interesting story RC... and nice pics... thanks for sharing

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Thanks, I guess I just figured that it sort of explains how one can end up dealing with so many trees, while not actually falling them. Probably also brought about some by the fact that I was just talking with a few of my past crew members earlier this evening. Good grief, I need to go to bed! Good night!!

nutsfordaylily, We were in sync with you. This was our burn pile this week. Ours was mostly two pitch pines which we could not burn in the wood stove. Sad loss of good heat, but we enjoyed the day outside and the fire which burned for about 24 hours. We sat outside for hours under the cold night sky. But no marshmallows. Patti

all this fire chatter made me go find this photo - this was from a couple years ago - i collected all the dead white pines and built this tepee - this fire was HOT could only stand where i took the picture - it even burnt some branches of a hickory that is just out of this shot to the right.

Nice fire shots you two. Not much else you can do with the pines. That sort of thing makes me very nervous even when you have to get a permit and have a hose and watch it closely. There are 80 acres of woods around two sides of my yard and no access roads really. The woods are more often than not very dry with lots of oak leaves on the ground surface so if a fire ever gets going it will be very hard to stop.

Nice shots!

No marshmallows? AAWWW
I was thinking of you yesterday, JoAnn and wondering how the remodel was going.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The men showed up at 8 and the cabinets showed up at 8:15 there is nice progress now that its 10:30.
Mny of the upper cabinets are in and the lower ones near the sink are next. I wouldnt be surprised if they finish tomorrow. Then we can really cook again.
I'll take pictures.

Wha, everything you do is so neat. So cool. I loved having the fire and we do it in the middle of the yard with a hose on and no trees near by. But it does make me nervous. We will have an ugly burn spot for most of the summer. But paying to leave many truck loads at the dump is even less appealing. I can afford to replant with that money. Patti

Perform any rituals, Bill?

We're not allowed to do any burns like that in NJ.

Allison, pretty flower... looks kinda like a morning glory.

Nice JoAnn.

You must be very pleased with the progress on your new kitchen so far. Looking good to me and I am very jealous of all those lovely new cabinets. I bet you can't wait for the construction to end and the settling into your new cooking digs to begin.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

joann - it looks nice and your lucky with the timing of the workers and cabinets!

patti - if you saw my garage work bench and the inside of the shed you would not think i was neat - i'm not too worried about the fire spreading - the back yard here is pretty wet

no rituals victor

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice, Jo Ann.

ge1836, Great kitchen redo. Moving that refrig to be flush was the best thing. I love the pantry and the corner cabinet. Plus the new view. I hope there is a special wall for some of your art.

wha, Sheds are by nature a mess. I always haul everything out each spring and organize it , but I think the shed rearrange itself during wild midsummer nights bashes between the tools and the junk, as it ends up in a complete mess again by fall. Not me, I promise. Last April. It will be worse this year. Patti

Same bash happens in my garage. Weird, isn't it?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

if i moved stuff out it would disturb the mice :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nothing worse than confused mice.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

WOOHOO!!! looking great, JoAnn.

Love those pot holders, Patti. Are they cast iron? They look heavy.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

No art work in the kitchen until DD changes the paint color.
I went to a premium paint store and spent time and my camera looking for the same color as my livingroom
Gave the sample to DD and she went to HD and winged it and came up with this merigold /pumpkin color.UGGGG.
I havnt said anything to her, shell realize it when everything is done.

I like the wood color.

OMG Victor I am speechless.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee!

Another good one for today!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Ge1836, That is the best new feature of our redone kitchen a few years ago too. Funny to spend a zillion dollars and what you love the most is the new plastic recycle bins. Victor, you are not invited.

Jan23, good eye. I found those at an auction in the junk sale. They are old and very heavy. I got the lot for 78.00 buck. There are 6 of them. Not so junkie and such a deal. They sell plastic re-pros of them which is what I think most of the people thought at the auction. Patti

LOL! Victor you are bad, funny as heck but definitely bad. :)
Patti I agree those are very nice, a good find for sure. Can't beat nice heavy old stuff like that.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Those pots are awesome.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Pat. I agree about the iron containers. Great find.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Deck is beautiful Patti

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

The deck is on the east side of the house, so it is a great morning spot. Plus part of it is covered. We use it more than any place in the summer. It is were we move all the GH plants to in the spring until Oct. It is the dogs favorite place too. Patti
