(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks AnnMarie......she had a good nap and we just finished Clam chowder, crackers and salad........she doesn't like the pain meds.....she has never done well with medications....think we are going to a half of one after this.......may be a long night.

Tell your Mom to get well soon.

Thanks LK, that is sooo cute, I will show it to her when she wakes up....she was doing really well until she took another pain pill.....didn't stay down....said she will take a great deal of pain before she will take another one.....she is allergic to a lot of pain meds, may have to go with the IBP for tonight and see what the doctors office says tomorrow....may be a long night.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She may need some phenergan, to help her out. I know I can't take pain meds. They make me so sick to my tummy!
Make sure she eats something, that will help some.
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks LK....she is sleeping right now.....they gave her Percocet, the phenergan, IBP and an antibiotic need make sure she takes the phenergan far enough before the Perc. to do some good.....if I can get her to take it.....will give it a try when she wakes up.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Gillian, I could use one of those. I’m always wrapped up in a blanket, but mine are more piles than neat arrangements like that. Especially on the computer like I am now.

In regards to “Dining tables” I think DH and I decided we aren’t even going to have one at the new house. 99% of the time it’s used as craft table/junk collector; so we’re going to use the dinning room as a computer room. The place is small so we’re trying to figure out what we can do without.

Laura, I’m so glad you found your bother. I can’t even imagine being in that situation with my brother; I’d have no hair and finger nails by the time we found him.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Where are you all at. Betty you OK? You normally post by now, even if your not working!
Please take care, and have a great week-end.

Morning...drats I'm sick and tired of being sick..tummy wasn't the best last night, in bed around 7pm..Sailor woke me at 10:00, by the time I got myself back in bed the newsbulletin came in that a plane had crashed on a home near Buffalo..of course Debbie came to mind so couldn't get back to sleep .. those poor families to get such news as they waited for their love ones to arrive .. many at airport only miles away..heartbreaking for sure..sending prayers for them

Laura (Wonderbug) I'm so glad you now know your brother is safe...must be relieved...did hear on the news this morning that they are getting closer to the 2nd suspect whom they believe started those deadly fires...

Listening to local news they have arrested a young man in the arson of the Wasaga Beach waterfront stores..so much damage was done..anyway, lad is from Barrie area and they can't release his name because he was a juvenile when it happened..they are now on a trail of another 21 year old and a possible arrest will be made...luckily there were no injury or death..so many businesses went under though not only from loss in fire but because this strip was totally destroyed tourism dropped substantially..

Trisha, thank goodness all went well for your mom yesterday..pain for a few days and then she'll be her old self, you'll not keep up..lol..

Laura, bet you are excited about the move! I'm sure all those gardeners out there will help you establish a shade garden..I'm not sure of the age of your children (sorry) are they in school..sometimes that is traumatizing for children, moving away from all their friends?

Shar, love the lightbulbs and will have to go in search of the thread as well..don't you find that lightbulbs just don't last as long as they used to..seems I'm always purchasing pkgs. Saw an add in the flyer last night that Home Hardware have the lightbulbs that are designed in a diamond glass shape..when you put them in the stained glass lamp what a difference it makes..so best I drop in there tonight..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, we cross posted...so I removed my post.

Yes, the plane crash is not too far from where you were shopping up by Cracker Barrel.

From what I read this morning, one of the women killed...was a widow of a 9/11 Trade Center victim. So much sadness.

We had news Monday also of a local soldier being killed in Iraq. I had gone to High School with his Step-father and his family.

The winds have finally stopped here....light layer of snow on the ground, but somehow the sun is shining.

Betty, feel better soon!

Debbie

> LIFE ISN'T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS...
> ...IT'S LEARNING HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN !

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just thought my post might go in cybrespace so thought I'd continue a post..

AnnMarie, not sure that fabric softener would work...I know I did a few things years ago, Christmas type angels and I used glue as stiffener then I also gave a few coats of spray varnish..must be a site you can get the correct info on...

Audrey, think the wood rounds I was suggesting are no bigger than a saucer, was thinking if they had holes drilled in them Shar could put a branch through each hole that way they wouldn't need to be tied and then could place the bottoms in the ground at desired width.. best she stay off a ladder..no problems with me doing so..deadly afraid of heights...

Shar could you take a closer photo of the lightbulbs please???

Crissy, glad Dh didn't get into trouble for staying home with you..are the storms now gone..I meant to ask, you are terrified of storms, understandably so, were you as a child or young adult involved in a major storm where your life was at stake or it's a phobia..you have your underground shelter so just wondered...did you ever get to go visit your neighbor

Late yesterday afternoon my girlfriend Diane whom I was suppose to attend a card making class to make Valentines Day cards and I did not go because I was ill, went and not only made hers but made some for me and brought me extra materials...so kind of her...

Judy you are awfully quiet..I hope it's not because bad news has come about your brother..will have to go check threads to see if you can be found..now I'm worried..it's either that or a little tooooo much celebrating..

Liz, you heavy into necklaces this weekend...

What do you all have planned for this long weekend...

