That is a really neat pic Pelle...a keeper for sure!
Awful pics Vol. 6
wow, that bird taking off does NOT look happy!
Now that is a good pic of a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet. My bad pics of kinglets are the ones where there is no bird actually in the photo!
Pelle, I totally laughed at your pic b/c I'd just been outside having a stand off with the grackles and the starlings. I told them that they were not allowed to bathe in my pond anymore and that I would out last them in the stand off which I did!
Good morning, Elphaba, and thanks for your kind comment. But, until I get myself a better camera, I'm afraid that ALL of my photos will be BAD! I know exactly how you feel about those pesky Grackles and Starlings. Bird seed and suet are far too expensive to waste on the likes of them. LOL
I think that picture is fine for the daily pix!
I never see waxwings here in town. What's the other one at the water?
I'm so jealous! My neighbor's mulberry tree is full of berries. Most don't look ripe yet, but the birds have been eating them anyway. Usually the waxwings have already shown up for the feast, but I haven't seen one yet.
Thank you, Mrs. Ed. That other bird is a Thrush. He was here for a couple of days when we had all of that snow. Elphaba, this year our Waxwings came later than they usually do. Don't worry: they'll find you. Hopefully Mr. Mockingbird won't be there to scare away the "scouts." We had a terrible time with our MB when the first WW tried to land on our inkberry bush.
or jumped! Cool pic Frank!
Nice one wb! (waxwings etc.)
Thank you, Pelletory. Your photo of the Grackle in flight is great. You can almost hear him shout "Geronimo!"
jumped in the same direction.
Is he vibrating burn? ;-)
I have a lot of those days burn...LOL!

Hi, guys - Sorry it took me so long to get back here (computer illiterate - don't
know how to mark threads!). I got an answer to my titmouse & safflower seed
question. I was outside about 2 wks ago when I heard a distinctly different bird
call. I saw 1 lone titmouse in a maple tree. It went to my SquirrelBuster Plus
feeder ( with only safflower) & went back & forth repeatedly, 1 seed at a time.
I heard the same call in the trees for a few days, then nothing. Apparently, it may
have only been passing thru with a bunch of other birds. It sure was cute, tho, &
fun to watch. Hopefully it'll remember where it got the eats. But it sure did seem
to like the safflower ( I had other stuff out elsewhere in the yard).
Very good carol!
Hi Carol, just in respond to your observation on Titmouse, they seem to enjoy sunflowerseeds too. That's what I've on my backyard feeder, and they come to feed with other songbirds in a ruglar basic here. :-) They're just very shy, usually they won't hang around like finches do, but pick on seeds then fly off. Though, there is one, she/he seems to be accustomed to the environment. She would pick a seed fly up to a nearby branch and enjoy her meal there. :-)
So cute seemama!!! I love it when birds do that.
We're on a New Thread now. Here is the link:
