. Yes, it would be smooth sailing all the way home!

wow dany thanks for that link... i'm going to have a go at that :-)

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

hydroponics

a friend of mine has his own store and he says it is the best way to grow cutings that they root in less than half the time with better root systems, as for germination of seed it only cuts a few days and it is then the transfer process to soil there is always a minimal lost of plants but no more than any other method of growing

he did say that if the additives are not done exactly right that the plants from seed grow to quickly compare to the roots and that when you actually plant in soil the root system is not mature enough to feed the plant since with a water system they do not have to work as hard to get the nutrients

if you do all lot of cutting it is worth having a small system but for growing from seed it is not worth the expense. money better spent on lights first