I had thought of inviting both families to come for dinner Monday, just talked to Jeff, he was ill last week so decided to take it easy for a few days and said if weather is sunny he'll go skiing Monday..Greg well not sure because weather turned cold if he was able to leave last night for his snowmobile trip so I figure I can entertain myself..

As is with many of you, there are several projects that I could do and most likely finish .. birdhouse/canope-window treatment for bedroom/living room bench for kitties..mom's faux fireplace..there went that weekend...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tubbytee, welcome, you'll find these ladies caring, loving, funny, supportive, always willing to encourage one on, both in life and crafts..lol..

I absolutely loved the poem...doesn't that sum life up in total...

Going to print it and also send it along...

Thanks 'sweetie'

Debbie, how overwhelming for that family..to lose husband and now the mother...prayers are needed for sure..one never knows do they..I often listen to Buffalo news Debbie and did see about the soldier..prayers for his family as well... how is Shannon doing, is she behaving, using those crutches or is she still putting full weight on her leg....how did the blue hair turn out?

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, the blue hair! OMG! What a laugh. I will post picture below. But my "little boy blue" is home with the flu.

Shannon had her follow up appt. yesterday. She will need PT twice a week. Still lots of swelling and some fluid build up. They increased her anti-inflamatory med, and gave her some exercises she needs to do. They said to walk as much as possible without crutches...but if she needs them, that is fine. Oh, they have her in her knee brace for school time....which is actually better. Is she behaving? Ummmm...No! LOL

The poem is beautiful, and so true.

Regarding the widow, she was one of the "famous" widows, who went to congress and fought for other protections. She was very televised during 9/11 as she was talking to her dear husband on the phone when the plane hit.
Article is actually on front of AOL page.

I went out late yesterday afternoon, and was looking along the side of the house. My daffodils are poking through! And now this morning, covered with snow yet again. But, just that bit of green was cheering.

Here is my "little boy blue". LOL What a clown he is. The scalp no longer has the blue look, that came off with his first shampoo....just the top is blue.

Been quite busy and today is even busier.

So busy packing and getting things ready for the short trip.
Today We are making a small rag quilt.
It gets might cold and Cedrick will need a blankie to keep him warm.
LOL, not to mention thought it would be fuun to make.
With every talking rag quilting thought I'ld give it a whirl!
Looks and sounds easy enough.

Wonderhug, so glad to hear your brother is found and doing well! what relief.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Quick hello to all.

Sorry to read so much sadness and illness....

Betty did you get any flooding yesterday? I'm off to go swimming..sunny but really cold again here.
You asked awhile back if I left things out side in the winter in the garden..
I leave as much as possible ..if I think they will stand up to the weather.

Betty, so sorry to hear your tummy is upset agian. Please go to the Dr. And have it checked out! You know you would tell us the same thing!
Please take care, we just worry about you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

omg Debbie, just went on AOL and read the article..she's such a beautiful young woman..how very tragic for both she and her DH to have lost their lives in plane crashes...looks young enough to have young adult children..prayers for her family...looking at your DS's photo I can just see the devil in his eyes...

Carol, just went outside office door, you know one could get away without having a coat on..today I wore the quilted sweater jacket I made..light and still warm..I leave my birdhouses and such outside but much is put away..I just wondered about that beautiful large mirror you found last fall, I wouldn't have thought you did leave it out, wouldn't it break in the cold..I saw a mirror Carol on the side of the road once after I saw your, was interested in picking it up but someone told me it's not a good idea to have a mirror where sun is hitting it, could create a fire??? is that possible..probably it was Greg telling me this because he didn't want to drive me there with the truck..lol..as for flooding, I guess when I left, shortly thereafter it started to freeze..so there is mega ice but no flooding..sun is shinning so let's hope little by little it melts as not to create flooding.

Judy, pie in the face???? is that a fund raising event??? oh my won't Cedric enjoy...now what will you be able to do at the cottage, won't be able to work outside so will you bring along a project? Paul was here working late last night on computers..yesterday after Jeff installed all the programs I had pictures...today, no pictures..wonder how that happened...hmmm Paul must have hit delete..oh well...how was your birthday meal ?? yummy???

OMG Liz, must go check my Davesgarden friendship mileage signs when I get home to see what mileage marker says..could it be over 4,000 miles to my friend Liz? lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay, checking up on you all, what are you doing for the long weekend....

Lyndonville, NY

Well, I just had a major "shock" to my system.....the kids are off school all next week! UGH UGH UGH! how could I have forgotten that!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, is that 'March break' as we call it here? isn't that rather early..no wonder your system is shocked..lol..make a list of 'to do' chores...that usually makes them have plans out with friends..

Lyndonville, NY

Well, we used to have two weeks off at Easter time, but the teachers decided they needed "two" breaks this time of year. So, one is in Feb....the other the week after Easter.

Most NY schools in this area are off the same time.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That sure is a lot of time isn't it out of a school year...ours get out 1 week in mid March..our teachers signed their collective agreement contract I think it was yesterday so no strike, thank goodness..Kyle can breath now as his grade 8 school trip to Ottawa won't be cancelled...

