fancy Pixie!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I don't think I'll have to worry about these re-seeding!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

since the wall is to retain the back side of the pool area the wall is two and a half wide some places three feet it is holding a large load and it has a 18 wall higher up we would have had to go 25 feet out to grade it properly and since the property line not allow us that distance we had to retain so we went five feet from the pool edge and dropped it 18 inches and then three feet out and dropped it three feet with the next wall so a total of 10 feet distance to compensate for 25

the biggest worry we had was that in the spring we have a creek that forms with all the water that drains in the area with grading it would have interfered with the water and washed everything away so we did the wall 2.5 to 3 feet wide and made sure to use huge rocks at the base to make sure nothing would more

so the lenght we did last summer is the wall that is the full lenght of the pool plus 15 feet at each end longer what is left to do is the rest of the L which is the deep end section of the pool the rock got pilles there when the digging took place and these are the biggest ones DH things some are 1000 pounds lol a metal bar is not going to work unless the person doing it is 500 pounds since bar usually works with up to twice the waight of the person lol DH is 185 so we are falling short about 6 hundred pounds will have to figure out something better

maybe use a saw to cut groves and then maybe drill with large bit and break then, it is not possible to get a backhoe into that location that is what we really need

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sounds like a ton of work

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

wow those are so nice
love the colors

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Pixie, nice MG's. I would rather have one with wheels. But yours will be lovely. Patti

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I like the blue & the purple & white one... wish I was brave enough to grow them

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

mono good luck with the wall - it does sound like work it the stones are that large.

pixie i really liked that last MG

South Hamilton, MA

We don't have MG, unfortunately have bindweed which fights with the peonies every year.

Okay - any bird lovers know what this is? Not a great pic. Was zoomed all the way but still far. I was looking for eagles and this is certainly big. Think it's one or a large hawk?

Thumbnail by victorgardener

Guessing that far away the color of the wings - a hawk.

South Hamilton, MA

DH ids it as a possible red tailed hawk, going by the dark feathers below the white breast feathers.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks to both of you. I figured it was a large hawk.

Here's a fuzzier, but closer, cropped pic.

What program do you crop with? I find that if I do it in kodak the picture dont come out as good. If I use Ulead its better.
If you want send me the original pic and I will see what I can do with it.

I use ACDSee for my photo stuff.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I dont use the U for color when I type on here but the U S is the only country that spells it color every one else spells it colour and there are other words also like neighbor is usually spelled neighbour lol

oh well it doesnt matter all the same meaning

look post above

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

wow - ulead and acdsee i used to sell both of those companies compression software code. i just use the cannon software that came with the camera.

louks like a hawk right mona?

I will not use the camera software. I take the picture from the camera and transfere it whole to Ulead (used to use adobe photoshope). As far as I can see it makes lots of difference. I never zoom in on the picture from the camera - it blurrs it as far as I can tell.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i'll have to take a survey here at work with the imaging scientists and see what these "experts" use

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Brian said a Red Tailed Hawk too.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

non-scientific survey completed - for free software it is gimp - http://www.gimp.org/
photoshop if you are going to spend money - so say the experts here anyway

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - Photoshop, or at least Elements, is the real deal and what I will eventually get. I am used to ACDSee and each version adds more editing tools.

Thanks Celeste.

I have used all the graphic programs out there .... yet, I still keep returning to Adobe software (eg PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc) for not only their user friendliness / intuitiveness, but also for the flexibility and diversity I require in designing. (Certainly NOT for their prices, however!!)

We forget the competition's names, only to refer to them as HorribleDRAW or Punisher files, etc. when they arrive in our laps. The hoops we have to jump through to get artwork from these programs to work accurately with the printers is mind-boggling .....

And, since Adobe created PDF (and was the original Font/Postscript developer), it is unlikely that any software other than Adobe software will ever handle everything well.

Of course, I have been using Adobe programs since the mid 80's.

Oops. Was that all Greek?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What do you design, Willie?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Mostly garbage .... sigh ......

Signs, Posters, Banners, Logos, Newsletters, Stickers .....

Anything but that which looks CAD-designed.

Here is one of my "fun" projects. It is a physical / political world map. Using all public sources for the elements. The maps from the CIA website, the Constellation images from NASA, along with the background picture of space, etc.

I designed this one to be about 12 foot by 4 foot, I think. My area of design at the moment happens to focus on Large-Format (over 24-inches) stuff.

oh and by the way... your seed packets are great!!!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

WNYwillieB, That would make a great jigsaw puzzle

Bird day here too. My pair. Red tail hawk. They nest each year just across the street from my bedroom window and computer desk. I wish they did a better job with the rabbits in my yard.

I just use picasa 3. Too lazy to learn the fancy stuff. Plus it is free. Patti

Wow - very nice, Willie! When is it available?!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice hawk shots!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Anyone use Aviary tools?

http://aviary.com/tools

The basics are free and look interesting (check out the videos). Haven't tried it yet because...well...I hate learning curves....

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Aren't those seed packets great, Allison??!!?? I got the template for that off of DG, here, of course! My friends all have derogatory comments for my "attention to detail," shall we say!!

Thanks, Patti. I have an 8foot by 4foot print of that mounted to foamcore hanging on the wall.

Of course, I had to add in labels for my home town ... and Bikini Bottom!

Victor and Everyone: Here's a link to a full-sized (90x54) low res file for better viewing or reproduction. Should cost about $7 / square foot retail (at least around here) at your local large format printer ..... times that by 4 for FedEx Kinkos.

http://67.246.179.135/worldmap.PDF

If you want to get a copy printed I can provide you a link to high-res artwork for that.
