Ok, so I went over to some friends house today for what was supposed to be just a short trip to pick up some plants to take somewhere else for them. They are landscapers and I have never been to their house before. Wow, the work that they have put into their yard and they're not even to about a third of what they want to do. I only got pictures taken of about 1/4 of it as I was trying to take pictures as they were taking me on a tour of their place. So, I didn't always have a chance to make adjustments to the settings on the camera and then I ran out of batteries. I'm going to go back there on the next sunny day we have. i've only sorted through maybe half of the pics that I took today. Don't worry, I'm not going to post more than just a few of them tonight.

redchic01, I don't know if I want to see more picture of that garden. I might just give up, take up TV watching and let the weeds grow. Humbling. Patti

Patti Remember, landscapers often have help. Your garden is fantastic, more than most of us can do.

Doesnt everything?
Irma Bombeck once wrote "The grass is always greener over the septic tank"
Not sureif it was a book or article.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

ge...lol....i need to fertilizer my septic tank believe it or not. They put little but sterile crushed rock over it.

Do snowdrops spread much, Victor?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - mine have not.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We're moving back into the upper cupboards in the kitchen so I'm dashing between computer and spices.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Victor....Planted mine in 2007 and there might be a few more this year but its not real noticable.

Species crocus are up....a few more days to bloom though

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Mine have spread, but slowly over the 25 years. I do let them go to seed and when the pods rippen I then throw the pods around the garden. A few have taken and are starting new patches but a very slow go. I need to dig some up this year when they are dormant to start some in new areas. Here is a patch of them by the front door. First ones out in last week of Jan and they will bloom until early April. The last two picture were take April 12 and show them almost all gone and being replaced by a planting of Chionodoxa forbesii 'Giant blue'. They are so jolly. Patti

Here is a great site about them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A3694728

There arent but two. I'll take more and post in a minute

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Ge1836, When I am not planning gardens, I am planning houses. Helps pay for my garden excess. Always interested in new use of old space. More fun than doing jigsaw puzzles. Patti

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Bbrookrd...thanks! Appreciate seeing what they will look like as the bed matures. Think I'll put some more in this fall (hmmm...I did plant something right next to them but don't remember what...perhaps chionodoxa...have to wait a month and see what the area looks like)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti, my father was the first rehaber befor Bob Villa.
After WW2 there was a huge influx of GI's going to Cornell on the GI Bill and they needed houses. My dad turned three properties into apt. houses.
I lived with remodel all my 18 years there.
Here's our kitchen
Alder lower cabinets w/ drawers the self close ,too funny.
The convection microwave oven has to be lowered.I nearly burned my boobs getting supper out the first night.

Nice cabinets ge....my dad was in the business too but back in the 60s when cabinets were usually solid. So much better with the glass.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Very nice. Can you lower the both the Oven and the Microwave by removing both dividers (below and above the oven) and give yourself a safe height? Burning food is bad, burning boobs is worse. The dead space left over above the MW could be used for sheet trays/cookie sheets with a top hinged narrow door. I like the mixed use of cabinets, some solid, some glass. You must be thrilled. Patti