With closing at 3:00 today and not feeling up to par, my painting didn't come out..playing with my labtec, had to download on to new computer, can't find how to save photo's ..was going to show you Valentines Day cards Diane did for me..LeeAnn out for lunch, Suzanne just left for the health food store and me, well I'll rush to the Garden Gallery to look for a rug, need one for Sailor so it might as well be pretty as well as useful...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Think I found a long way around..lol

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

this one is not really Valentines although pretty..keep it for mom for Mothers day..do a nice poem inside and voila...a card made especially for her!

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Glenview, IL

Oh Betty,
What beautiful cards...You sure do create such nice items!
Just love to see...

Although i am embarassed to shgow you my tiny little quilt.
LOL, somehow "cedrick" likes it this way! So I guess it's ok.
I don't know how the heck it ended up this way because when I had it laid out it was in a different pattern.

Decided to keep this way cause I alread ripped two panels for it being wrong!
Now it 'll have to do because we have to get moving here.

Debbie, was sorry to see you blue has the flu...hope he feels better soon.

Carol, Hope the day at the gym was good.

Oh, lol, the pie in the face is the result of incentive for kids to being in as much canned goods .
LOL, Jacob was the only 8th grades uncool enough to want to participate.
Now he gets to try and through this pie in the Principal and or the Security guard...
should be funny. He is going for the security dude because he took his game for a couple of days.
I had to go pick it up! LOL, he called to remind me to bring camera and quit playing with Cedrick.

Tsking, Betty I hope your not getting a relaps from being sick.
and also glad no flooding.

Waving Hi Gillian...Thanks to you an Sonora, I too got my snuggly blankie to snap right!

back in a bit again. still snipping!

Victoria Harbour, ON

looking Judy for photo of that quilt...we'll not snicker we'll be give you constructive sewing hints..I'm sure Cedric will love it...

OMG imagine Jacob choosing the guard over the principal..I would too if he took my crafts away..how accurate do you think he'll be in throwing the pie? Only 1 chance?

Glenview, IL

lol..here you are Betty...

Geesh, this lil bitty thing took me all morning to make!
But pleased as punch cedrick will be warm and cozy.

Oh yes, not much to do as of yet..so will bring a craft of some sort with.
Games for the kids...Maybe Jacob will take Cedrick ice skating. Steve said the lakes are still frozen solid.
But evening time will be board games and cards.

Forgot to say...got toss in laundry to fray the the raggedy side!!

Judy, that is so pretty. Love the colors. Now tell us what you messed up on it?
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Don't see any mess up....that is beautiful Judy.....Love the colors!!!!

Cedric, it looks so warm and cozy. Wish we had it right now, it is cold outside.

Glenview, IL

Why Thanks...got to smile it is my first rag quilt!!
Now I understand the whole sandwich thing...

the blocks were suppose to be every other color.
Wanted to add one more row too but ran out of the yellow.

GLAD you like it tho!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy it't adorable, ...now what kind of material did you use though..looks like silk, if it is it may not fray as much, but should do some.....I do love the colors...just for your next rag quilt Judy, in between the blocks you should also have seam allowance..now where did that photo go..oh yes, send a d-mail with it..go get it and post..Not trying to diminish the success of your quilt, just know a few others are making them so want to make sure you can see photo's which shall help you..

Hey Judy, best you start making them for the kids for Christmas..it's coming you know!

You be VERY/VERY careful on that lake..they are warning everyone here with the mild temps and rain that it's dangerous..wish Greg hadn't told me where he was going..a worry it is...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Then your second row..keep adding blocks to arrive to desired length and width..that way Judy between each block you'll have the rag look...hope you know I'm not being 'better than thou' just trying to help!

That's how one learns right..

Love ya girl

Either way they look great!! Did you have to remind us that Christmas is just around the corner....guess I need to get these projects finished and back it is to Santa's??? Sage wants a kitty santa.....that should be interesting......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Playing clock watching here....another 1/2 hour and homeward bound, not quite, had a shopping for project materials and want to get everything I need so I can play all weekend..already went to the Garden Gallery, imagine the manager was walking by and he said 'hello there, getting your garden fix for lunch today' too cute..I might become his favorite customer...got a choir rug, pretty green with rubber backing in hopes it's strong enough to take Sailor lifting herself onto top floor when she comes upstairs...she's hurt herself several times..hope this does the trick..

Mom said she'd drop in on way to cottage but haven't seen them as yet..so tapping the desk with my pencil, everything is packed, it's sunshine out there and I'm antsy to get going....

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Looks like all you guys have been busy. Every thing is breaking down arround my head lately. First the over head lights went out in the hall and in the bath and in the wash room and we can't find the problem yet and then My coffee pot quit but I have a perkulater and then My camera went crazy and won't put my pics in the computer so I am beside myself. Prayers for my poor troubled mind please before I run screaming down the road. LOL HUGS BEV

Trisha come on, with making Christmas gifts you know how much time it takes, best start early..I'll be keeping an eye on those who say but it's 10 months away..lol..before you know it, we'll be singing jingle bells .. of course just kidding..girls are purchasing flannel for their Christmas rag quilts ONLY because they are dirt cheap and winter sales are on..worth buying now and making next fall....
